I had fun playing this game. The first few minutes of the game, however, I wasn't sure I wanted to buy it! But I stuck with it and everything gets amazingly better after you enter the "game" and start trying to save your friends!
The graphics were very good (after you enter the "game")
It is a fun game that I am sure I will replay sometime. (I rarely replay games so that is saying a lot for this game)
The mini-games were awesome and some of them were somewhat challenging and others very easy. The whole game was somewhat on the easy side but the storyline made up for that. I would have liked most of the mini-games to be on the hard side to make it seem more challenging to rescue your friends but I still enjoyed it.
I recommend the game and wish there were quite a few more games with storylines that break out of the cookie-cutter molds of most HOGS.
I REALLY enjoyed the HOS in this game. They were varied with not all the same list type and they had my all-time favorite: the riddles to figure out what hidden object you are looking for. Some of the riddles were in sentence form and some were in picture form. A few were really easy but most made me think, which I LOVE! I like the puzzles in a game more than the HOS usually but when they add the riddles it makes the HOS seem more like a puzzle.
I also loved the conversations that you have with the various characters. Especially the 2 guards towards the beginning of the game, very funny! IMO I would have loved to have numerous conversations with them. I also enjoyed the barkeeper and the little green guy. (Fairy?) The characters got less fun as the game continued but were ok.
The graphics were outstanding.
The travel through the game was logical so I never felt "lost".
I was not impressed with the storyline but these other parts of the game made up for that, to me anyway. And I just skip through the story so it doesn't get in the way of the fun.
Bottom line: I had fun playing the game and that's always the goal!
I LOVED this game!! It was so much fun I had been playing it at least a couple of hours before I realized there were no hidden object scenes! (HOS)
You never get bored in the game because there is always something to do. You walk around exploring the different scenes discovering useful objects to use. Your inventory fills up quickly but these objects are used in 5 or 6 scenes you are exploring. When almost everything is done in these scenes a new area opens up with more exciting things to do! You go back to the previous area once or twice more and then it's done and you don't have to backtrack through there ever again! That's how the whole game plays out.
There are lots of interesting and sometimes funny things to do that are all fun. The most fun I've had playing a game in awhile. This game definitely goes in my top 5 favorite games!
Graphics: Very clear and appropriate for the game
Mini-games: There are mini-games but no HOS? YES and they are VERY unique and VERY fun to play. IMO they were medium difficulty. Which is how I like them. They require thinking but not enough to toast your brain cells! There were also quite a few of them which really made my day because they are my favorite part of these games.
Map: I didn't see one but I didn't need one. With only 5 or 6 scenes active at a time with stuff to do, it's easy to find what needs to be done most of the time.
Strategy Guide: Has a very nice one which I used a lot. Some of the things I was supposed to be doing were not apparent to me but after I looked at the SG I was surprised I hadn't figured that out on my own! I never had to use the hint button because the SG was clearly written.
Storyline: Interesting and chilling
Fun: Extremely
Bonus Chapter: Long and just as fun to play as the main game. It continued the story in a logical way. Most bonus chapters I don't feel add much by way of entertainment value to the main game. This one does.
In conclusion: I am very happy I bought the game and highly recommend it. I am also very happy I bought the C.E. as I used the strategy guide quite a lot and the bonus game was worth it!! I also went back and replayed some of my favorite mini-games and in a week or 2 (after I forget how to solve the mini-games) I will replay them again!
One of the very few games I have played where I wished it would continue.
I played the previous game when it came out in 2011 and remembered loving it. I bought this sequel a year ago but I have not had time to play it. What a mistake!! This is one of the best games out there. It actually has a storyline that I was interested in following! The little girl is great as are the rest of the characters in the story!!
The jump map was very helpful.
The graphics are stupendous! The whole place seemed like it must really exist somewhere!
The music and sound effects are awesome! (I usually have to turn down the music because it gets annoying too quickly)
The H.O.S. were interesting.
The mini-games were challenging enough to make them interesting. I think I had to skip 2 of them but that's ok.
The storyline was extremely well-written. With twists you were not expecting and adding new people to talk to along the way. I really enjoyed talking to the prisoner down in the tunnels--that was a nice touch. As was the return of the Suspect board where all the evidence goes while you try to solve the mystery of what is going on.
Fantastic game that I highly recommend, along with over 100 other reviewers who know what they are talking about!
The bonus chapter alludes to another sequel in this series. I hope that is still in the making.
This review is written after I finished the whole game (including the bonus chapter)
Graphics--Fantastic
Storyline--Very Good
Mini-games--Not too hard (I didn't skip any) but they didn't seem super easy either. There were enough to keep it fun. I thought there were more in the bonus chapter than the other chapters of the story. They had a nautical theme in keeping with the story so they fit in well with the game.
