I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Moai IV was the game of the day! As I've been burned before by buying before trying, I decided to do the trial first. I didn't have to even finish the trial to know this was a keeper.
As in previous Moai games, I found play was very challenging but not impossible. This episode is just another great example of what a time management game should be.
Although I was beginning to think we would never see another great TM game, Moai IV was well worth the wait! Keep them coming!!
I absolutely love strategy/time management games, so I was delighted to see this game on BFG! I have the previous 2 games and both challenged me while giving me hours of pleasurable playing time. I so wanted to be able to give this 5 stars, but I have to be honest (sure wish I could give 4-3/4 stars).
First, I will say it is worth the CE price because there are 100 levels to play. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that as the game progressed, it was not as challenging as I thought a 5 star game should be.
There were a few levels that I had to replay several times in order to beat the clock, but for the most part, I had plenty of time left over. Definitely not as challenging as Incredible Dracula by a long shot, but it was fun to play.
Having been one who tested software before release, I can only imagine the amount of time and effort it takes to create TM/strategy games (think about it people; they have to make sure that every single click results in the desired results w/out crashing the software; they develop awesome graphics (watch the moving water, birds flying, etc. on these games), and this developer is one of the best!)
That said, I would recommend this game. Wasn't crazy about the story line, but anytime BFG gives us a decent time management/strategy game, I'm in. Thank you BFG!

I absolutely love this game, but can only give it 4 stars. I love a challenge (what fun would it be to get 3 stars on the first try each and every time). I don't even mind replaying a level 4-5, even 6 times to attempt to reach the 3 stars.
What I don't appreciate is playing a level 10 or more times, even after watching walkthroughs, and still not being able to reach 3 stars. After a while, it becomes frustrating and takes away from the fun of the game.
I like the graphics and cute little things that are included in each level (e.g., little animals, coal trains moving through some scenes, finding the collectibles). The music isn't overpowering and fits nicely with the theme of the game.
I really wanted to give this game 5 stars, but as an experienced TM player, I find this one just a bit too frustrating to give it the top rating.
Having said that, I look forward to more TM games, both from this developer and BFG overall.

So happy to see developers listened to us after the last horrible installation of this series. Last time, I purchased before doing the trial, and I was so disappointed and angry. Last installation was a joke, but this one brings us back to the fun game and those of us who have played this series expect. This is fun, challenging, and interesting. Haven't finished the game, but am truly enjoying the challenge (not too easy, but not impossible as the last installation was). Love that BFG is giving us more than depressing, evil, non-stop HOPA games that seem to dominate this site. WTG BFG and the developers of Monument Builders! Bring more!!

Since I used to be a program tester, I realize how hard it is to develop/test and release a product without bugs that meets requirements. So, I was extremely happy to see a TM game ... FINALLY!! Imagine trying to develop a game where clicking on this item causes something else to happen elsewhere while trying to ensure all actions are done within a certain time line and enough resources to continue! WHEW!! And, at the same time, developing graphics that make sense!
That said, and since I am happy there is a TM game, I am giving this game 4 stars even though it comes no where near previous TM games (little brownies comes to mind). It is the typical TM game with building, gathering resources, etc. However, again, I am happy to see a game that doesn't require me to gather a key to unlock a chest or door in the effort to do away with some evil wolf, bear, vampire, sorcerer, etc.
I purchased the game because I like a challenge, and this one does on occasion present a challenge. As a previous reviewer pointed out, you cannot undo a selection which makes it very challenging to meet the time. Whatever .. it's a TM and not a HOG, so I'll give it 4 stars. Hopefully, we'll see more TM games soon. One can only hope.
I recommend this game!

When I first saw the game of the day, I was like, "Oh no ... another kiddie type game." But, since it appeared to be a TM game, I tried to trial game. So happy I did!!! Is this like the Viking TM or the fire fighter TM games; no. BUT, trust me when I tell you, this game is just as challenging.
You better be able to click quickly, because as the game progresses, the ability to click quickly will ensure that resources are more readily available. You have to play the game to understand what I'm saying.
I am soooooooooooo happy to see a challenging TM game where I don't have to cook somebody's meal and run from table to table or have to catch a bear and collect eggs. THIS is what TM is all about.
Thank you BFG! Long time coming and much appreciated ;)
I recommend this game!

I was excited to see another Monument Builders game. I have all previous games and have enjoyed the challenge and information each provided. So, when I saw Big Ben, I didn't hesitate to buy it without going through the trial. BIG MISTAKE!! I am more than disappointed; I am angry! This is the 2nd TM game that has been provided on BFG in the last few weeks that have made it impossible to obtain 3 stars (not BFG's fault; they didn't develop the games#. I am pretty good at TM games, but I knew after about 6-7 levels, this game should never have been purchased.
I don't know who the developers are in these games, but I find it hard to believe that their testers were able to obtain 3 stars on even the earliest levels. I stopped playing around the 9th level because it is frustrating to try so hard only to be constantly disappointed.
I love a challenge. I don't even mind playing levels 3-4 times in an effort to get the top award for each level: #"Moai II: Path to Another World" comes to mind). But, not even having a remote chance of reaching that award takes all the fun out of the game. I gave it 2 stars only because the information regarding Big Ben was at least worth the 2nd star.
Although I have truly enjoyed previous versions of Monument Builders, this one is a total bust IMHO. Could be the death knoll for this series... just sayin' ...
I have finally learned my lesson. Do NOT buy a game before completing the trial.

I had just contacted BFG about the lack of TM games, and 2 days later .. ta dah!! I loved the first installation of this game, and the 2nd does not disappoint.
I see some are upset about the timer, and I will admit, at first, I was like, "Oh no!!! Not another impossible TM game (one came out a few days ago that I quit after 6 levels#. I love a challenge, and this game delivers, but if you stay with it, the game will give you hours of fun. Yes, there are times I had to replay certain levels up the 3-4 times, but isn't that the point of TM? If it were easy to beat every level, why bother with TM and just play w/out the timer #not sure this game has that option).
For those who can't seem to figure out how to beat a level, there are videos on U tube for each level.
Looking forward to meeting the challenges on this game. Give me more of these BFG!!
I recommend this game!

I love TM games, so I was excited to see this appear on Game of Day. I only played to the 5th level and knew this game was not for me. I love a challenge, but this is ridiculous! If there is no way to get gold this early in the game, I can only imagine the impossibility of obtaining gold in later levels. The instructions were not clear. You have to replay levels just to understand what you are supposed to do. As much as I was excited to see a TM game, I am equally (if not more) disappointed on this one. Sigh ...
I don't recommend this game.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened BFG yesterday morning and saw Monument Builders, one of the best series of TM games! I didn't even bother trying it out; I just bought it, and I'm not sorry I did. I like playing in the timed mode but even if you don't like the timed action, you can play relaxed mode. And, reading the historical information is always interesting.
You use the stars you get at the end of each level to select things that will help you get through the level within the time allowed. If you don't beat the clock, you loose those stars. Use them wisely, because there if you don't beat the clock, you will lose stars. I always play the level without selecting any help (fast production/special worker/etc.). This helps me get an idea of what needs to be done in order to beat the clock. Even so, there are levels that are very challenging. I had to play several levels over & over before getting 3 stars.
Once you start a level in timed mode, finish it even if you don't get 3 stars. If you start over before finishing, you lose the stars, but if you finish with only 2 or 1 star, those are added to stars you've accumulated. Just a suggestion ;)
I love TM games, and this one does not disappoint!
