Based on the demo. This is the second Mystery P.I. game made for Mac users. The graphics are good, the music is gentle jazz, and there are other puzzles besides HOS. The storyline is mentioned in the beginning, and referred to now and again as you progress in the game. But it's really not a factor. The HO scenes and puzzles are easy to moderately challenging. This is the kind of game I enjoyed a few years ago, but most of the newer games are much better. I'm not buying this one.
I recommend this game!

Based on the demo, but I'm buying this when I get paid. This game didn't grab me right away. Took a few minutes for me to get hooked. It's a combination of dark fairytale, Lovecraft and Poe-- a combo which can either work well or not at all. In this case, it works well. The heroine is a down-to-earth woman who doesn't get rattled easily. The other characters are a bit cartoony. If you don't like the heroine's spoken thoughts, you can go to Options and turn voices off. However, that can cause problems when other characters speak. You can also skip the cut scenes. The Strategy Guide is very helpful, and there are a few places you really need it. The hints are not as helpful. There is also a journal with a task list, which is helpful as well. The puzzles and HOS are easy to moderately challenging. There are several different kinds of puzzles in this game, and that diversity makes it more fun. The graphics and audio are good, and the music fits the storyline.
I recommend this game!

Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.

Based on the demo. Like so many others have said, I love the MCF games for the great adventures they offer. Each one has been better than the last one, so I had high hopes for this one. When I saw the ratings, and that most reviewers either loved it or hated it, I had to give it a try. The graphics and ambient sounds are very good. Morphing objects are usually easy to spot, but not always. The Strategy Guide is photos only with no text. So it's only helpful to a point. Hints are only for the morphing object Scenes. The journal doesn't say much, not like previous games where continuous updates you got into the mood and detail of the investigation. Thought I'd never say this, but for the first time ever playing an MCF game, I was bored!
I don't recommend this game.

Based on the demo. This is an old-school game with little adventure, and a lot of puzzles and HOS. After her children go missing from an archealogical dig, their mother, an archeologist, searches for them. She uses her cell phone to keep in touch with her husband, who is with search and rescue. Along the way, she is blocked by puzzles she has to solve before going further. The graphics are well done, and the music is soothing. The puzzles are fairly easy.
I recommend this game!

Based on the demo, but I'm buying as soon as I get paid. This game is a lot of fun, and has different kinds of puzzles. The graphics and audio are both very good. Munchausen's comments are snarky and funny. There are scenes where you can do something, then hit the "Play" button to see if it would work out the way you want it to. If you don't like the results shown by the play button, you can try something else. There is no map, and the hint button mostly helps for HOS scenes. But it's not a difficult game.
I recommend this game!

Based on the demo. This game has good graphics and sound. The instructions at the beginning of the game tell you to set your screen at the brightest level, and that is all I needed to see everything. The puzzles are fairly easy, and the hidden objects are mostly easy, some moderate. Kids who like fairy tales should like this one.
I recommend this game!

Based on the demo. If you love HOS, this game should make you happy. There are plenty of easy HOS, although some are of the junk pile variety. Lots of cats in this one, which is fine because I love cats. Some of the cats remind me of the Scottish Fold cats, because of their square bodies. The strategy guide is very helpful, if you need to use it. I prefer to play games without using hints, etc. unless I have to. I like the music, and the storyline is ok, what little you see of it. Unfortunately, the graphics are jarring. It's like one artist did the basics, then they pulled in stuff from other artists and other games, to fill in. I say that because some of the scenes look familiar. That's ok, if the scenes blend in with the other artwork; but they don't. Maybe I'm being too picky. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, then this game should be a good one.
I recommend this game!

Based on the demo. The graphics are dark, even with my monitor set to the brightest level, but otherwise ok. The characters are campy, funny. The audio is very good. This game is almost entirely puzzle/hidden object. The hidden object scenes are so dark, it's hard to find some of the objects. The puzzles are very clear. No adventure to speak of, at least as far as I got in the demo; although there are scenes where you get to shoot as many ghosts as you can in a short time period.
I recommend this game!

Thankfully, I got this game as the free game of a buy one, get one free promotion. When I got it, there were only 4-5 star ratings, but they all said it was very hard. And it is. But I do like to push myself, and I also like historical games. This one may take me a while to finish, though. The graphics are beautiful for most things, but the people look cartoony. I was unable to adjust the sound volume, but that may just be something I need to look up in help. If you do a web search, you'll find several sites with walk-throughs. Each walk-through is different, though, so look at more than one before bookmarking the one you like best.
To play this game: First, it's really important to read all the help notes first, and read the documents as you go along. When you click on the documents (seashell), an article will open that refers to the task you are doing. Sometimes that is helpful, other times it isn't. Right-click to access, and to close the inventory. You have to close the inventory to move around. There is NO automatic save! Save the game before quitting if you're pleased with the progress you've made so far.
I recommend this game!

If you like HOS games, this is a good game. Graphics are clear, music is pleasant, but repeats a lot. Objects are not proportionate in size: one penny is 2 feet wide, while another in the same scene is 7-8 inches wide.
The storyline is over-used, but you rarely see any reference to the story, because all you're doing is finding hidden objects.
I recommend this game!
