I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game so much that I laughed out loud, played it as often as I had time, and when I finished it started over again from the beginning.
I won't spoil it for you, but watch for moments when the fourth wall is breached. This is the first game where I looked forward to the appearance of the villain.

The game is about as good as we get these days, and at least there are no demons.
I did want to mention that the intro, which plays every time you start the game, includes a press conference scene with flashing lights that goes on for maybe 15 seconds. If you have a sensitivity to flashing lights, you might want to skip this game.
I don't have such a sensitivity, but I still found it annoying. Just a thought.

I've seen this developer produce some excellent games -- but this isn't one of them. It does have its good points; the graphics are excellent, and the minigames were above average, with unusual twists on old games and some challenging HO scenes.
But the story is really dumb. You get the impression they were trying to please both the "Nessie is real" and "Nessie is a myth" schools of thought, which would have been fine if they'd done a better job of it. The voice actors are either just bad or so aware of the ridiculous lines they're reading that it comes out in their voices.
As a final turn-off, the special hidden objects in each scene are nearly impossible to see, and the game guide doesn't have all the scenes. Feh!
I'm about two-thirds of the way through the game and don't know if I can hang in there long enough to finish it. Really not worth the aggravation and frustration it's causing.

This is one of those HO games where you really have no chance at all of figuring out what to do next because neither the puzzles nor their solutions make the slightest bit of sense. If it wasn't for the hints, I wouldn't have been able to progress beyond the intro. Why am I picking up this chain? Why can't I use this knife on this obvious knot? Why do you want me to go right but not left? What the heck is going on? Search me.
Is it worth the hassle? That's up to you. While we're in this war-created dearth of good games, this one is better than nothing. If there were more good games around ... well, I likely wouldn't bother. Play the demo and see for yourself.

If you've played any of the 14 previous games in this title, you know what to expect, and this is more of the same. It's pretty, it's calming, and it requires little brainwork -- exactly what I need some days. Not sure what triggered all the negative reviews; this one's no different from the rest, really.
One oddity is that it's all winter holiday themed, which at the end of August feels a little out of place. But what the heck, the snowmen and etc. help me cool off a little.

This is based on the demo.
Up front, I'll say that I had no problems at all downloading, installing, playing, or buying the game. Try it yourself before you write this one off.
I like this game overall. The animal companion is intelligent and sensible rather than cutesy, which I appreciated. The voice acting is quite good, which isn't often the case. The writing is also intelligent, so thank you. The plot is fairy tale, so I don't expect tons of surprises, but it also (so far) avoids cliche, which is always a good thing.

This is a well-made and enjoyable mosaic (nonogram) puzzle game. Colors are fresh, numbers are easy to read, and the final pictures are pleasant and almost recognizable. I especially enjoy the little factoids about India that you get when you finish each puzzle.
The only thing I'd change is the power-ups, which aren't particularly helpful. But that's a tiny quibble. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more in this series.

In game play, this is pretty much a standard mosaic game. The puzzles get tough very quickly, but the game is quite forgiving -- you can use four hints and make three mistakes and still get three stars per puzzle. Not bad, and it'll do till something better comes along.
However, it's surprisingly annoying that the pictures you end up with don't seem to actually represent anything at all. Some seem to be purely abstract; some seem to represent the colors of other very elaborate finished pictures without being in any way representative. Does that really matter? Well, no; it's still a mosaic puzzle and just as puzzling. But it's not really that hard to make the mosaic form some sort of picture, as we've seen in other games. These are just splotches of color, and not particularly pleasant colors at that.
Hence my title. If you're desperate for a new mosaic game, this will do. If you're not, try replaying one of the Fantasy Mosaic games. They do the same job MUCH better.

If it was 1998, I'd be impressed as all get-out by this game. In the event, however, I can't be too enthusiastic. This game is essentially a text adventure with some pictures added. The pictures are static and dull; the plot is confused and minimal; there's no motion and no voices, and in fact there's no point to the whole exercise.
If you've lived in a cave for the last 20 years, you're using a computer that runs MS-DOS, or you have an issue with overstimulation, this one might make you happy. I'll wait for a more contemporary game myself.
