Without warning, a group of mysterious figures arrives and reduces your village to flames and rubble. What do they want... and who is controlling them?
With the release of Queen of Flames Mad Head has raised the bar of the adventure game genre by literally "wiping out" everything familiar on the screen and everything old is new again, storyline, mini-games, HOS, you name it, Mad Head has re-invented it.
I can't say enough about this game... except that... IT. IS. BRILLIANT!!
CONGRATULATIONS ERS!!! You have completely outdone yourselves with this one. I really enjoyed this game. Who am I kidding... I LOVED IT!!
This game has it all. With the signature graphics that typify ERS games (think the Poe series), Dark Talent is a feast for adventure game fans. There are games everywhere! And one is more enjoyable than the other. There is a match 3 game in the bonus chapter that I absolutely adored and would play regularly if available (hint!).
I just couldn't stop playing this game... it was THAT GOOD!!. I played the CE straight through which is a big indicator of how much I loved it because I typically fluctuate between different adventure games to keep it interesting. The pacing of this game was fantastic and the fun factor is off the charts.
If you are a fan of the Maestro series this will be a special treat, and if you are an adventure game fan this one is not to be missed. ENJOY!!
While we are well acquainted with this games format, what makes it an outstanding game is it's creativity. I was impressed, surprised and delighted by the different worlds and inhabitants found in the Labyrinth and largely the reason the game is simply magnificent.
As a matter of fact, I so enjoyed the game that I played straIght through which is a real indicator for me of how much I am engaged I as I tend to play multiple games at once. But I just wanted to see what would happen next. The graphics are beautiful, and the game was technically flawless. The HOS and mini-games were absolutely fun, entertaining and clever. The vision and creativity put into this game game was really wonderful. And frankly I'm surprised that it isn't on Big Fish's top ten best-sellers.
The CE is comprised of an yet another Labyrinth to purifty what's left of Margaret's negative energy and purge the cranky, megalomanic soul of Samuel, the mad scientist... wouldn't THIS be handy in the real world!
I think fans of 1000 doors will really like this one... I for one, thoroughly enjoyed it!
They're always beyond excellent... the graphics are astoundingly beautiful, the HOS are CLEAR which is a HUGE factor for me (a note to developers ... it's just not realistic or fun to find a speck on a dark screen - I'd really prefer to just play the game - thank you Elephant!), the mini-games are great and then of course there is Elf... what more can you ask for?
Well, In Blackrow Secret's case, I just wanted MORE. Well, OK I always want more of MT, BUT did anyone else get the impression the game was WAY TOO SHORT for a MT installment or was that just me? And this is AFTER PLAYING THE CE. No big bells and whistles here either, but there is a really funny and fishy secret room to uncork and discover.
I also agreed with some other reviewers that Blackwell was missing the WOW factor of Silent Hollow for example (this installment just one floored me... it was spectacular!). I was actually really hoping the series would somehow continue down that track since I found the MT organization, various detectives/trainees, myriad of gadgets, and subterfuge (and even the car) so completely entertaining and engaging. I definitely WANTED MORE.
This is undoubtedly a 5 star game. My expectations of a MT game is absolutely high and that's because it is a GREAT SERIES! The downside, of course, is that I miss the WOW factor when it's not there because if any team or developer can do that it's this one.
So is it worth buying the game to save the actress Norma Shine and the purge the world of Mrs. Blackwell's evil quest for immortality... OF COURSE it is... the game isn't #1 for nothing!
I recommend this game!

OUTRAGEOUS... ERS HAS SLAMMED IT OUT OF THE PUPPET PARK!!
I'm halfway through the game and was so excited about PS: Lightening Strikes that I took a break just to rate it because this game is that THAT GOOD!! I've been a fan of the Puppet Show series from the start but ERS has absolutely outdone themselves with this installment. There are certain games that have a signature and style that is so unique and unmistakable that you could identify the series by a single flashing image and Puppet Show is absolutely one of them. There is simply nothing else like it. This series has some of the most breathtaking, surprising, brilliantly twisted images in adventure gaming. Visually, Lightening Strikes is breathtaking. With outstanding art and technical direction evidenced by incredible cut scenes, fantastic voice overs, synced dialogues, and a diary equipped with a navigating map making travel to and from locations seamless, ERS has infused this game with the awesome animation and technical luxuries I've grown to love and appreciate in modern gaming. ERS also gives us an Evidence Board equipped with cut scenes which not only drives the plot forward but also becomes a game onto itself as significant events, characters and relationships must be correctly arranged to reveal the plot's mystery. This is just one of the many places where the developers have done a wonderful job with pacing creating a wonderful flow to the action that is aided by numerous and outstanding mini-games. HOS are creative and interactive, allowing gamers to choose whether or not they want a task list or an image of the required item. Objects in HOS can also be clearly seen (Thank You ERS!!!) and are not so small and obscure that the task, and ultimately the game, become tedious. And for the first time in a P.S. series there are boxed items (a definite favorite of mine) which become yet another game to literally piece together. There are no morphing objects in this game but there are collectible piggy banks in every scene with different monetary values that are used to restore famous historical sites which you can access throughout the game. So far, I am loving L.S.... and If you are a fan of the P.S. series this would be a definite "must play". Congratulations ERS for doing such a wonderful job with a classic series!!