I love their fragment HOS with the gorgeous objects you build out of the fragments. My granddaughter and I would stop to admire the pretty object before putting it in our inventory.
It took me quite a few days to finish this game (not playing straight thru) so it is rather lengthy. The bonus chapter was long too.
I'm not a big fan of fantasy and this one could have been a tad bit more interesting but that could be just me. The game was fun to play. I especially liked the little doll houses we found to dress up the dolls. Very unique and exquisite. My granddaughters loved them too.
This was a really fun game to play. I absolutely loved the vivid colors, especially throughout the town where they are getting ready for the coming festival.
Most of the mini-games were very unique. Some of them were not too hard but most made me think--just like I want them!!
The storyline--FANTASTIC!!!! A detective story with a little bit of the paranormal thrown in. (A ghost) I knew it was possible to make a fun game without all the witches, demons, vampires and other dark entities and this game is it!! I actually took the time to follow the storyline and was intrigued by it.
This is one of a handful of games I have played that I didn't want it to come to an end. I was having a great time playing and enjoying the scenery along the way. The dry humor that showed up now and then was very pleasant also. I wish more games were like this one!! I'm looking forward to playing this one again! Going on my top 10 games list--maybe even the top 5! (Out of 400 or more games I have played so far)
For years, Barton Mansion sat abandoned, a haunting reminder of an obsession gone wrong. But something sinister still lurked there...and it's stirring.
I tried out the free trial this morning but wasn't sure what to expect with all the bad reviews, mostly based on the technical aspect of the game (which by the way, isn't supposed to be what your review is based on according to the review guidelines). I am happy to report that I did not experience one glitch or any kind of technical problems. It's always a good idea to try a game before you buy it and make sure it will run on your computer. It ran great on mine. (Windows 10)
I used the hint button a lot throughout the game and it was always helpful with information of where to go or what to do. It even transports you to the location so you don't have to find it on your own.
I can usually tell in the first five minutes if I like a game enough to buy it. This game started off fun and got better as it progressed. I knew I would buy it but played most of the demo anyway before purchasing because I didn't want to stop playing.
Graphics were very good.
Mini-games were some I had seen before and some I had not. Most of them were in sync with the theme of the game and I thought they were fun to play. I really liked the one where I had to dig up stuff that Rocky had buried in his dog house. That was a hoot! There were tons of games--so if you like mini-games you will especially like this game. I counted 5 in one scene alone! I had to skip a few because I couldn't figure out the logic required to beat the game. The directions were easy to understand but sometimes the playing level was beyond my abilities.
My granddaughters played most of the game with me and they loved it. So much so that they want to play it again! They really liked Rocky and the skeleton hand that reaches out to grab you! They kept replaying that scene over and over to watch the hand!
The storyline was interesting even though it was easy to figure out where it was going. I didn't think the vines were intrusive to the game play as some other players did. I thought they added to the story in a good way.
I finished the whole game and will put it on my list of games to replay. I am very happy I bought it! Ignore the low reviews (like I did) and try the game out for yourself. I think you will be surprised at how good it is.
I downloaded the game this morning to try it out. My granddaughter and I were playing it and we became so engrossed in playing that I forgot I didn't own it until the screen popped up that my free trial was over! I immediately bought it and we continued playing. I played it most of the day and just finished it tonight. It was an awesome game and I'm very happy I bought it!
There were lots of fun things to accomplish and even though there was a lot of running around the island there was a nice map to let you know where you should be going next and you could transport there if you wanted (which I did).
The areas were revisited a few times and then just when you might have become bored with them, a new area would open up! I loved the moving ocean--so realistic. The other scenes were very well done also. I was eager to explore all the new areas (and there were quite a few)
There were tons of mini-games which are my favorite part. Some of them I had to skip but most of them I played and enjoyed. They were nautically themed to go with the game as were the hidden object scenes. I would say there were twice as many mini-games as HOs or so it seemed. I didn't count them but it felt that way--which is awesome!!
I had an enjoyable time playing this game and I would recommend you to at least download the trial to see if it is your kind of game.
If you like pirate themed games as much as I do, you should try out Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and the sequel Robinson Crusoe and the Cursed Pirates, 2 of my all-time favorite games.
The game has everything I love in a game. Really good graphics. Jump map, which I used a lot. Unique mini-games that were actually challenging. Interesting cut scenes. Nice, long game. Interesting change up on the kind of H.O.s. Some very interesting and fun things to do along the way through the game. I'm glad I bought it and played it all the way through! Will play it again!
