I enjoyed this game IMMENSELY because it was VERY interactive (including the hidden object areas -- more on that in a moment) and the HINT system (when I got brain-dead and couldn't figure out where to go or do) WILL provide you with your next place of action AND what inventory item to use when you got there; not only that but you ALWAYS had said inventory item in your "bar of tricks". LOL
The one thing that would consistently hold me up was in doing the hidden object scenes; they're ALL interactive and OFTIMES, you've got to use an item FROM YOUR INVENTORY (which I would forget to do) to complete the interactivity and close out the hidden object areas. Be warned, though, you may NOT be able to IMMEDIATELY close out said areas until sometime later in the game play.
Some of the puzzles were "beyond these old gray cells" and I had to either skip or use the walkthrough to complete (depending on my mood and/or the complexity of the puzzles -- one of them were cut-out scenes type movie things and it just was "over my head") and a couple of them were like "huh?" and I'd have to check the walkthrough for clarification. One of the puzzles -- though I understood what needed to be done -- STILL was unclear to me (even with the walkthrough) because I didn't understand where the traveling item needed to end up (in the middle of the board, BTW) and so I just followed the walkthrough row-by-row and made the changes and THEN it became clear to me where the traveling item needed to disappear at.
Remember, also, to use your cursor and travel the screen high and low and all 4 sides (although not necessary to do it slowly) because you'll never know where you'll be picking up items or having areas wherein you'll need to return. I got tripped up a couple of times because I ended up with inventory items with no idea as to their purposes and got stuck as to where to go and had to click on the hint button for more information.
For me, a very enjoyable (non hair-pulling LOL) and long game that can be followed easily by referring often to your inventory items and when need to, clicking the hint button.
I recommend this game!

I gave this game a 4star rating mainly because I felt that I was spending MORE TIME WAITING for the scenes to load 1 after the other than I was in actually playing the game! This L-O-N-G, L-O-N-G, L-O-N-G loading of scenes in between the farm scenes and the Match3 play just made the momentum sag and become somewhat frustrating.
As for the Beehives -- these will show up during your Match3 game play (not sure if they'll show up BEFORE buying the beehives for the farm or not; if not buy as soon as possible) after you've used quite a few of the firecrackers, bombs, and explosives and are OBJECT eliminators.
I stress the fact that the hives are OBJECT eliminators because you'll come upon levels wherein you either are LUCKY enough to get a bomb or explosive close enough to blow-up those squares that are NOT part of the main board or you'll need to use a beehive on those objects that MATCH said objects that are in those squares that are NOT connected to the main board to clear the yellow tiles.
My point being -- don't be too quick to use the beehive (as they ONLY appear after you've used MANY firecrackers, bombs, and explosives which only they themselves only show up w/5 or more matches) because you may need to try to work objects close to those beehives (no, you don't need to have 3 matches to use the beehive) in order to get those off-to-the-side squares cleared.
I recommend this game!

I have to say that there was so much to do and to follow-up on and follow through with that I HONESTLY enjoyed this game.
The follow-up scenes and procuring tools for were NOT so drawn out that a player could/would easily forget what task needed to be done as in other games.
One of the other features that I liked is that you had 3-5 areas to work within WITHOUT being able to go back to former scenes UNTIL you needed to be which made it much easier to stay focused on where and why and what needed to be done in THOSE areas without going round and round in circles and getting lost and frustrated.
You were, in fact, picking up inventory items for those particular set of scenes with the last 1-2 inventory items being picked up for FORMERLY played but still needed to be completed scenes and THEN you were transported back via the bad guy's comments so that you could EASILY move on to complete whatever was needed in THOSE scenes and then AGAIN picking 1 or 2 items to be transported to other need-to-be-completed scenes.
IMHO, this was one of the MAIN reasons why I enjoyed this game so much with the other reason being an EXTREMELY helpful hint system that reminded you what to do or where to go -- which after a long game play and uhmmmm, lack of sleep (LOLOL), I needed.
I recommend this game!

First of all, I did NOT like the filthiness of the scenes whatsoever; there was no purpose of it except to make you feel nauseous.
Second of all, I would've liked for the hint button (it's supposed to also guide you if you get stuck but rarely did) to have kept up with me and had recognized what was in my inventory; it either was telling me to do things that I'd ALREADY done or it was telling me to do things that was IMPOSSIBLE TO DO until 2-5 scenes later.
For me, it made for a nauseating and frustrating and oh please, let's-get-this-game-done-and-over-with feeling
While the storyline was (for me) quite different than from what I've been playing (ghosts, vampires, etc.), the ugly scenes and unhelpful hint button just made this game become a task rather than a joy to play and accomplish.
The ending leads you to believe that there's an upcoming sequel to this storyline; if so, I hope that the game developers provide much healthier and cleaner-looking scenes and a more helpful hint button.
I don't recommend this game.

