THIS GAME HAS AMAZING GRAPHICS, HOS ARE INNOVATIVE, STORYLINE IS IMAGINATIVE AND WELL-EXECUTED, SOUND AND MUSIC QUALITY WAS WONDERFUL, AND THE CUT SCENES ARE SPECTACULAR. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PRODUCTION AND DESIGN TEAM... THIS IS INCREDIBLE WORK!
The expedition continues... Track down the fragments of King Solomon's crown and foil a madman's plot in this exciting follow-up to the bestselling series!
I was 10 minutes into the game before I went back into the Big Fish site and bought it. This game is spectacular but frankly I love all things EPIX does. They are absolutely the innovative leaders of the adventure gaming genre. Their creativity in every area imaginable is off the charts. Once I fell off the plane... I was hooked. I've never seen anything like it. You guys are rock stars at what you do.
I want to get back to the game now because it's that good but I'll make sure to come back and finish the review once I'm done. THANK YOU!!!!
ERS Shadow Wolf Mysteries is undoubtedly getting better. As a fan of detective Adventure/HO games this one was a winner. The game had beautiful animation and creative features that I loved such as the microscope search for clues as you come across each character as well as a substance analyzer when you came across unknown objects that required identification and labeling that you had to prompt (i.e. liquid, or solid, etc...)
HO scenes were varied and creative although I wish they would have had more movement and visibility and boxed items which become a mini-game on your inventory list which is quickly becoming a hallmark of innovative games.
However, the game was highly enjoyable with an interesting twist at the end of the bonus chapter. Enjoy!
I agree with the 5 star reviewers... the game itself is wonderful. The graphics are amazing, creative HOS scenes, and although the plots of these games are rehashed over and over again, i enjoyed unraveling the murder mystery so much so that I bought the game after the hour demo. Although the idea of a female detective in this time period was very forward thinking, it was a bit unbelievable, although it sure would have been great if this was the case. So I kind of went with the irreverence.
All was well until I came across the fingerprint kit. Cute idea I thought... until I tried it. I spent half an hour tapping with the brush on the cave door and another hour tapping on the cannon parchment before I became so frustrated that I just quit the game as you can not proceed until these tasks are complete AND there is NO SKIP option. When a game offers special feature it must be flawless. If not the fun factor goes out the window. I would have really appreciated a skip button so I could continue to enjoy the rest of the game. I read that other reviewers had similar reactions to the fingerprint kit... maybe it's a MAC thing. Will I go back into the game and tap until I turn blue... No, I don't think so. And it's too bad because I was really enjoying the rest. Please consider revamping this feature. It created more frustration than fun.
I don't recommend this game.

Kingdoms, dragons and a very eloquent cat... what's not to LOVE!!!
The graphics of this game are absolutely stunning. And while the story itself has been told countless times, especially in adventure games, it unfolds throughout the game via spectacular cutscenes and through the guidance of our multi-lingual cat which gives it a delightful and funny twist.
The puzzles were varied and the HOS creative although not to the extent of certain new releases like Cadenza or the latest Myths of the World release. I've also grown quite fond of the boxed items in the inventory, a very innovative way of adding or combining found objects as they virtually become their own mini-game. Here, the use of plus signs, for me at least, detracted from the creative possibilities and overall sophistication of the game.
But the positives, far outweigh any of the more traditional technical choices made in this game. I loved the fact that the game had 2 time traveling maps; one for the dragon who becomes your main ride in your quest to save your sister, the Queen, and another map to investigate the area itself.
Although I purchased the CE, I think the SE would have been equally enjoyable. There are some games that have elevated the CE to an art form worthy of the extra investment but here again there was not the same bang.
Regardless, a best measure of a game for me is engagement and I played this one from start to finish and thought it was great.
Stunning graphics, creative HOS (reminiscent of Cadenza... loved!), amazing cut scenes, and great mini-games add up to a fantastic series that just keeps upping the anti on excellence.
Rite of Passage is a great name for this series as your "seeker" skills are revealed with game progress which renders things like ladders, and pickaxes obsolete (a big thank you! to the developers). Outside of the punctuation sounds and music, I found the overall score of the game a bit on the muzak side and found myself turning down the volume several times... the only downside to the game, for me as the voice overs were quite good.
