I only played the demo because that is as much of this game I could stomach. What is Shrine? In the demo, we never find out.
There's a lot of running around back and forth to locate things like keys and shaped objects for locks. One skater's shaped key was in 4 places. (Sigh)
But I hate not recommending this game because I loved the concept of playing three different detectives. The first game was a great game. Not much thought seems to have been put into this one.

I was excited about this game initially. I thought it had the potential to be really creepy. What could be scarier than a mall of mannequins on a killing spree? Well it turns out that there are a lot of scarier things. In the beginning I enjoyed the HOs and the puzzles but eventually the game devolved into the same old hunt for keys, lock parts and paper clips used for anything from lock picks to zipper pulls. And there is always the glass you must protect your hand from as well as the thorny bush.
There were some good puzzles which were challenging but none that cause headaches. And yes, those collector's items are as difficult to find as every one else has said they are. I found the morphing items easy but the eyes and the collectible statues were impossible to see at times even after I had checked the SG. I resorted to clicking all around the area to find some of the eyes.
The graphics and voice overs were good. However, the game graphics are a little dark in places which made it harder to see the collectibles. The character of Rick had just the right amount of sarcasm.
Music is just background noise to me so I don't usually listen to it and can't comment on it.
I liked this game but it won't be one I would play again any time soon. As always take it for a spin and kick the tires.....you might just find HOPA shopping fun.

For the most part, I love Domini games. They are usually enjoyable and fun to play. This game was a bit boring and by the time, I completed the bonus chapter, I was ready for a nap!
Good parts: The HOs and mini games were fun to play and not very challenging although I skipped a couple. Visuals were nice and colorful. Sorry I don't listen to the music so I can't comment on that. There was not a whole lot of back and forth. Most items to be used were close by,
Bad parts: The developer should never have chosen the Hunchback of Notre Dame for a game if they intended to twist it into the travesty which they presented to us. Other reviewers have commented on this. Many of the tasks were the same we have had in the past such as the fishing rod which has to be completed, bees which must be smoked out, seeking out items repetitiously such as the rings for fingers, the usual knight statute that must be completed before you can get the sword or whatever and items used which were too modern for the time period.
I am recommending this game on the basis of its ease of play and although the story is twisted from the original, you will may like this one. Many times I just have to remember that it is only a game.

I liked almost everything about this game as far as the graphics, voice acting and story. The thing I didn't like is that the objects were very small on my screen. I could barely make out the hidden objects as they were small and seemed to bleed together. I can't describe them as junk piles, they were just small. Other items picked up around the scenes were also small. Nor could I read the potion pages. I spent the demo guessing the ingredients of potions.
I'm above the 50 years old stage and need everything a bit larger. Could be my computer but I don't think so. I never have this problem.

I didn't make it through the demo in this game and I couldn't delete it fast enough. Graphics are outdated, dark and dreary and the story line nonsensical at least the part that I played. The Pinocchio aspect is a little too much. From the very beginning, things just seem to get more and more illogical. Anderson is given a box which is a bomb. It has a subway ticket attached to it. He is told he must disarm the bomb but instead of immediately trying to do that, he follows the hooded man into the subway. You must solve an HO game to obtain the subway path to open a panel on the bomb to retrieve a knife to open a panel on a trash bin to obtain one of three parts of signs which you don't use until after the bomb goes off. At least that was my take on it. All this is done while Anderson is running around holding the bomb. Fortunately, it seems only to have created a huge amount of fog. Once you have opened the last subway door, you meet the hooded man and he's not all man. When the tree limbs punched through the subway windows and doors, I called it quits. Enough for me.
Try it. Maybe you will like it. Its not for me however.

Maybe I'm the dim bulb in the chandelier but it took me a minute to understand what I was supposed to do. Those little piles of stuff confused me. I purchased the game with a PPC so I was a little uninformed. When I finally figured it out I felt like a dweeb. In the dictionary that comes right after dumb. The game has some fun items to find and some hard items to find and you don't always find them all. At least that happened to me but I always got 3 stars. I did like the stops where I had to solve three puzzles. These were not usually very hard.
This is a rainy day game meant to pass the time away instead of stressing over a brain drainer.

