Normally, I can rely on the reviews of certain people here. However, this time I think some of the reviews are not relevant for me. Sure, this game is not as slick and shiny, with all the bells and whistles of other games, but it isn't a bad game at all. (Aside from being on the creepy side!) I thought the artwork was pretty good, and it wasn't at all grainy on my monitor. The voice work was very good. The trial game ended for me after only thirty-nine minutes, so the whole game probably is a short one, but I do get bored with some of the longer games, which I find tedious. I'm an impatient player and I always want to charge ahead in a game, not sit and mull over a puzzle for a long time. At least this game made more sense than some of the others I have played lately. I haven't played the full game yet, but I recommend you try it for yourself.
I recommend this game!

I have played many, many of these games, but this is the first time I almost jumped out of my skin! I was surprised at how I was shocked by some of the scenes. I'm not sure that I will be able to play the whole game... I'm not as young and resilient as I once was! But I have Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek and I enjoyed it, so I will most probably go ahead and buy this one. The voice-overs are very good, the artwork is excellent, and the story is engrossing. When the trial time was up, I felt that I had been playing for only a short time. Try this one for yourself, but maybe not in a dark room!
I recommend this game!

Okay, I'm older and dumber, I guess. This game just started abruptly, with no options for sound or anything. No explanation, no plot. Some ghosts told me what to look for, but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't care for it. But the graphics were very nice and clear, and the game is probably challenging.
I don't recommend this game.

Okay, I'm juvenile. I liked this game! Sometimes a person just wants to play a short, innocuous game, and this fits the bill. I liked the silly, cartoonish characters and the inane comments. Also, since I'm a "mature" person [all right, I admit I'm a grandma - got a problem with that?], I really appreciated the fact that I could enlarge the screen when hunting for some of the smaller items. Expert players probably wouldn't like this game, but it's great for beginners. Try it - you might like it.
I recommend this game!

I was surprised when I read the two-star review, but decided to try the game anyway. I have all the Mystery Trackers games (I think they were the first BigFish games I ever tried), and I have enjoyed them all. I love Elf. The toad who gives the hints practically takes you by the hand and shows you what to do next if you are confused. This game has so many levels to play on that anyone can enjoy it. Try it for yourself.
I recommend this game!

Really, I don't mind that two games are both based on "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward", by H.P. Lovecraft. ("Dark Mysteries: The Soul Keeper" is the other.) But the developers of this game didn't give Lovecraft any credit that I could see. Both came out in 2012. The games are quite a bit different, but both are enjoyable, if you can stand evil necromancers. This one turned out a bit differently, but I played only the SE version. It didn't matter that there was no map, since I don't play for time. The sound effects helped make the game creepier, so I suggest really listening. Try this one; you'll probably like it.
I recommend this game!

I bought this as a Daily Deal, and I'm glad I did! The game was fairly long, had an interesting storyline, puzzles that were do-able for me (which is why I gave it five stars for level of challenge). I dislike games that are so difficult that I have to follow a walk-through for nearly every step. The processes made sense, which doesn't happen in every game. One problem: the mosaic puzzle was a little difficult to assemble, because the rings did not turn easily. I'm not a beginner, but I'm certainly not an expert. I urge everyone to at least try this game.
I recommend this game!

Okay, I admit I like some of these games, but The Curse of Vox just doesn't cut it in my estimation. Vox is Latin for voice, but that doesn't matter here, because it is never explained exactly what the book does. And the little guy is creepy as usual. I noticed that if you click on hint, it frequently sends you back and forth for no discernible reason. The story is pretty weak. The HO scenes are good. The music is forgettable. The bonus game wasn't much of a bonus. Short, and didn't make much sense. I did, however, increase my vocabulary: I had to look up the meaning of "phonendoscope" in order to find one! It is a type of stethoscope "that intensifies auscultatory sounds." Got that? (For listening to low-pitched lung sounds, as opposed to higher pitched heart sounds.) So, these hours weren't totally wasted. For better games, try the other Haunted Legends stories.
I don't recommend this game.

Nope, didn't like it. Won't be buying it. Didn't like the graphics, storyline, insult to Mexicans. The game was not very responsive. And it isn't because I don't like gruesome games - I do play some. Just not this one.
I don't recommend this game.

I played only part of the trial, because as soon as I entered the upstairs bedroom the game had a hang-up. I just uninstalled it. I found the graphics tolerable, but dark for these old eyes. The HO scenes were repeated, with some of the same objects to be found. In the fish game, you don't really have to write anything down, just click on the fish required until there is a check mark by the color needed. I don't care for breathing and creepy sounds in my games, so I lowered the sound level. One thing that irritated me was the fact that the inventory could not be locked open. Also, the hint sent me to places I had already visited and puzzles already solved. What is the point of that? This will not be a buy for me.
I don't recommend this game.
