This is one of the best HOS games I've played in quite some time. It has excellent graphics, follows the Headless Horseman legend well in an interesting and creepy story. The great thing about the hidden objects in this game is that they aren't random junk but things you'd expect to find in the place you're looking and pieces fit into the puzzle well. The HOS and mini-games aren't that hard, but I needed the hint button occasionally. I didn't need the strategy guide, because the game isn't that confusing or difficult so this didn't need to be a CE game. The game designers paid lots of attention to detail in creating the game and you can easily see it as you play the game. I only wish the game were longer.
Mystery Trackers: Raincliff is a long sprawling game that really delivers in all aspects. It has a good (albeit hokey) storyline, good voiceovers for characters, some challenging puzzles and in casual mode, a hint button that refreshes quickly. Once I started playing, it was hard to stop. The HOS are plentiful and not that hard but present enough of a challenge to not use hints, graphics are great, and in playing the game, you'll be doing lots of running around from scene to scene. The game is not linear, and does not have a map, so you do need to keep some memory of what scene is located in what part of the game. I now have all the Mystery Trackers games, and although I didn't like "The Void", I loved this one and will now be moving onto "Black Isle"
I bought this game because I liked the other Mystery Trackers games so much, but I made a mistake. This one isn't as good as the others. To make it worse, I spent twice the money and bought the CE. There are lots and lots of HOS, but they are simple and because there are so many, it detracts from the storyline. The strategy guide isn't even really needed because of the game's simplicity. Also, the story doesn't make much sense. I'd only buy the SE game if I really loved HO games of this genre and check out the other Mystery Trackers first.

I was glad to see another game in this series released, and also pleased that this one is more challenging than the previous ones. This version of the game doesn't have a storyline, but the HO scenes are all well done, and there are new more challenging minigames that the others in this series didn't feature. You can still skip the occasional mini-game when it's too difficult, but you can also get stuck. Overall, challenging but not too hard, and a fun game to pass time.
At first, this game looked too simple and the graphic representation of the work-people (man and woman) seemed a notch down from the Roads of Rome game. But then after playing this game more and more, I stopped comparing and enjoyed this game for what it is...for strategists and time management gamers, this is a good game. It also gets more complex as you progress to higher levels.
I started this series by playing Roads of Rome III, which has extra features (ie- fires) to conquer to complete each level, and is harder than this game. Since I enjoyed Roads of Rome III so much, I bought this game too, thinking it would be much easier, and up to about 20 levels it is easier but every bit as much fun. I'm now on levels that are just as challenging as Roads of Rome III, and glad I bought the game. It's very well done, each level is just a bit different, adding different challenges. I'd recommend this game to anyone that enjoys strategy and time management games and look forward anxiously to Roads of Rome IV.
MCF: Dire Grove is one of the better HOGs I've played in quite some time. The story is very interesting, the graphics and sound are great, and the HOS are done well, with a moderate level of challenge. Some of the puzzles, however, are quite challenging and I did have to consult the helpful walk-through to solve them since I'd rather solve than skip puzzles when I can. I tried several other of the MCF games, and Dire Grove and Ravenhearst are the best, in my opinion.
I enjoyed playing this game, but just wish it were longer. It balances a good story with fun mini-puzzles and challenging HOG scenes. It would have been good to have better color graphics, which would have helped me from using the HINT button to find objects. As it is, the HINT button is also needed to make the game navigation faster, but I enjoyed the challenges of solving game puzzles.
I recommend this game!

This is a simple game...answer trivia questions from 10 different categories, at 3 skill levels per turn (beginner, intermediate and expert) and score points dependent on the level of difficulty to get to the points goal for each level. With each level, the points goal gets higher and the number of turns to reach it decreases, so it gets harder and harder. I've reached level 5 and 6 a few times, but only very serious trivia buffs will likely get higher.
I played the original 'The Secret of Margrave Manor' game, and found it not to be a very good HOG because the objects were too small and there weren't enough different rooms, so I tried this game, the sequel, and in this game, the objects are bigger, but on the 'Lost Ship', there are even less scenes and not enough objects to make it challenging. You go around and around in the 12 scenes, and nothing changes. The story and mini-games are marginal at best.
