I would have thought by now developers would have solved the "transition" issues. This was a good game, fun and with creative HOS and puzzles but the constant transition lags ruined it.
EVERY TIME you went into or out of a HOS or puzzle or just transitioning from one scene to the next or even walking out a door, a transition scene would come up and you would have to wait for about 5-10 seconds for the next scene to load. This got VERY OLD and made the game twice as long as it should have been. I would have given this game 5 stars otherwise.
I recommend this game because it was a great game, but only if you have the patience to wait for many, many transition lags. Good luck with that one.
Unfortunately I purchased this without demo because of the great ratings. Not sure where they came from because I got bored within 20 minutes to the point I just stopped playing.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much dialog. The dialog scenes can be skipped, but there is hardly a game because of all the dialog. I don't mind a little, but as far as I got there was more cut scenes than game-play. Yuck...into the circular file with this one...what a waste of money.
I didn't give it a 1 star because I really dislike the word "hate", otherwise it was a 1 star for sure as far as I'm concerned.
Dark scenes, slow moving, really bad. Where have all the good games gone?
Well, this was a surprise story and ending....totally enjoyed this game. Moving around the board was part of this game, so if you don't like moving boards you may not like it.
A very long game with challenge. Two options Adventure and Frenzy...I played the Adventure mode...can't even imagine what the Frenzy mode is like though. I very seldom wade through the dialog, but about 3/4 of the way through I stopped to read it and was surprised. Not what you expected from a match 3 game. Highly recommend this game for match 3 lovers. Those new to match 3 may find it confusing, but once you get used to it, it will become one of your favorite game plays.
I had stopped playing adventure games, or whatever this game is classified as since they had become tiresome and repetitive. So glad I gave this game one last chance.
Very smooth game with interesting HOS and Puzzles (some easy, some more challenging). Story line is same-o, same-o but that didn't interfere with the game play. Objects were often used in the same place they were picked up so your inventory didn't get overwhelmed.
Transporter map was very good and made the game play even better. I like the maps that actually show where there is active play so there is no guessing.
Graphics could get a bit dark, voice overs were pleasant. Quite a few narratives, but you could skip them and not lose any important game play....that was the major drawback to the game for me. I always turn off the music and play with custom settings which allow a reduction in skip time and hint refresh...always a nice option.
I really dislike the constant "tasks" that pop up. I really don't care about those and wonder why that has to be part of the game. I turn that off in options, but they still seem to pop up. I find them totally useless.
I should have read my own review on Roads to Rome: New Generation because this one was even more tedious. Like the first one, if you change modes you have to start the game over, no changing modes during the game. Even on easy, the timer runs pretty fast so if you chose to play this one and don't want a timer start with relaxed.
In other time management games, you don't have to wait for the little guy to "do his job" and return home before sending them out again...in this one, you have to, which makes a lot of finger tapping time waiting for the next send out. In other ones, you can tag the next project before the little guy is finished with the first job. That was the part that made the game slow and frustrating.
Glad I got this on sale because if I had wasted a credit or full fee, I would have been upset...so much for the Roads of Rome series for me.
Almost impossible to find a decent Match 3 anymore and this one was no exception. Dorky game play and I found it very childish. I couldn't even complete the demo.
I always play on relaxed/casual mode so this review is based on that game play. Although played in relaxed play, you still have a challenge in playing for stars. A long match 3 that is sort of a builder game...you buy little items to decorate the "haunted school". Some dialog which you can skip over.
Levels started out easy, as in most games but become much more of a challenge as you work through the levels. There is a map, so you can replay a level as much as you want to "up" your star level. A fun Halloween game. Good match 3's are hard to find anymore.
I certainly hope I didn't really pay for this game. Definitely something I wouldn't write home about. Also seemed fairly short and the transporter map was totally useless. I used the transporter hint to move around.
Scenes were dark, the HOS were standard as were the mini games. Game had options for difficulty which was nice. Otherwise I found it basically kind of blah.
This very simple looking match 3 game starts out (review is on relaxed mode) appearing to be easy...in fact as it moves on it gets more difficult slowly, then about half way through it starts tripping you up, even in relaxed mode. Truly, I can't even imagine what playing this game must be like in timed mode!
There is no "scramble" in this game so if you get a locked board, you have to restart that level. There is no little sparkly or jiggly tile to tell you where you next move could be, so you have to look around. You do not get an on board bonus by simply making a long combo....they just appear when they want, sometimes but not always with a combo. So don't depend on those. Some levels take a great deal of strategy.
A fun game with unusual bonuses which you can purchase with gold...but on relaxed mode the acquisition of gold is slow.
Highly recommend and the 100 levels make for a long game.
This game had to options, Timed Game and Story. I assumed the Story was not timed since there was a choice. Well, I was wrong, both are timed and almost impossible to win. Very frustrating game..glad I didn't pay full price. I found the options deceiving. I would have given it a one star but I don't like the word "hate"...a bit too strong for a game.
