I like the Big City Adventure games because you learn a lot of trivia about the city featured in the game.
This game has 51 HOS, each of which are followed by a puzzle. All the City locations were repeated several times, with different HO to find. Some of the objects are hard to find. The puzzles are repetitious and not too hard. One jigsaw puzzle repeated itself exactly, which I thought was silly, given all the locations that could have been used.
I was able to earn only 5 of the 12 achievements. Several of them were based on speed and that is hard to do. I played to timed mode, and never had any trouble beating the clock.
You don't have to think too hard with this game, which can be relaxing.

This game flowed smoothly and logically throughout. Although some items in the inventory were not used for a long time, there was not a lot of back and forth to confuse things. Most items were used pretty quickly.
The hint button worked well both in the HOS and out. I did have to refer to the walkthrough once to figure out the next step, so that wasn't too bad.
The HOS were good and at times a little difficult to figure out. The puzzles could have used a bit more explanation on how to play them, but I guess if I had taken the time to refer to the walkthrough, I would have gotten the answer. I don't usually use the walkthrough to solve puzzles; isn't worth it as it is easier to just skip them.
This was an enjoyable game and, based on my experience with it, I will be getting more of the Dark Dimension games.
I recommend this game!

This game was frustrating to me as it was not intuitive. Several times I could not figure out what to do next. I did find a walkthrough on the internet, but that wasn't all that much help. I hardly ever give up on a game; I always try to tough it out and finish it, but this one was just too irritating.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a good, solid game. A lot of back and forth, but not to the point of being frustrating. I did have to refer to the walkthrough several times, though, to figure out what to do next, how to use an inventory item, or how to solve a puzzle. Since I had to exit the game to do this, it was a little irritating.
Some of the puzzles were hard to figure out how to go about solving them. They could have used better instructions. It was a lot of trial and error, or a visit to the walkthrough.
The HOS were pretty basic and not too hard. I understand there is a sequel to this game.
I recommend this game!

This game does everything right. There is an interactive map that works like a charm. The hint button actually tells you where you need to go next and what you need to do there. Therefore, I never had to use the built-in strategy guide, which is also a big plus.
The puzzles and HOS were great. Often there was at least one HO that was a little difficult to find. I actually had to use the hint button a couple of times. The puzzles were varied and interesting. I skipped some out of impatience. I guess I could have used the strategy guide to figure out how to solve them, but I didn't need to do that bad enough to take time out to go to the strategy guide.
I loved every minute of this game. I highly recommend it.

This game seriously needed a map, as there was a lot of coming and going and the hint button was absolutely no use in trying to find out where to go next. I had to refer to the Strategy Guide way too many times, and since it was not built in, I had to exit the game every time I needed help.
The puzzles were repeated over and over again and were not that hard. The HOS were extremely hard; the items were very small and dark. I had to use a magnifying glass to find some of them.
If you collected 36 scarabs, you got a bonus play, which was just another repeat of one of the puzzles. Extremely disappointing.
The storyline was based on a search for a missing sister; the end of the story consisted of screens filled with writing that told the end of the story, instead of the game bringing a conclusion to the story. Aweful.
I sure didn't check out the reviews before I got it. Hopefully, I didn't pay much for it. Definitely a game to be avoided.
I don't recommend this game.

This game has something for everyone. The HOS were challenging, the puzzles were varied, and the pace of the game kept me interested.
The hint button did not help direct me to the next area of play; just a generic message to search the castle and grounds. As a result, I had to refer to the Strategy Guide, which is not built in, a few times to get unstuck.
Good game.
I recommend this game!

This game seemed short for a Collectors Edition. There were not that many HOS and they repeated themselves, although with different items to find. There were two different HOS, the regular junk pile and the silhouette type.
The notes were updated a lot through about the first half of the game, then they seemed to stop. The hint button did not help you figure out where to go next; it just told you that there was nothing to do at your given location. This was disappointing and because of this, I had to access the built-in strategy guide a few times to keep going.
Glad that the strategy guide was built in. There was some going and coming, but not enough for you to need a map. I played the casual mode.
The bonus material seemed redundant as it basically repeated the storyline of the game.

Except for the bonus chapter, this game does everything right. There is an interactive map and a built-in strategy guide, to me, signs of a very well made game.
The game play was logical with not a lot of back and forth between locations. The hint button worked well both inside and outside the hidden object scenes. It was fairly easy to remember where an inventory item was needed when it showed up, and how it needed to be used. I did not have to refer to the strategy guide at all during the regular part of the game.
The puzzles were varied and interesting and I only had to skip one, not because I didn't know how to solve it, but because I lost patience with the time it took to rotate all the circles into the proper position. I earned almost all the trophies, missing the one for not skipping a puzzle, missing the one for not playing in hard mode and missing the one for earning all the trophies.
A cute difference in this game from others is that instead of sparkles to indicate hidden object scenes, there were white butterflies. Kind of neat and different.
The bonus chapter, however, was a whole different story. The storyline sort of fit with the regular part of the game, but trying to figure out what to do and where to go was a nightmare. Totally opposite of the regular part of the game.
My advice is to avoid the Collectors Edition of this game and just save your money and enjoy the Standard Edition.
