PLUS SIDE = Sometimes you just want something easy-to-play, and this game fills the bill. I bought it a few months ago, and just replayed today because I wanted something non-intense to play. This game has an interesting storyline (help save the town from the return of the evil-spirit king) with a nice mix of Hidden Object scenes and fairly easy-to-do puzzles. The action for each chapter takes place within a limited area, so there is not a huge amount of back-and-forth trekking. The visuals (except for some of the Hidden Object scenes) were very well done, and the story has a satisfying ending.
MINUS SIDE = The colors are a very monochromic brown and blue in some of the Hidden Object scenes, which makes it hard to find the objects. The game is fairly short, I finished it the first time I played in under three hours. There are no voiceovers, just script dialog (which can be skipped). For those concerned about occult themes, the story does deal with the supernatural (vampires and spirits).
I do not usually like fragmented object games (FROGS) but I enjoyed the first game in this series (Briar Rose) so bought this one, and did enjoy playing the game. Many fun things to do, such as checking out the little frogs that pop in and out of scenes (when you click on them they either start croaking or start hopping away). Also loved finding the morphing objects, such fun! The fairy-tale storyline was darker than Briar Rose, but kept me interested right through to the end. The graphics are wonderful. The scenery - particularly the opening screen, and then the Swan Lake cottage and lake - is really beautiful. Good game, and the scenery makes it very relaxing to play.
PLUS SIDE = If you like decorating and designing, this is a fun game to play, and I have spent hours decorating my different themed aquariums. You earn money by finding items in the Hidden Object scenes. You earn money faster when using the timed mode, but I prefer to play using the untimed mode. The Hidden Object items are fairly easy to see. I also like the background music, it makes me smile. This is a nice cheerful little game to play when the weather is miserable outside or you just are having a stressful week.
MINUS SIDE = If you are looking for an intense, sophisticated game experience, or a "dark'n'eerie" game, this game will probably not be what you are looking for.
PLUS SIDE = I really enjoyed this game, it kept me interested right from the start of the game. The use of portals and Netherworlds enhanced the game play, and extended the scene into a different dimension. The graphics were very good, ranging from the usual graveyard scenes to some almost Salvador Dali-type scenery in the Netherworlds. Music is an important game feature for me, and the music and ambient sound effects were excellent. Took me over 4 hours to play, and yes, I had to periodically refer to the Walkthrough when I got stuck. MINUS SIDE = The HOG scenes were at first intimidating, but either I got better or they got easier as the game progressed. What I did not like was the abrupt ending to the story, if I had blinked my eyes I would have missed it!
PLUS SIDE = Enjoyable game, it has great visuals, clear graphics, interesting cutscenes, and appropriate music and ambient sounds. The game plays wide screen on my wide screen monitor, and the Hint button is easily accessible (and does recharge quickly, I had to use it several times). In terms of the storyline, it kept my interest. A big plus for the game is that it includes morphing objects to find (I like morphing objects!). It took me about 4 hours to finish the game. MINUS SIDE = This is a FROG (fragmented object) game, instead of a regular Hidden Object game. Some of the fragmented objects are small and hard to find in several scenes, so I had to use a lot of Hints to find them.
I recommend this game!

Murder Island: Secret of Tantalus
Welcome to a world of danger and suspense in Murder Island: Secret of Tantalus, a thrilling Hidden Object Adventure game!
PLUS = I got this game during a sale, really enjoyed it, and the ending surprised me. The story line is about a group of students who go on vacation on a Greek island and stumle upon a murder. Real actors are used for the cutscenes (which can be skipped). This reminded me of watching a movie and playing a game in between the scenes. I liked the use of real actors, their voices added to the overall game experience, helped me feel like I was actually a part of the cast (so I enjoyed the very last page of the game). The game kept me interested, the graphics were great, and the setting was bright, sunny and colorful. As a gamer who loves Hidden Object games, there was more than enough of these for me. In the Hidden Object scenes, I also enjoyed the "guess what the item is" riddles, and also the interactive ones where 1-2 items had to be added together to obtain the item. During the game you gather green titles, somehow I missed getting two of the tiles, so I will play again and try to get them all. One of the best parts of the game was the map, which showed you where you were, and what areas still had tasks that needed to be completed. As you gather tiles you will open an area that provides very interesting information on ancient Greek.
MINUS SIDE = If you are looking for an intense, complex game playing experience, or a game with occult or supernatural elements, this might not be the game for you.
PLUS SIDE = I am not really into vampires, so wasn't sure I would like this game. But when the music started playing, the opening song made me smile and tap my feet, and drew me into the game. Then the lead character Dahlia started talking in her sassy snarky way, and I was hooked. Gotta love her and her mouth. This game is fun! And I love doing dress-up mini-games!
MINUS SIDE = This game ends as a Part 1 and I really want the next part to come out NOW!
PLUS SIDE = Really enjoyed playing this game. I liked the "novella" concept, and I enjoyed playing the three different stories. The graphics were well done, as were the Hidden Object scenes. Great game.
MINUS SIDE = I like exploring buildings and grounds. The cemetary looked so interesting, I wish that there had been more time spent in this game exploring the buildings and surrounding town
I love this game and have replayed it several times. The storyline grabbed me from the opening scene. As the detective you will explore several rooms in the old mansion and also surrounding areas plus the town. There is a lot of back-and-forth movement. The Hidden Object scenes were clear and easy to see, and several had interactive items in them. In this game you will collect cards, and that was also fun trying to find all of them. This game has my favorite musical sound track, the music always makes me want to twirl around the room (did I say that I LOVE the music in this game)! The bonus chapter was interesting, but it did not change (add to or detract from) the ending in the main game.
MINUS SIDE: Wish the bonus chapter had been a little longer
PLUS: The story line engages you from the opening scene, where you try to figure out who you are and why you are in this near-deserted town. The graphics are clear, and I enjoyed the background sounds, particularly the sound of falling rain. You move about a variety of areas in the town, and there is a bit of back-and-forth as you find items that are needed to progress in the game. The Hidden Object scenes are fairly easy to see, although I needed to use the Hint button (which was cleverly designed, I have never seen a Hint button designed in this manner) several times (and then I would say, Oh goodness, it was right in front of my eyes, why didn't I see it?) Every Hidden Object scene has some type of interactive activity to do. From the walkthrough I noted that in the CE version, you collect bags of gold; these are not included in the SE version of the game.
MINUS = Although the story and game play was good, the game did not "grab me" as one of my favorite games.
