The Hidden Mysteries series game developers put together good games, therefore, you can expect good graphics, good storylines and, generally, enjoyable game play. That said, this game is for Elvis lovers only. While I enjoyed his music, a constant dose of it is not my cup of tea. The storyline is interesting, but is not strong enough to carry the whole game. I played the demo on advanced mode and there was absolutely no challenge. I quit halfway through. I think this is just one more effort of the "Elvis industry" to capitalize on the music of a gifted icon, gone too soon. This is not a game that I would buy.
I don't recommend this game.

Sometimes you can tell immediately if a game is going to be worth the time and money. This one is definitely worth both. The storyline, while not new, is an interesting one. You find yourself going through a time-barrier, landing on an abandoned Spanish explorers ship. You are given four choices of game play: Casual, for those new to HOG's; Normal, for experienced but relaxed playing, Hard for more challenging, and Custom for no help, no skips, hardcore players. I llike the fact that instead of having to do HOS,s all the time, you can choose to do MahJong instead. You also collect pieces of an artifact throughout the game that allows you to find out the background of how the ship came to be abandoned and the crew end up on the mysterious island, where you will eventually land on. This is a satisfying game, with challenge enough for experienced players and help enough for new fishies! I totally recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

This game seems to be pure adventure, with no HOS; at least that's what it appears to be from this very short demo. There is nothing new about this game. The mini games are ones that we have all played before. The graphics are blurred. Even in expert mode, there was no need to use the hint button; this game does not challenge you in any way. If you are just looking for mindless relaxation, this game fills the requirement's. Most HOG's are formulaic, and this on follows the formula to the "T". The only plus is that the story line is fairly interesting; set in an abbey, you are looking for a monk that has disappeared under mysterious circumstances while a statue weeps blood. Though I'm giving this a low rating because of it's lack of challenge, give the game a try. It might be what you are looking for. I recommend that you give all two star games a try and make a decision for yourself. Things that other people say are terrible might be just what you're looking for. However, I wasn't looking for this game.
I don't recommend this game.

I am not a fan of reporter-solving-mysteries themed games. Given that, this game caught my attention. The basic storyline is that of a cub reporter who stumbles onto a murder and gets a chance to found out "who-dunit". The graphics are clear and realistic and the voiceovers are a nice touch. Based on the demo, this seems to be a well-crafted game with some interesting twists on the standard HOG theme. You must finish finding specific objects and complete certain puzzles before you can move on in the game. The puzzles range from fairly easy (putting puzzles together at the end of a scene) to challenging. It took me most of the demo to get out of the office! The hint button, while useful, cannot be used to sove a puzzle. Thankfully, there is no clicking penalty because it is necessary to click on everything. There is only one mode of play, but this is not a problem because there are different levels of challenge within this one mode. After getting out of the office, the storyline becomes more interesting, and for this reason, this will probably be a buy for me.

This quirky game is quite suspensful, beautifully drawn and has a story line that keeps you playing longer than you intended to. Some might be put off because it's not your standard HOG where you collect a bunch of things, but I recommend that you keep on playing and I believe you will be drawn into the whole story. The scenery is gritty, more realistic than the fairy tale type drawing of many games; it's totally appropriate to the story. In trying to find out what happened to the main characters' lost daughter, you find yourself talking to her saying "Don't do that" or Don't look in that room". Play this game on a rainy afternoon and prepare to really enjoy yourself!
I recommend this game!

The best way to for me to describe this game is middle of the road--it was OK. The story line hints of an ancient love story with a tragic ending and our modern day heroine is dreaming of these events. OK--not bad. However the graphics are blurry and rather cartoonish, The hidden object scenes, while not particularly difficult in terms of finding some objects, are very difficult in others. For instance, there is a scene where you have to find Roman numerals. The last three are impossible to find without the hint button. Even with the hint, you find that the number is not visible--it's hidden under something! Objects in the scene are often tiny or you find yourself asking "What is that?". Often these scenes are ones in which you have to find several other objects before you can pick up the one you want, which can be fun, if you know what you're looking for and don't have to ask "What's that?" The hint button only works in HO scenes and sometimes you find yourself wondering what you're supposed to do. This game seems to have borrowed from several other games like "Pahelika" and "Eye of the Tiger", but does not pull it off as succesfully as these terrific games do. This is a game I would buy on sale, or if I had absolutely nothing else to do. The demo is very short, so I don't know whether the game gets any better. For me, this game is a definite maybe!
I don't recommend this game.

When you first start playing this game, you think "Ho hum, this is going to be your standard HOG". NOT!! I don't want to spoil it by telling too much about it, because part of the fun of this game is the surprise events. You have to figure out what to do next, but it's not frustrating. All you have to do is put yourself in the main character's situation and reason out what you would do next. This is such a refreshing change of pace from the grim, spooky, demon-themed fare. There are some slightly gross moments, but this is a fun game. I highly recommend it!

If you play BF games to have fun, please skip this one; save your money. I wish I had!! I love the MCF games and have all of the Ravenhurst ones, but this one is terrible. The subject matter is unpleasant--if I want this kind of subject matter, I'll turn on the nightly news (which I don't for this very reason). The game play is so difficult, the puzzles so convoluted that even with the walkthrough, it's slow going. This game stresses you, not relaxes you. Please save your money and try something like Royal Trouble.
I don't recommend this game.

I was really prepared to like this game; tried and true fairy-tale theme (girl puts on poison ring given to her by an old woman and falls into an eternal sleep). The husband's task is to awaken his new bride by undoing the spell placed on her. The graphics are lovely and the voiceovers are well done. Other than that, the game is boring. There is a map detailing the various places in the town, but you can't use it to transport yourself to those places. The worst thing is the hint button. It is actually a step by step guide telling you exactly what to look for, where to go to find it and how to use it! The HOS's are extremely easy as are the mini-games. There is absolutely no challenge in this game. It might appeal to brand new players of this genre, but other than that, it is very disappointing. I got half-way through the demo before having to quit. It's a no buy as far as I am concerned.
I don't recommend this game.

In my opinion, "Twisted Lands:Origin", is the best of the series. If you liked "Twisted Lands", you'll love this game. The graphics are excellent; the music adds tension to the game instead of being annoying. The cut scenes give you insight into what is going on and background of the story. The mini games, while not all new, are challenging without being frustrating. The HO scenes, however, are fairly easy. I like the fact that they are spread apart--not one scene after another. After playing as many HOG's as I have, one tends to get kind of jaded. This renewed my interest and was an immediate buy for me. Enjoy, Fishies!
I recommend this game!
