This Adventure/HO game has everything to make me happy. Storyline compelling and held my interest throughout the game. Cut-scenes were clear and helpful to the storyline. A jump map made it easy to switch between scenes. HO's were large, easy to see and for variety you can switch to the match game. Cute and helpful little imp gathers up out of reach items needed to complete the game. Music was not annoying and puzzles were plentiful with some challenging to complete.
This SE felt more like a CE version with so much game play.
Thoroughly enjoyable. A must try for adventure lovers.
What more could you want in a story. Beautiful graphics, compelling storyline and vivid cut-scenes have you hooked from the start. Many challenging puzzles I haven't seen before. Some took me awhile to figure out. Interactive map and HO scenes. Storyline flowed well, was refreshingly different and the cut-scenes throughout the story helped to pull the story together.
House of the 1000 Doors: Serpent Flame has got to be one of the best adventure games I have played in 2013. The other reviewers have said it all. Top notch in animation, graphics, voice overs. The puzzles and HO's were very well done. The story-line outstanding. I really enjoyed playing this game and will play it many times again. So many great games have come out this year. The developers are really stepping up and giving us an awesome gaining experience.

Great game. Enjoyed it. So different from the spooks and ghouls. No one had to be rescued. Just solve the mystery of the dragon wheel and stop the villains from taking over the world.
Interesting hidden objects. Not your typical junk pile. Some objects took a bit of searching to find. Puzzles where refreshing. Clues were not a give away. You definitely had to use your journal and wits.
Scenes were beautifully displayed and well drawn. Interesting characters. Well done.

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that this is a basic search for the next Hidden Object to continue on with the story. If it wasn't for the interactive jump map, I don't know if I would have the patience to complete the game because the game play had you jumping all over the map. I prefer a more linear game play.
I really did feel the storyline was addicting. Nice voice overs, loved the artwork in the various scenes. Ok so we have seen it before but this was a new twist. I had to laugh at some of the comments. In the jungle a corpse falls out of a tree and the comment was "this jungle is dense". Funny.
The storyline and artwork fantastic. Hidden Objects-- too many to proceed through the game. Nice characters, however were flatly animated.
A Wizard's Curse was so beautifully designed. The graphics were superb, voiceover excellent. I thought it was so original to have the alchemist silhouetted and in a white fog. Different, I like that.
Hidden object scenes were beautifully arranged. Although some of the objects were almost impossible to find. I thought the game play was great despite other comments. The opening scene was fantastic. I did not have any trouble with the puzzles. They were pretty straightforward. The hint system gives instructions on what to do. I have seen this used in other games. I didn't mind that the hidden object scenes were used more than once or that we had to retrace our steps backwards. This is the first time I have played a game by this developer and I hope to see more from them.
Secret societies, wow. Had a real Da Vinci Code feel. Loved the beautiful scenes and how cool was it to travel back in time via a beautiful 1800's clipper ship.
Enjoy the storyline, excellent voice overs, superb cut-scenes, great music, puzzles and hidden objects. Didn't realize there was a map until I read the reviews but I didn't miss it apparently.
Ugh, why, did I ever purchase this game. Problems and errors throughout the game. I must not have read all the reviews which I normally do before I purchase.
I did not have sound, voice overs or music. There were spelling errors. I was told to put the "wooden ship" in the cabinet crack instead of the "wooden chip", An HO had me looking for a "mause" trap instead of a "mouse trap". The scenes were a bit dark and bleary. Hint system was useless: look somewhere else, at least point me in the general direction. The Hanoi thread puzzle did not work. The game overall just seemed dis-jointed. A map showing areas that needed something done would have been helpful.
Story line over all was good. The puzzles fun and entertaining. The game itself was not difficult just confusing. As others said it was an older game that was dusted off and shined up a bit.
I may re-install to see if I get any sound. But don't know if it is worth it because I probably won't play it again.
I agree with all the reviews that this is a wonderful game. Great cut-scenes, great gameplay, so much to do. Turned the music off can't remember why maybe it was repetitive.
Like the concept of going between the present and past. Good variety of hidden object scenes. Outstanding puzzles and a lot of them.
But...I got really upset with all the back and forth. This game would get a five star from me if it had a jump map. It was hard to keep track of where everything was. I lost interest and just used the hint button and strategy guide. I don't like to do this but when a game annoys me, I want to finish and move on.
Outside of that the devs did a fantastic job of creating this world. I may not go back and play the game but I will go back to the extras and play the puzzles. I really enjoyed them.
Right from the beginning, this game astounds with beautiful graphics and music. A fascinating mystery that transports you to another time. I was pulled in immediately..present day and riding a fast moving train..next you are hurtling down a track in a shaky steam train to the past.
A variety of hidden object scenes. Very clear and nothing so small you need patience and a magnifier to find. Puzzles were well done with some very challenging. Getting the three clocks to show the correct times had me scratching my head. You better have the patience as the puzzles do not have a reset.
The devs took some time and thought to designing this high quality game.
If you haven't already tired this game, give it a shot.
