Death at Fairing Point was a good interesting game with plenty to do but it lacked a little something - probably needed more intrigue and more intensity and maybe a little less romance. Having said that I really enjoyed the game as a whole and it was up with the usual great value that we expect with Colectors Edition games. Being a fiction novellist you are on holidays and are haunted by the ghost of a poor painter who is in love with a rich heiress. You must look further that the obvious suicide and try to find out who the killer was. This was quite a long game with just enough dialogue to guide you through the game and the music was not intrusive. The graphics were clear bright and colourful overall but just a tad dark in a few places but this did not distract from a great presentation. The hidden objects were mostly quite easy to find but some just needed the occasional hint. The puzzles were quite nifty and some were a little more difficult to solve than others but there was a good variety of different ones which makes a change. Good game, I enjoyed it.
I recommend this game!

Jodie Drake a photographer, is conned into aiding the evil professor Bergan and his cohorts while travelling around the world and has to thwart his attempts to become 'master of the world'.
This game, to me, was not very inspiring and it took a long time for me to just accept it. The cut scenes were like a talking comic book but in the general game there was only reading and no voice overs. The graphics were only just serviceable and I was far from impressed. The puzzles were fairly simple and were the same old, same old with matching pairs, connecting pipes, spot the differences, dark mazes ect, nothing really new. The hidden objects were a bit better with the standard list type quite good and at least the taking of pictures aspect was not like some of the other games like taking pictures of a broken tile, a piece of guttering, a shoe lace and other uninteresting stuff. The shape type were a lot harder and sometimes almost impossible to detect in amongst all the other superfluous paraphernalia. Not the best game I've played but I saw it through but I can only barely give it the three stars.
I recommend this game!

This game had a choice of two modes - casual and expert and it also had the choice of two endings. I chose to play the casual mode first and obviously chose the wrong ending so I went back and played it again in expert mode and chose the other ending. In choosing the mode to play is up to the individual and it tells you the differences before selecting. Had I chose the expert mode first it would have been a lot harder, more hidden objects in harder places, harder puzzles and no sparkles to indicate tasks. Having played the casual mode first I knew what was coming, where to look for it and how to get there so it was a bit easier. Having said all that the game started like so many others, car breaks down in front of old run-down mansion, door opened by an unsavoury character etc, but it developed well with a few quirky twists and descisions to be made and held my interest right through. The ghost of a little girl who is haunting the mansion has a different tale to tell than the crusty old butler who is being held against his will. The truth had to be sought and the ending selected. The dialogue I suppose was mostly needed in the progression of the game but there were a lot of notes, letters, cuttings and snippets of books to wade through as well. The music was macabre and eerie but was not intrisive. The graphics were cleanly defined, well drawn and colourful and this enabled the hidden objects to be found quite easily with just an occasional hint required. The puzzles were not too difficult in the casual mode but increased in difficulty in the expert mode. To sum up, a good solid game, plenty to do, plenty places to go and plenty hidden object scenes. In two words..plenty good.
I recommend this game!

To start with this game began as tedious, exasperating and nonsense. It almost came to the stage where I was about to knock it on the head and uninstall it, but I'm rather glad that I persevered and continued playing because as it progressed it turned out to be quite fun. The towns clocktower is damaged and as a result time grinds to a halt. Time then has to be manipulated and the tower repaired to save the village from it's frozen state. The dialogue was not too frustrating and quite comical in places with a few quirky quotes and splashes of humour. The music was peaceful and acceptable. The graphics were reasonably clear and bright but the game could have done with a few more hidden object scenes but the existing h.os were not that hard to find. The puzzles were quite good with the card game a hit, I enjoyed that. The others ranged from quite challenging to fairly reasonable and were all fun to play. After realising what it was that had to be accomplished this game really improved with time.
I recommend this game!

This game was a thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking game and it is hard to imagine that these type of events actually did happen. A daughter and her mother are separated when the mother is arrested and gaoled for witchcraft. The daughter makes it her challenge to find enough evidence to eventually free her and together escape the dastardly town of Salem. The dialogue was well presented and not excessive but the snippets of history were a tad wearing especially as you are waiting for the next clue to carry on with the game and not be held up by reading lots of history, unless you are in into this type of thing. The music was appropriate for this game being rather dramatic and a little eerie. The graphics were clean, clear and colourful in dingy and darkish surroundings but still allowed the hidden objects, which were still well defined, to be found without too much difficulty. The hint was rarely required. The puzzles were a bit tricky and challenging but well worth the added time spent trying to solve them. The family heirloom was an added attraction dispersing the animal familiars, and I was surprised to read other reviewers comments regarding glitches in the game. I only encountered one freeze up and after restarting, returned me to exactly the same place whithout any losses. The ending was a bit of an anti-climax and unexpected as well as being a bit abrupt. All in all a good game, if I could have given it 4 1/2 stars that would have been appropriate.
I recommend this game!