I gave this game 4 stars simply because of the back tracking over and over to find and use items. I was unable to find out very much about the story except that a visitor had gone missing inside the Museum of Mysticism and Monstrosity. This missing person story may be a prank on Hector. Hector is a free lance demon hunter "extraordinaire". As he keeps investigating he finds things that fit into holes and then there are the "shrunken heads"??!!! that fit into slots. He collects matching pairs of keys to open a lock! Going from room to room the cameras are all focused on him. Every move he makes is recorded. He does need eyes in the back of his head. I thought the electricity had gone out yet all the cameras are working and recording. Perhaps I missed a detail. He encounters a projector puzzle and an eye puzzle along the way as well as others. There seem to be a lot of puzzles in the game. Not so many HOPs
You may be displeased with the graphics because they look dark and misty which makes things harder to find. In the first few scenes, the graphics tend toward misty and dark. There are collectibles: a crystal and a morphing object and they are difficult to locate because of the graphics.
This is not a very challenging game so far but from some reviews, it looks as if it will become more challenging.
As always try the demo. I believe I'll wait for the SE

After finishing the demo, I wanted to know who The Tall Man is but I'm on the fence about whether to wait for the SE. Graphics are sharp and well defined. The voices are well done. It has a bit of a creep factor but I'm not sure if all that ranks it as a CE game. I couldn't get a feel for the game and wished I could play the demo again.
I do believe I will wait for the SE. Try the demo. This one may really be your creepy delight.

Lately, 4 Friends Games has surpassed Eipix, Elephant and many other developers in producing games that are wonderful to play. I haven't found any of the cliche' things that happen over and over in recent offerings by other developers. Like the dry lantern, feed the animal, put together a fishing rod and the missing zipper pull. Recently we have had all this served to us in nearly every game and the games are becoming tiresome and boring.
Not so with this game and other 4 Friends games I have played. All but one of their games have scored 4 stars and above. This game should be rated equally I think. As soon as the demo was over, I bought the game. And although I'm on Chapter 4 now, I had to rush to review it. Many times recently I have had that "bait and switch" feeling after buying a game with a good demo only to have it devolve into boredom and monotony. I have purchased several games which I completely lost interest in and didn't finish. This one has kept my interest and I look forward to seeing what's going to happen. Will Candy find her lost love Jack? Will they defeat the giants.
This game offers a variety of things to keep you interested and the story moves along quickly. There isn't the usual back and forth like many games that makes me want to scream! You seldom have to go back more than once for an object. There were not a hundred little keys and amulets to find to open things.
I loved the mini games! They were just the right amount of challenge. Not brain twisters just thought provoking. The HOs were nice. I liked searching for two or three of an item.
Some people may think this game is easy. I don't think so. Some may suggest there are logic slips. I don't think so. At least I haven't found something like a bracelet or amulet for the glove box in your car locked up in a random toolbox. Leaves me to wonder how it got there if it belongs to the player.
The pros of this game is that it has a story to tell and it does that in vivid graphics and great voice acting as well as good mini games and HOs.
The cons are that I haven't found any.
Try before you buy but I believe you will be putting this one on your list.

This game began with so much promise and quickly devolved into the usual games we have been served up lately. Four stars to the over the top story but fun factor was nil the further into the game you go. Fundamentally, its the usual story of an evil entity gaining more power and threatening to destroy the detective while doing it. I completed 4 Chapters before becoming so bored with the tedium of finding the usual things that I couldn't go any further. Drawers don't open without keys, amulets, hooks or whatever. At least I didn't find a missing zipper pull yet and I haven't put together a fishing rod. However, I have to look for the usual cans of fuel for the chainsaw and other items. I don't mind puzzles within an HOP because it tends to make it a bit more challenging. There is more than the usual back and forth through garishly purple and blue rooms to find items. Keep the jump map handy. Its absolutely boring to switch from room to room to pick up one thing and return to the previous location or another location to use it. The collectibles were few. Those little bugs that are supposed to light up when a collectible is in the room were not very helpful.
At the point at which I stopped, the game had deteriorated to the point that I couldn't take doing the same ole things again. Maybe I'll return to this game one day to try it again, right now, I'm sending it to never land.