I also noticed that Big Fish has prefaced the art and allure of the CE. The time where CE's simply meant the addition of a strategy guide are very much over... and so grateful for it!
Bottom line is that I play adventure/HO games all the time and what I respond to the most are surprises, a departure from the same old formula. A new way of presenting what are known as the staples of this gaming genre while keeping the interconnecting themes that make a series unique (mystery man was a sight for sore eyes... yay!).
The series that Big Fish games produces are, for me, synonymous with excellence. This game is quite beautiful... and at times, breathtaking. The graphics, music, cut scenes. acting and accents were superb and the karmic interactions between the characters was so clever and incredibly funny. I absolutely love the increasingly creative takes on the HOS because they can get tedious when they are not varied and imaginative. I wish some of the items with drawings had been a bit clearer on the HO list as not all of them were easily discernible... but this is a very small critique for a spectacular game.
I also love the extra surprises that you are now getting in a CE making it really worth your time and resources.
My congratulations and gratitude to Big Fish for their unerring quality and contribution to this genre of gaming!
You've returned from school to visit your father at his famous Jazz Pepper Club during Mardi Gras, but everyone is hypnotized. Have they heard the wrong note?
If you are an adventure/HO fan you MUST play Cadenza! This is a game that is not only creatively explosive but technically brilliant. There are many reviewers who will give you specifics but let me be brief…. it has it all! The CE is equally incredible… I'm still smiling. The developers of Nevertales and now Cadenza just get better and better.
A famous actor has literally stepped off the screen to kidnap your niece. Now you must find a way into the dangerous and exciting world of the film to save her!
I'm frankly surprised by the negative reviews this game received. Technically, it has the same creative, innovative approach that is unique to The Surface series. The clarity of the HOS, the surreal storyline and great mini-games. The only significant departure from this game's typical production style is that it relies on animation cut scenes instead of actors, which I frankly enjoyed. Outside of Surface's The Soaring City, which was admittedly a wonderful production and The Noise She Couldn't Make, the use of actors was an appealing choice in relation to the storyline. But, as a fan of animation, The Reel Life, was a seamless transition for me. Paying homage to the birth of cinema and it's famous pairings like Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, I enjoyed the cinematic aspect of the storyline and the old film trailers that are shown by collecting the now famous Surface Flowers. I played the CE version of the game and it certainly has a different ending if you continue. It was fun, engaging and, the true test for me… I played the game straight through.
EIPIX AND BIG FISH HITS ALL THE RIGHT NOTE WITH THE LATEST INSTALLMENT OF FINAL CUT. AMAZINGLY CREATIVE HOS, THAT ARE CLEAR, WELL LIT, UTILIZING INNOVATIVE AND CLEVERLY INTEGRATED APPROACHES IN GAMING. THIS GAME SUCCEEDS AT EVERY LEVEL. WITH WONDERFUL CUT SCENES THAT PAY HOMAGE TO THE GREAT ERA OF CRIME IMMORTALIZED BY BOGART AND CAGNEY ENHANCED BY APPROPRIATE MUSICAL SCORES, THE STORYLINE PICKS UP WITH MORTON WOLF'S ALTER REALITY PROJECTOR NOW IN THE HANDS OF A SERIAL KILLER. HIS DAUGHTER IS ONCE AGAIN CHARGED WITH COMING TO THE RESCUE AND PUTTING THE PIECES OF THE PUZZLE AND RELATIONSHIPS TOGETHER. ON A TECHNICAL LEVEL ADVENTURE GAMING DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS - THE MAP WAS FLAWLESS ALLOWING YOU TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM LOCATIONS SEAMLESSLY AND THE GAMES WERE ENGAGING AND FUN. I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE CE VERSION , WHICH HAS SOME UNEXPECTED AND DELIGHTFUL SURPRISES WITH IT'S INTRODUCTION TO EIPIX STAFF AS WELL AS THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO BACK AND WIN ACHIEVEMENTS BY FINDING HIDDEN CLAPBOARDS AT EACH LOCATION, MORPHING OBJECTS, SOUVENIRS, ETC. THAT WERE MISSED DURING THE GAME. I HAVE NO BETTER COMPLIMENT THAN TO SAY I PLAYED THE GAME FROM START TO FINISH AND REMAINED IMPRESSED THROUGHOUT. GREAT JOB EIPIX AND BIG FISH!!!