This game was quite a challenge, no hints or help, other than during hidden objects and no walk through blog - your'e on your own. To start off with every thing just seems to fit into place but as the game progresses the old grey cells are really tested. A young investigator had ruffled some big-wigs feathers and the mayor was after his blood until his boss sent him way out west to solve a grain stealing case. The dialogue was not overbearing but just enough to let you know what is happening. The music is quite pleasant and the background sounds like the buzzing of flies in the toilet, crows in the fields and squeeking doors all added to the reality. The graphics were precise, clear, clean and colourful which made the hidden objects reasonably easy to locate, only a few needed a hint, and the puzzles were pretty good. With no guide, help or walk through blog the moving to different locations was not so much as a problem as was what to do when you got there. For example a big bull was blocking the path and all you had in the inventory was a bottle of gin so the bull was given the gin, was quite happy, cleared the path and fell asleep. Way to go. I really enjoyed this game as it gave me a bit to think about and things were not as they seemed as one needs to think outside the square. If you like a challenge with not much help, get this game, I did.
I recommend this game!

This was another romantic type girlie game. Laura, a qualified journalist tries her luck in the big city to find a job, a career and romance. The graphics were reasonable and colourful, the dialogue, not too bad, the music, bearable and the hidden objects were reasonably easy to find, except a few which were a bit small. The puzzles were the same old, same old, not much variation, not much challenge and almost all the same type of puzzle with subtle differences, same concept with variatons in locations and items. This game did not inspire me nor did it excite me, as a matter of fact, I found it quite boring and not for me.
I don't recommend this game.

After just finishing two Collectors Edition games which were very involved and challenging, Slingo Mystery 2 The Golden Escape was a welcome change of pace being very relaxing and with out the intensity and intrigue. Maggie has to find out why Freddie's money has not solved her problems but only made them worse. The dialogue was enough to be tolerated and held you by the hand every step of the way and not enabling you to do most of the figuring out by yourself. The graphics were quite clear, bright and colourful in scenes in the foreground but deteriorated some what in the distance. The puzzles were pretty simple and did not require much thinking. The hidden objects were mostly quite easy to find but a lot of them were very small and were almost impossible to locate as they merge into the darker backgrounds. The slingo games are great and very enjoyable to play which I feel made this game into a good game with 4 stars rather than an ok game with 3 stars.
I recommend this game!

'Fear for Sale' magazine writer Emma has to investigate the ghostly McInroy Manor after a large donation from Emma's editor enabled the Manor to be opened up to discover the suspicious demise of the family. This game had the expected attributes of a typical Collectors Edition game with intrigue, suspense, mystery and drama. The story line followed the tragic demise of a family, coupled with the loyalty of the faithful butler and the cowardice of the family physician, with a multitude of twists, turns and surprises during the game. The music added to the plot and excentuated the mood of the situation which included the hoot of an owl and claps of thunded etc. The dialogue was not excessive and the notes in the diary took a bit of reading but was necessary for the story. The graphics were clear, clean and colourful in comparatively dull surroundings but this added to the kind of macabre atmosphere portrayed by the authors. The puzzles did not pose a great deal of difficulty and were intriguing and interesting to solve. You could achieve a higher rating at the end if you did not skip any puzzles which was the same for the hidden objects. These were quite clear and reasonable to locate, some needed a bit more searching but minimal use of the hint button ensured a better achievement rating. Great game --well worth the money, it was addictive.

The long abandoned ruins of the Paris Opera House is the abode of the jilted ghost who is still trying to plot the return of his lost love but it is the daughter of whom he has set his sights on as she is the perfect look alike of his long lost love.
The dialogue is adequate enough to allow information regarding the progress of the game and the phantom's haunting voice is heard at various times during the game. The music is also eerie and haunting but it has not the same effect of the movie with the booming sound of the organ reverberating through the catacombs of the ruins. The graphics are excellently portrayed, clear and colourful considering that the scenes are in the ruins of a burnt out building and the underground scenes are also dark and dingy. The snow scenes and the night views are still very clear and precise. The puzzles were ingenious, intriguing and tricky but were good fun solving them and they were not too difficult. The guide was a great help if you needed some assistance. It lets you know what is needed to be done or what is needed to be found and gives you a subtle hint of what is needed to accomplish the feat. The map is a great help in traversing the many rooms and locations but as the game wears on you get familiarised with where you need to go without referring to the map a great deal. It also informs you where you are and what sections need attention. The hidden objects were quite surprisingly clear and reasonably easy to locate, having said that a few needed a little hint. In summary a great game well presented and well depicted with a credible story line, quite a bit of travelling about from location to location but this added to the intrigue and gave a sense of achievement. Well worth the money.
I recommend this game!
