I really enjoyed this game. I almost didn't try it because of some negative reviews. Then I realized this was the same company that developed the Nightfall Mysteries series which I have played and liked. The graphics do seem a little old school compared to some other recent games but the story and gameplay well make up for it. Everything is integrated in a way that keeps things moving. The voice-overs are also well done. The HOS are fairly standard with some interactive and challenging items. Puzzles aren't too easy but not difficult. There is no map but the backtracking isn't severe. You complete a general area then move on to another. The Hint let's you know if there is anything to do in a scene. The only complaint I have is that sometimes an unwanted inventory item would stick to my cursor. Mildly annoying. I had fun and I definitely think this game is worth judging on your own.
Good game but not great. The graphics are pretty good. Very grey and appropriately dreary. I enjoyed the story, although nothing really new except that it takes place in a deserted kid's camp. There are few puzzles and they are short and simple. Not too many HOS, not too easy. There is a travel map but it really isn't needed. It does not indicate objectives or tasks and the game is fairly linear. The hint helps with direction if needed. Overall it's not a bad game so I gave it 4 stars as it deserved more than a 3. I recommend it because it's worth a try if you like this kind of theme.
I couldn't wait to play this game when I realized it was developed by the same people that did Final Cut: Death on the Silver Screen. Once again the graphics were well done but the VO's could have been better. HOS are clear and not overly cluttered. Puzzles aren't too difficult. You get to assemble and acquire a bow and special arrows to use throughout the game. Tip: Be sure to note the symbols at the end of videos. Although the map does not allow travel, it does indicate active objectives and tasks. The CE is well worth it to me. There are achievements, 40 Blimps and 14 Butterflies to collect. And, of course, there is a Bonus Chapter. I was not disappointed at all. Fun game.
If you love fairy tales then this is the game for you. In addition to putting some new spins on a classic, there are mystical creatures to take pictures of, all depicted through bright and beautiful graphics. The HOs are all "replace" the items for a nice change of pace. Puzzles are pretty average, not too difficult. There ia a travel map showing a list of objectives in that area. It's a challenging experience without being mind-bending. As with all Elephant games, these things make a creative, attractive and entertaining game.
I was doubtful when I first saw this game but I'm glad the reviews convinced me to give it a chance. First of all, the graphics are wonderful and the story is original, focusing on our canine friends. Those are good reasons to try it. The HOS are clear, fairly easy and not your typical junk pile. There are more HOS than the, average but fun, puzzles yet they are not over done. Gameplay is mostly smooth and logical. A travel map is provided but it does not show active tasks. However, it does give you a good view of each scene so you can recognize if you need to go there. The hint button is also helpful with navigation. This game was really great fun from beginning to end.
Yes, this game may seem quite childish. If you are looking for kid friendly this is your pick. However, I usually go for darker themed stories and have recently branched out. For a change of pace I enjoyed playing all three of the Princess Isabella's. This time as Isabella's daughter, Bella, we have to save our fairy godmothers and mother from the witch's curse. I can't say if this one is my favorite but I still enjoyed it. It's bright and colourful. The story is fun and entertaining. There's lots to do, although somewhat repetitive. Few puzzles and not overwhelmed by HOS. Although some items were challenging, they were pretty easy. There is no map but I didn't feel it was needed. If you're in the mood for something light, simple and whimsical this is a good choice. Don't be turned off by it's cute and kiddish premise. I went outside my comfort zone and delighted my inner child. Not everyone's cup of tea but it may be worth a try.
It took me a little while to get into this game and I was almost put off by the number of HOS. However, most of the HOS were very interactive, others were simple and all were crisp and clear. The graphics and story were well done. There were few VO's but they also were done well. Puzzles were average difficulty. There was no map and it did create more challenge but the back and forth was not severe. The journal was sometimes helpful in pointing you in the right direction. The Hint button showed an objective in the scene but not necessarily one that can be completed. It stated when there was nothing to do. There was a nice Bonus Chapter in the CE but no collectibles or achievements which I found disappointing. Otherwise it was a fun game. I enjoyed it.
I loved this game. Good story line. Terrific graphics, everything is crisp and clear. I found the sounds and music very relaxing. Lots of places to visit. Two kinds of HOS, regular and "replace" object scene. Puzzles are fun and average difficulty. There is a travel map eventually provided that indicates active tasks. I would have liked to have seen collectibles, such as morphing objects, in the CE but it does have a Bonus chapter plus the other extras, wallpaper etc. I really enjoyed playing this one. Becoming one of my favorite developers. Looking forward to their next one.
What a fabulous game! Great, original story. The graphics are good. There is a travel map provided showing active tasks. Quite a few HOS but they are quick and easy, not overwhelming at all. Puzzles are unique and medium to hard difficulty. Overall it is fairly challenging. I thought the story and gameplay were intertwined well. Really, this is such a fun and creative game. I almost overlooked this one, I highly recommend not to do so.
Incredible! I cannot say enough good things about this imaginative game. The story is fairy-tale-ish with a shady side and keeps you immersed, integrating well with gameplay. The graphics are stunning and characters are interesting. There are lots of puzzles and mini-games. The few interactive HOS are various types. Everything is crisp, clear, fun and easy. You are provided a jump map that also indicates active tasks. It's also a good length. I loved the first Otherworld and this one surpasses even that. My only regret is that I didn't purchase the CE. Unfortunately there were no fairies to collect this time in the SE. Not to mention the other perks the CE offers. Otherwise, this is an excellent game. Top of my favorites list.