There are certain items that need to be purchased and it'll be important for you to keep an eye out for all the coins and to not use them randomly as I did. Fortunately for me, what I had purchased from the shopkeeper I was able to use to gain more coins to purchase what I REALLY needed at that moment. The items that the shopkeeper displays (they highlight when you click on them# will provide you with not only the cost of said items but also give you a heads up as to what you WILL NEED to buy; I will say, that the cat is the LAST item to be bought.
I found 1 puzzle to be quite confusing because the tiles were not clearly indented with their markings and once completed, I hadn't realized that it had been solved #until I read the walkthrough# because of the fact that the needed item did NOT #as in the other mini-games# automatically go into the inventory -- it had to be clicked into it.
Overall, this was a good game and demonstrated the false belief of the reason behind the plague and other's ignorance #based on that belief) on how to save their beloved city of Venice.
I recommend this game!

With many of these games, I usually find myself using the walkthrough more than I like but with this game, it was just the opposite.
The hint button (without being used up until you find an area within you need to investigate) will let you know whether or not you've got anything more to do AT THAT MOMENT while your task list can keep you abreast of what needs to be done. Between these 2 help aids, a player can usually keep on top of things of what to do and where to go and for me, THAT'S a BIG PLUS.
I actually just used the walkthrough for a few puzzles -- there are certain ones that I STILL have no understanding of how to proceed while others were fine but just a bit time consuming.
I had hoped for a more reactive ending but overall, this is NOT a bad game at all and I really enjoyed playing it.
I recommend this game!

After performing a series of explosions, you'll gain a lightening bolt and that lightening bolt is ALOT more important than I'd originally understood.
Most often the silver/gold tiles that need to be gotten rid of that is away from the core of the board, you can do it by putting a bomb just one space up from said tile(s) and the bomb will explode the tile away -- NOT an easy task and NO GOOD on Level 93.
You've got a board with a silver/gold tile sitting right dab in the middle of the hole within the board. None of the bombs would explode the colored tiles away from the object (stingray) -- not even the lightening bolt.
After much perusal of the instructions (which did NOT enlighten me to anything new), I returned to the board feeling very frustrated, upset, and wondering how I was going to clear this stingray.
I came up with a lightening and just moved it over to the stingray that it was sitting next to it when I realized that the middle stingray had been cleared of its silver tile.
When I made a 2nd lightening bolt, I became very careful in making sure that I did NOT use it UNTIL I had a stingray to which I could move the lightening and voila the tile was clear and the level completed.
IMHO, the instructions should've made that point very clear so that the game player can be enjoying the playtime and not feel frustrated.
Fortunately, I was playing this game in the untimed mode; otherwise, having not understood the special usage of that lightening bolt, I would not have been able to complete levels under a time constraint and therefore, never finishing the game.
I recommend this game!

I am a hard-of-hearing person and I found it very difficult to play the mini-game involving the grammaphone. It is similar to a "Simon Says" format BUT instead of the tiles lighting up and then you clicking the correct sequence, you have to click on the grammaphone and LISTEN to the sound and THEN click on the tile (1 of 6) that you think matches the sound.
You have to do this 6 times BUT if you're incorrect with any 1 of the tile guesses, then all highlighted tiles lose their illumination and you've got to start over again.
In addition to that, the grammaphone will play a DIFFERENT sequence of sounds which means that you'll not be able to remember what you clicked on before as the sounds are randomly chosen by the grammaphone each and every time you play this mini-game.
It took me 8 attempts before I was able to accomplish this feat and move on with the game.
Personally, I LOVED this game because I was able to follow the story (with written comments from the narrator),and when I got stuck, I was able to click the "text" question mark and it informed me as to what I needed to do and if I was STILL stuck, I was able to peruse the walkthrough for this game -- which is not listed here on the BigFish website; don't know why not.
Though I've purchased the other Dream Chronicles games, I've not yet started nor finished any of them so I'm unable to compare them to this one but for me, this game had just the right amount of difficulty without my getting hysterical over AND without my having to race to the aforementioned walkthrough to ascertain what to do or where to go next every few minutes.
I recommend this game!

I HAVE A WIDESCREEN MONITOR
I find NO REASON why ANY hidden object should be SO HIDDEN (hint highlight disappeared off to the side) that it's actually OFF the screen to the point that even the game cursor disappears.
It occurred with the "pedestrians" and for a couple of other hidden objects (mostly off the left side of the screen) with 1 or 2 objects off the right side of the screen.
I have to say that the biography of this adventurous woman is VERY good and quite interesting and she was (in her own way) a feminist to the hilt.
I recommend this game!

I found that I was able to understand what needed to be done and where to go and how to figure out things WITHOUT using the walkthrough all the time ALOT better than I was able to with the first 2 "Drawn" games.
The one thing that I found EXTREMELY confusing was the mini-game and the matching pairs, when the matching pairs were on the same wheel. I had to read and re-read the walkthrough instructions before I understood that I COULD light up the first match, turn the wheel, and then light up the 2nd match.
I have to say that I found this game VERY beneficial to the psyche because it tended to be far more bright and colorful rather than dark and dreary.
I recommend this game!
