So far, this is my favorite installation of this series. The CE was worth every penny with the addition of "boxed inventory items" which become puzzles in and of themselves… one of my favorite features in the latest permutation of Adventure gaming hands down! The game is highly enjoyable, the pacing is great, objects are well lit and clear, mini games were fun and the technical quality superior. Perhaps the biggest compliment is that I typically play several games at once to combine styles and levels of challenge but I played this game straight through. Try it… you just might love it too!
Acting on the creativity and artistry of the Shiver series, the creators of NeverTales have taken the extraordinary a step further. NeverTales is a flawless adventure game and (hopefully) the future of the adventure/HO genre. I held out for 5 minutes before I realized that this was unlike anything I had played before and purchased this extraordinary CE. If you have yet to play, treat yourself to the demo… it was off the charts. Highest of recommendations!
It should have been a tremendous achievement, but the tunnel through the Ridge of Leviathan became the site of a great disaster. What really happened that day?
Science fiction fans will rejoice with Surface's Pantheon as the developers return to their roots with an "Alien" storyline. While this game had all the bells and whistles that is now expected from the Surface series, I found it's predecessor, The Noise She Makes, a psychological thriller/mystery game, way more creative engaging and interesting. What I clearly discovered while playing this game was that the storyline matters to me... a lot. And as good as the game is technically, the engagement factor was really missing for me. While I wanted to rescue the family, friends and adorable bulldog, I couldn't help think it would be way cooler to do it in another setting. As I kept playing, I realized that this was much more about enjoying the "Surface experience"; rather than my actual emotional involvement in the game. So the satisfaction for me was in the actual completion, as well as in the quality of the game itself, which is remarkable. On the other hand, if you are into Alien's then this is the game for you.

If there was a Silence of the Lambs of Adventure games, Enigmata 2 would be it, "Quid Pro Quo" and all.. Very Hannibal Lecter.... I all but expected the prisoner to say he enjoyed kidney with fava beans and a good chianti. And would have loved it!!! Outside of the homage paid to this Oscar winning film, this was one of the best Adventure games I've played. Period. I've been waiting for part 2 of Enigmatis for a long time and the developers did not disappoint and am savoring every minute of it. I have a few list of games that I consider outstanding, not just good or even excellent, but the game that are defining the new Adventure/HO genre with a brilliance and creativity rarely seen... and Enigmata is one of these games. I couldn't recommend it highly enough... sit back and have a blast, maybe even enjoy a chianti or two?
I recommend this game!

I AM A HUGE FAN OF THESE DEVELOPERS... ENIGMATIS BEING ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES. BUT, FOR FANS OF ADVENTURE/PUZZLE/HIDDEN OBJECT GAMES IT JUST DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS. I FELT LIKE A LITTLE KID WITH THE BEST TOY EVER. I NEVER FAILS TO THRILL, SURPRISE OR JUST PLAIN ENTERTAIN IN IT'S BEAUTY AND CREATIVITY. CE WAS SO WORTH IT AS I DID NOT WANT THIS GAME TO END. IT ALSO SETS THE STAGE FOR AN UPCOMING SEQUEL WHICH FRANKLY I WOULD PURCHASE NOW IF I COULD. I KNOW MANY REVIEWERS HAVE LEFT MANY SPECIFICS ABOUT THE GAME SO I WON'T REPEAT WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SAID, EXCEPT TO SAY.... WOW!!!!!!
What I love most about Shiver series, aside from being one of the most technically sophisticated adventure games ever released is the stark quality of the environments they create and Moonlit Grove is no exception. The music, amazing use of ambient sounds and silence, pacing, and somber surroundings come together to create a mood that is unique and synonymous with the Shiver series.
I was engaged throughout the game and propelled quite literally to put the pieces together although it was not my favorite story line in the series. The game itself, however, has the technical brilliance that I've come to not only expect but relish from start to finish. The brilliant HOS and creative use of found object that are "boxed" in the inventory becoming mini-games onto themselves is frankly unparalleled. These developers make you work for each object in enjoyable and ingenious ways. The Shiver series is deliciously gloomy and elegant in it's seeming simplicity. Moonlit Grove s so sparse that at times it felt like I was in an Appalachian survival demo. Yet, it's sophistication is unprecedented as it's much more that a game.... it's a mood.
Personally, I think the CE is a must as it really a continuation of the story line... questions are answered, gaps are filled, and resolution is attained. Plus, it's an opportunity to keep playing one of the best series to hit the market.
I can't say enough about this game except do yourself a favor and PLAY IT!! The artwork is beautiful and the doll's introduction into the storyline is perfection. This is one that keeps dragging you in. It's like the creators combined the scariest echoes of childhood and put it all in one game. I don't know about you but there's nothing scarier than a demented clown. The storyline is gripping too. It's about time that witches were depicted as good people and not in the tedious traditional manner... no warts, brooms or pointy hats here. What there is, however, is a game that is about as close to perfection as you can get. Highly recommend!!!!
I actually played Poltergeist before the Vanishing Hitchhiker and I all I can say is that I love this developer. The suspenseful storyline kept me hooked from start to finish and the graphics and overall production was beautifully rendered. I can not wait to see what they come up with next but whatever it is all I can say is... I'm there!
I absolutely LOVED this game from start to finish. I have been a long time player of Adventure games but Poltergeist could be the start of an entirely new experience in this genre of games. The graphics were nothing short of astounding... at times the game appeared to be happening in 3D. The music and visual quality were flawless, heightening the suspense of the game and driving the storyline which was constantly moving forward. One of the best experiences I've had in a long time. BRILLIANT execution on every level imaginable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
The storyline was both creative and entertaining and the graphics were beautifully rendered and appreciated that the scenes were not too dark which makes it almost impossible to find objects. The game explores the background as well as the paranormal abilities of each of the gifted characters of Cinderstone.... these abilities are then acquired through a series of challenges in order to rescue them. The game had a good mixture of HOS as well as mini games/challenges which I also enjoy and because the storyline drives the game it was relatively easy to keep track of the pending challenges. I enjoyed Cinderstone and would recommend it... Enjoy!