The Mayan Prophesy series is well known in the adventure game world and Ele-Fun made sure the sequel was just as creative and fun as the original. The animation in this game was spectacular as were the cut scenes which relay the story and background of our heroes and villians who are back for a repeat performance in the sequel. Only now they are joined by the moon goddess and Xalan; an evil spirit vanquished in the shape of a blade who plots to return in a ritual carried out by his minions many of who have taken the form of a jaguar.
Much like the first Mayan game, this one is also narrated which personalizes the game and adds to the urgency of the "save the world" plot. Although I did think the introductory scenes's narration was a bit rushed, it by no means detracted from the excellence of the overall game and our facination with the mayans myths. While the mayan theme definitely runs throughout the game, I noticed that many artifacts collected and used in the mini-games were actually Egyptian in origin. A bit strange, but still did not detract from the game's fun factor and engagement of the mini-games.
The hidden-object scenes were well-done in that they were diverse and creative drawing from the technical style and excellence of recently released popular games... which I actually thought was great. If it works, and people love it, by all means incorporate it.
The CE main draw is a good bonus chapter which is basically a continuation of the "save the moon goddess/world" storyline and is rich with the HOS and mini-games prominent thoughout the game. But if you are looking for more bells and whistles in the Extra section as some of the more recent popular games sport, you will be disappointed. If, however, a bonus chapter is enough for you, then the CE is worth it... expecially if it's on sale!
Weeping Woman is a great who-dun-it interspersed with legends and cultural myths which results in a plot that grabs you from start to finish. A large part of what made this game such a standout had to do with the outstanding animation and art direction. The colors in this game are simply spectacular and most importantly, completely authentic.
For those of you who have had the pleasure of being in Mexico on the Day of the Dead, this game may feel like a walk down memory lane. Capturing the very essence and spirit of this festival, this game gives us all the delights and technical wonders of a great adventure game with the fun and energy of one of the greatest cultural and artisanal festivals in existence.
A blend of myth and mystery Weeping Woman is a real standout... Add the technical magic and you have a #1 game. Loved it!!
I recommend this game!

Ominous Objects: Family Portrait Collector's Edition
A father returns home to find his children missing - all but one, who refuses to say a word...
Daily Magic has delivered stunning graphics, an engaging storyline, creative HOS, and wonderful puzzles to solve with the help of the gorgeous blue eyed feline, Mr. Jenkins (whose connection to the plot unfolds in the CE).
There is absolutely a parallel process present in this storyline where paintings literally come to life and the work of a graphic artist who is tasked with bringing flat concepts to life to create "daily magic"... worlds that we can completely lose ourselves in... and the results in Ominous Objects are stupendous!
There is a very good reason this game continued to hold the number one slot even after the recent release of a much awaited sequel and that's because this game is nothing short of amaaaazing! I played straight through the CE and wanted more, which is always the test of a good game and extraordinary work.
Congratulations Daily Magic for a great game and living up to your name!!
I was so excited when the next installment of Nevertales came out that I purchased the game immediately sans demo... and I must say that it did not disappoint. The graphics are visually arresting, and the games and HOS are incredibly fun and creative with a style unique to the Nevertales world.
The plot picks up with Belle and Pierre and their now teenage daughter Alice, who inherits extremely powerful magic from her parents. When Alice is "kidnapped" by the evil wizard Malleck (or so we think), the race is on to find her through book portals to find her with the assistance of familiar characters from the first installment.
Filled with morphing objects, puzzle pieces to find in each scene, collectables, and an array of surprises along the way, Nevertales is well on it's way to becoming it's own classic.
If you have not had an opportunity to play this game, start from the beginning and prepare to be transported into a unique world of gaming.
Congratulations Mad Head for another brilliant installment... keep them coming!
EIPIX just keeps getting better and better with every release. This game has all the bells and whistles... morphing objects, boxed items (which I admittedly LOVE), amazing graphics, fun plot with it's fair share of twists and turns particularly towards the end, and wonderfully innovative and creative mini-games and HOS that are as clear (which is brilliant) as they are clever.
Dead Reckoning is a detective inspired "who-dun-it" with a clever plot inspired by the film noir genre with a nod to Mildred Pierce although it does go in a different direction in the end.
The game prompts you to gather evidence to find the culprit among a list of suspects. I loved how they handled the role of the detective in this game. I particularly enjoyed the "TRUTH OR LIE" component as you meet and interrogate suspects and determine if their "story" holds up to the actual physical evidence. I had seen this feature in another adventure game and it is extremely engaging and entertaining as it makes the player an active participant in the voice overs which become an engaging game of analysis and deductive reasoning... qualities that are essential to a good detective.
Another subtle yet important aspect of the game is that it is the woman who "solves and saves" the day, rather than her male counterpart, which is very progressive and very much appreciated irreverence given the genre in question.
Dead Reckoning utilizes nearly every aspect of adventure gaming to further your engagement in the game. I often find myself playing the EIPIX demo and buying the game after the first 10 minutes of play. This creative team at EIPEX has clearly inspired and improved upon the latest innovations of adventure gaming. And they keep trying to top themselves to the point where even the credits are such a fun experience that it comes equipped with a rewind and pause feature!
So all that's left to say is...THANK YOU EIPEX for another GREAT GAME and CONGRATULATIONS on yet another BRILLIANT RELEASE!
