I didn't think I would like this game - the story seems so sappy. Turns out, this is a great game. The sappy story was well-told, and it had a few twists. Game play is superb. The HOS are varied and include fragmented objects and lots of IA with some puzzles in the mix. The regular puzzles are good, too. The HINT button works well pointing you in the right direction. There is a jump map, too. The game is long and well thought out. I really enjoyed playing the game.
I recommend this game!

I was really looking forward to playing this game after the demo, so I bought the CE. A huge waste of money!
Production:
I think the artwork is good in that it fits the theme. Same with the music. The journal is good.
Story:
It started out like it was going to be really good, but then the game ended abruptly without a clue as to what was going on. There was a "to be continued" message, and that was it. Same with the bonus chapter - no sense. In the bonus material they do say that yes, this game makes no sense because its one part of three. What a bummer! Terrible!
Game play:
OK but there are way too many mechanical problems - things don't work right. Sloppy work and poor QA. The closeup scenes don't close either when you are through with them - annoying. Some poor naming of objects to add to the annoyance. There is a informative jump map and the HINT button works well. Puzzles and HOS are average.
I don't recommend this game as a CE for sure. I would recommend the SE except for the bummer story trick. That is unacceptable in my opinion. I sure would not have purchased this game if I had known about this before hand.
I don't recommend this game.

This is one of the worst games out there. The presentation and music are OK, but there is absolutely nothing else about the game that is. The game throws you into the story without an introduction. I only found out there was apparently something going on by reading the journal. Where you are to start the game is on page seven of the journal. There are few if any hints as to what to do, and the HINT button doesn't work. You get a flashlight and a saw, but they need batteries and sharpening, respectively, but I couldn't find out where to get and do these things. The HOS are cluttered with very small objects. This game is a huge waste of time to even do the demo.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a well designed game with lots of extras (collectibles), live actors with good VO (lips actually move in sync), good game play with clear HOS and good puzzles, a jump map with info (where action is needed), pleasing music, and a good journal.
Too bad the story is so bad. It starts out like it will be very good and interesting. It was all downhill from there. Many things that didn't make sense occur. Some things are totally ridiculous. The developers left the worst for last - a completely ridiculous and fast ending. The ending is a big show that makes no sense at all and doesn't fit into the original story one iota. Absolutely terrible.
If you can get by the awful story, this is a good game. I recommend that you get it on bargain day, though.
I recommend this game!

While I was playing this game, I was thinking it was a 5-star for sure. Then, I came to the ending of the main game and the bonus chapter. The game came to a sudden end that was so fast and illogical that I wasn't sure it was the end until the credits started rolling. Bad! The bonus chapter was a complete waste, really dumb.
Production:
As with all games from this developer, the production is super. They still haven't figured out how to make lips move to the words, though.
Story:
Interesting concept but not all that well told. There isn't a journal. Who is that prince and where is his supposed kingdom? Why did the town get ravaged and where did the bad guys come from? Why and who for lots of things in this game.
Game play:
Well done. The HOS are clear and include some IA. Puzzles are the usual. The HINT button lets you jump to the right location, and the map is informative and allows jumps. Very well done. I am tired of cute, little helpers, but I have to admit that I like the little dog.
This is a good game, but is surely not worth the CE price. I recommend that you wait for the SE.
I recommend this game!

I usually don't like reviews based on playing only the demo, but, sorry, I couldn't even make it through the whole demo. The story and the vocalizations are so corny and syrupy that I almost lost it. What made it worse was that I played just before dinner, and I lost my appetite.
I can't imagine why this dog has gotten such good reviews, but I also can't imagine anybody liking soap operas. Enough said.
I don't recommend this game.

I really don't like games with fragmented objects (FROGS), and this game has a lot of HOS with FROGS. HOS are bad enough when you are looking for a recognizable object like a hammer that is mired in a real junk pile. These HOS are a step below on the bad scale. I can't imagine what I was thinking when I bought this game.
Production:
I thought the artwork was good despite what others wrote. The VOs were good with moving lips even on small characters. Music fit the story well.
Story:
An interesting take on the old fable with an Indiana Jones type hero thrown in. The journal is not the best, but it does record things you need later.
Game play:
Way too many HOS! That is where you "build" most of the objects you need. The objects needed are, with few exceptions, not the normal hammer, saw, etc. but are some plaque-like things. The puzzles are boring, and I wanted to just skip them all. BUT, you get penalized for doing so - five minutes on the HINT charge time. Really dumb. The HINT button works well, pointing in the right direction. There is a map, but it is virtually useless.
CE Additions:
There are some morphing objects that supposedly take time off the HINT recharge time - I didn't notice if it worked. There are pictures that you collect to create parables - useless. The bonus chapter is a separate story and is really dumb.
I don't recommend this game as a CE. Maybe as an SE.
I don't recommend this game.

I played the demo, and I thought this would be a better game than it turned out to be. I bought the CE and now consider it a waste of money.
Production:
Average artwork at best. No lip movement with VOs and some poor translations. There is an OK journal.
Story:
Interesting concept but messed up in the telling with some things that don't make sense. Where did that green goop come from and what is it? Why are some things green and magically transformed by pouring green goop on them? I guess it takes the place of a cute little critter to help you as other game developers are so fond of. Gag me!
Game play:
Horrible amount of rambling about required. The jump map helps, but why all the back-and-forth? Argh! The HINT button works well, too, in that regard. The HOS are awful with difficult IAs and poorly named objects (a cannon ball is a bullet for example.) Poor and certainly non intuitive use of objects in regular game play, too. Puzzles are average and boring.
Extras:
You collects coins and zoo animals for - guess what- a zoo. What does that have to do with anything? An absolutely total waste. I know others think all these collectibles are great, but I don't. Double the price to add some in-game hidden objects? Give me a break. Oh, yeah, there are the wonderful achievements, too, clap, clap.
As I wrote above, I was very disappointed in this game. It is poorly designed and produced. I certainly don't recommend the CE. Maybe, just maybe, the SE if you have some money to through away.
I don't recommend this game.

I only played the demo of this game, and I must have missed something based on all the great reviews. I thought the game was a real stinker. The production is OK. Game play is OK with decent puzzles and HOS. The story premise is so bad and the story is so poorly told that it overshadows anything good about the game. Totally awful! The raccoon is cute, but nothing else is.
I don't recommend this game.

This game just barely made it to three stars for me.
Production:
Nothing super fancy, but fairly good artwork. Music is OK and fits with the setting. VOs are the normal poor job that even the "big boys" don't do well. The laughing bad guy is really bad - obnoxious and phoney laugh. The journal is basically useless and seems to have been included just so they could say they had one. There isn't a total map, but some are found along the way when needed.
Story:
Was there one? I only played the demo, but other than the routine kidnapping and subsequent hunting for the kidnapper, there didn't seem to be one. Others have complained about the USSR setting, but I found it to be interesting and well done.
Game play;
The HINT button only tells you the directions you can proceed - not really useful. The puzzles are the same-old and boring - fairly long SKIP charge, too. The HOS are the usual with some IA. There is a fair amount of back-and-forth, which is a pain without a map. Some of the objects needed in normal game play (not HOS) I found to be difficult to see, and I wandered around quite a bit looking for them - very frustrating.
I recommend this game but I also recommend that you wait for a sale or use a free game as I will do. There are better games to spend your money on.
I recommend this game!
