See the other reviews for details about game play. I just wanted to note that it's lovely to play a game that's a straightforward murder mystery without any silly supernatural nonsense. Not that I have any objections to supernatural plots per se, if they're well-written; I'm just bored of chasing Evil Mages who are collecting souls to revive their dead wives/children/sisters. Exciting once ... repetivie, dull, and unimaginative fifty times.
So have fun! No demons, alchemy, magic, or talking animals in this one. Phew!

Surprisingly enjoying game, but dreadfully short -- I finished the demo in an hour, bought the game, and was through with the main game in another hour. That's the fastest I've ever finished a hidden object game.

I too thought this would be a wonderful change from endless cliched HO games, and it almost is ... but not quite, for me at least. The brain twisters are pretty good, though quite elementary at the start of the game; hopefully they get harder as you go along, though I don't know. Graphics are lovely, and the music is gentle and pleasant -- a bit muzak-y, but inoffensive.
For me, the deal breaker was the fact that the game comes with a total lack of any individual controls. You can't change the volume of the music or turn it off. You can't pick where you start. Worst of all, you can't play in a window; it's fullscreen or nothing. Now I love a simple little puzzle game once in a while; it's soothing and distracting. But I don't want to do that and nothing else, and this game requires that you give it your FULL ATTENTION. And there just isn't enough there to merit it.
Tip to the devs: Make that one tiny tweak -- give players the ability to play in a window and turn the music down or off -- and you'll have a winner. As is, well ... I'll find something else to do.

This would be a moderately entertaining game, no worse than many and better than some (partly due to the marvelously noir music), except for the ending, which is amoral and jarring. Yes, there are the usual translation errors, repetitive puzzles, confusing instructions, ridiculous plot with huge holes, all that stuff. I could live with that for the sake of a little light entertainment. But the ending -- ! Makes me wish I'd never started the wretched game.

I like these games and this developer, and game play in this entry is as professional as ever ... but they've made some mistakes in the plot that are a serious flaw, so much that I don't think I can finish this game. That's a first for me.
In her third outing, Allison the doctor has become really hard to like or even play. I won't give away plot details, but one plot line shows her to be hard-hearted and vindictive, and another shows her to be completely without professional ethics, lying and conniving to hide another character's embezzlement and drug abuse. Her hospital deserves to lose its license, and so does she.
That said, the game play is the same fun challenge. Unfortunately, the longer I play the game, the more I feel like I'm being forced to participate in her dishonesty. Maybe I'm over-sensitive, though, and it won't bother you. Try the demo and see.

Game play, graphics, and puzzles are about standard for this type of game, and the story isn't without the usual cliches. All the same, I liked the reworking of the Oz plot. At least there wasn't a missing son/husband/brother/other we had to chase after. One of the more enjoyable of the genre.

If you've played Elephant's other Christmas games, you know what to expect here: talking cats shaped like teddy bears, lots of Santa, a world just lousy with Christmas decorations, treats, and presents, and lots of HO scenes and easy minigames. There are no surprises here, just easy mainstream holiday fun with cute talking animals. If they verge on the cutesy-poo, well, that's traditional too.
A great game to play with your grandchildren, or a way to recover your own childhood, as you all wait for Santa. Nothing challenging, frightening, or unexpected. Older kids will likely be bored, as will all but the most nostalgic adults -- but if you yearn for a little gingerbread, why not?
Edna & Harvey: The Puzzle offers a completely new puzzle-experience and will challenge the players' skills by combining various pieces of 90 puzzle backgrounds.

This is a strange little game that consists of putting together jigsaws in which all the pieces are square and the pictures are cartoons of an odd spooky girl in pajamas wandering through various unexplained scenes.
Game play is confusing, in that there are no instructions, no hints, and no explanation of anything that's going on. It's made more difficult by the fact that there are duplicate puzzle pieces in the mix. It's also timed, and if you don't pick the right puzzle piece (the game shows you which piece it wants and won't accept any other), a loud maddening TICK TOCK starts up. Do I need this kind of harassment?
If you know the "Edna and Harvey adventure series," which I confess I've never heard of, you might very well adore this quirky business. Otherwise, its appeal is rather evasive and its shortcomings too many to make me willing to struggle along with it.

Very enjoyable mindless fun that satisfies my inner glutton without adding to my actual physical size. No story, not much of a challenge, just the giggly fun of noshing everything in sight, from other fish to soda cans to divers to passing jets. Marvelous!

I've played all the Nancy Drew games and adored most of them, but every now and then one comes out that I can tell I won't be replaying for fun. This is one of those games. The plot is massively confusing at first, and when you do finally figure out what's going on, it's so ridiculous and improbable that you start laughing derisively. I won't go into details (must avoid spoilers, you know), but if you play you'll see what I mean.
On the positive side, the graphics are stunning, the voice acting is professional as always, the characters are wonderfully quirky and lively, and the puzzles range from mid-level to challenging to one or two that are just nasty. As with all the ND games, there are no HO or match 3 puzzles here.
If you're new to Nancy Drew games, I strongly recommend you don't start with this one. If you've played the other games, get this one just for completion's sake, but be prepared to roll your eyes as you play. (And you might want to have a walkthrough or hints, *cough*, nearby while you play too.)
