Wonderful HOG, just the right length and challenge.
Pros: Beautiful graphics/voice-overs, HO scenes don't overshadow the game or take too long. Good linear structure -no back and forth, back and forth. Interesting cast of characters and intuitive play. Nice deep story and smooth (although not surprising) ending.
Cons: Music is annoying a bit -- and the opening uses an Edgar Allen Poe poem for a story that should have taken place at least a century before.
Beautiful addition to the Grim Tales series. It's fun to take the story out of the big houses and into a town. Fast game, highly enjoyable.
PROS: Great graphics, wonderful variety in creatures (goblins, stone people, miners). Nice voice-overs. Varied puzzles (I liked the inclusion of a mini-match 3). Generous hint feature and a map that lets you jump around quickly.
CONS: Not very intuitive. Had to use a couple "Do this with that" hints. Lots of jumping from one place to another (map helps). Scenes change while you aren't looking. Ex: after you clear a scene, a dog appears and you have to go find it, even though you don't have any prior memory of a dog.
Overall, I live the Grim Tales saga and this was a great addition. Fun, and interesting.
As a match 3 goes - Hellas 2 has it all - easy game play, lots of exploding things and arrows, puzzles, and city building.
Pros: puzzles (some of them quite hard- but skippable), different bonus things for each round so you are building new abilities but can only use 3 each round. Fun graphics.
Cons: A little repetitive, and almost too helpful. You don't really get to choose how you build and its sorta pointless - people complain about food, the next thing build is food, etc. The ending is abrupt and kinda a let down.
Overall a great game, good music, great way to spend time.
Take a journey through medieval times. Help Joan of Arc to build a new kingdom and change the fate of the people in this epic story of honor and courage.
Fun Match 3 for some down time or getaway. Help Joan of Arc build a city and protect her people (It helps if you manage to forget what eventually happened to Joan of Arc).
Pro's - fun challenges with different layouts, pleasant sounds (the items falling sounds like old-school typewriter keys and it's comforting), good graphics. Nice flexibility - 3 different ways to make the matches, lots of choices how to solve things.
Con's - They bring out the all "bombs" way too early - so you basically work with the same tool kit for the whole game. Music nice background but repetitive.
An older game with some clunky execution, but a good story an compelling lead character make it worth wading through.
Pros: Story is interesting, voice overs are done well, the graphics on the ghosts are compelling. The game tells you when you're done with a screen so you can move on. Mini games low-medium challenge.
Cons: Very dim graphics. Some objects small, hard to see, or in the "corners" half way out of the scene/screen. Cursor has to be super precise. Some items required several clicks to pick up/get it. Not all minigames had good instructions on how to play/objective.
Played the whole thing cause I wanted to see how it turned out but I slogged through a lot of the end.
This is a fun little game and good addition to the Spirits of Mystery serious. However, it has almost nothing to do with the Minotaur (who has about 1 minute of screen time in the whole game).
Pros: Story is inviting - particularly finding the lost pets - they really should have made that the sole objective. Puzzles low to Med. Generous hint button. Lovely graphics.
Cons: The odd drag queen shop keeper (the jar jar binks of this game), A little repetitive (the invisibility potion gets old), and unsatisfying ending.
Good fun, (Red Pandas!) but nothing to write home about.
Beautiful Game to look at, but a nonsensical storyline and a lot of jumping from place to place made is less than enjoyable for me.
Pros: Beautiful music, look, background. Puzzle challenge: low to medium. Long lasting game.
Cons: Another story merged into the traditional B&theB story makes it very hard to know what everyone is talking about. Plus - the story is strung out over the entire game so half the time you really aren't sure which of the stories you're following.
There is a lot of jumping around - go to the castle for one thing, go to the town for another, carry stuff forever, and the use it in a completely different place.
Non-intuitive stuff. There is no clear path through this game so there are a lot of times when you need to use hint just to figure out what in the room you need to do. Also a problem, the instructions on the minigames aren't very clear so you have to kinda guess how the games are played.
Overall, looks like they tried too hard. Next time a clean simply story would help everything along.
Pluses: The game play is fun - you get to buy things at the store, play with a dog, put stuff together - all toward the end on finding out who the killer is. Music not bad, graphics nice.
Minuses: The end. You're rolling along and BAM cut to s scene of the killer and its over. No explanation, no reason - just done. The story is loose to begin with and no wrap up makes it a mess.
Plus: good story, recurring character, items all match motif, neat mechanical background and sounds. Scenes lead smoothly one to another (a few back and forth but you don't need a map).
Minus: No Hint unless in a puzzle, Dim shadows - many of the HOS are on the dim side and dense - making things hard to see, humorless, repetitive HOS scenes (you find countless door handles). Abrupt, nonsensical end.
I played other Haunted Legends before this first one, so it was like a step back.
Story is interesting - although the end is abrupt and not explanatory in any way. Perhaps the collectors edition end is more satisfying. I do like chasing S.G. through the haunted legends games. He's a fun villain.
Puzzle challenge low to med. Didn't need to skip any.
Fantastic Graphics and a fun storyline plus an extremely helpful map make this a must-play for Christmas.
The story line feeds throughout the game, which is nice, and each scene is beautifully rendered.
Wish we could have seen the rat king be a little more evil - but the game has plenty of action. The actions are not always intuitive, but the game's best feature is a map that tells you where you need to be.
