I am so glad I got to play this game. The graphics and voiceovers are amazing and it has the feel of a mystery adventure thriller. You take on the role of the female detective, using your many skills including psychic powers to catch up with a cunning murderer, switching from 1888 London to present day Chicago during your investigation. There are three levels of difficulty, I did the hardest, but novice players can choose an easier level, there are also many hints available for those that need them in the form of dreamcatchers There are many puzzles and mini games, most are easy to average hardness but I was happy to see a handful of more challenging ones. There are many HOS scenes too but not excessive, with a nice twist of sometimes using an object description. There are also achievements to collect and the CE also has an extra chapter. This is a good length game and definite value for money. I cannot reccommend it enough. I want to see more of these type of games being developed, Well done to the developers, nice to see a woman as the detective.
This game was such fun to play. You need to go through different levels with a pirate story theme, using higher/lower cards. There are goals set in order to pass every level, which makes the game more challenging and exciting on the harder level that I played. However there is an easier level for players who prefer less of a challenge. You also need to free trapped cards as is the norm with these games and there is a random card which activates fun mini games like a treasure hunt, sinking a pirate ship etc. All in all a great experience for a relaxing enjoyable game. It took me many hours to complete so it offers value for money too, plus infinite replayability.
I have been really impressed with ERS's first two offerings of Grim Facade, I think it is their best series. In this one you are the detective cast back in Venice at the time of the plague, investigating the abduction of a mother and daughter. There is a lovely nostalgic Venetian scenery with beautiful crisp period graphics, including many lovely objects like roses, masks and fans that will appeal to many women. Music is nice too and voiceovers are good. I played on the advanced mode but there is an easier one too, for novice players. There are lots of HO's, but also many original puzzles. I was very happy to notice that although many were easy ERS did have 3-4 puzzles that were challenging which was excellent. I especially loved the one with the word and the other one with the skulls. I would like to see more of those puzzles in future games. There was also an easier but very pretty theatre play mini game. All in all an excellent experience, looking forward to the new offering The Price of Jealousy. A definite buy.
This game comes from ERS who are pretty good developers always using great graphics/sound and this game benefits from those. However I found the storyline less interesting than the original. There are lots and lots of HO so this game will appeal to HO enthusiasts, some puzzles too, a couple slightly harder than in the original which was nice to see, but too many had a music theme which is fine if you like everything about music. Overall a nice game, more suited for beginners.
Excellent Mystery Case Files early HO/Puzzle mystery game with infinite replayability. You are the detective who has been summoned to Ravenhearst Manor to solve a decades long mystery. You search the many rooms of the manor for clues, so you can find the pages from Emma's diary and piece together the intriguing storyline. The game has a spooky feel to it, with eerie music and sounds, sometimes you can hear Emma's voice too. To progress you need to find a myriad of hidden objects from the many rooms, playing against a timer which makes the HO scenes harder and much more interesting. At the end of each search of several rooms, you still have to solve a door open puzzle which can be quite challenging, a refreshing change from some of today's very easy games. Then you still have to piece together a delightful picture jigsaw puzzle which advances the storyline, all this still against the timer. It is a long game, it took me over 6 hours to complete, great for puzzle enthusiasts, offering a welcome challenge. I cannot wait to do the next one in the series. They don't make them like this anymore.
It has been such a pleasure to do this game. It is long and it has a great creepy storyline which accompanies the wonderful graphics and gameplay. As for the music, it is excellent, I found Mozart's requiem so delightful to listen to. There is a great variety of HO and puzzles most ranging from easy to medium hardness, with the odd harder one once in a while. The storyline is adoringly creepy as you arrive at your family mansion to try and save your sister after your parents were mysteriously murdered. There were no voiceovers or journal but that was ok, I would have liked to have seen an epert play mode though, to make it a little more difficult. However, the game is not easy by any means and it does offer a reasonably good challenge, although sparkles do appear. It is definitely worth the CE version with an extra chapter and other goodies like downloading music, sketches etc. I would definitely reccommend this, and would love to see more games like it.
This is an excellent adaptation of Sleepy Hollow, that I really enjoyed completing. You are constable Crane charged with arriving at Sleepy Hollow and bringing about the demise of the culprit who has been beheading his many victims. The voiceovers, graphics, and cut scenes are excellent, the music is also good. The CE has many extras, most notably a bonus sixth chapter, plus trophies and achievements. There are plenty of well made HO scenes but not excessive, I liked these ones, as sometimes the odd item or two were well hidden making it a little bit more difficult, even though there is a hint button for those preferring an easier challenge. Also you do not always use the items you find straight away, which makes the game more interesting. I played it on the difficult mode, and my only criticism would be that most of the puzzles were kind of easy and not plentiful. However there were new features such as combining two items to make one for further use, and I enjoyed the fact that the odd object may be well hidden once in a while. That added more value to the game. I would definitely reccommend this, I loved the film and I really like this game too.
I was quite pleased with this one as it is definitely an improvement on the first offering, the mystery of Mcilnoy Manor. The story is far fetched, but very enjoyable as you play the detective trying to unmask the real murderer of a woman killed many years ago, with her innocent husband wrongly executed on the electric chair. The graphics and voiceovers were good and there were two difficulty settings, I chose the hardest. I found that the puzzles were a little harder this time round, with one or two objects hidden in tricky places which made this game all the more interesting. A nice experience.
Don't get me wrong, this follow up to the original is still a nice game, with beautiful graphics sounds and voiceovers as is usual with ERS. However I thought there were very few puzzles which were too easy, and too many HO scenes, the balance was not right. Although the storyline is nice and the game is fun to play, it is just too easy even on the hard level that I played. I would have liked to have seen more and harder puzzles by ERS like they had in Sinister Obsession.
This is the first of the Shadow Wolf mysteries and it is a good one, especially for the less experienced player. You take on the role of the detective trying to solve a series of murders, which the townsfolk attribute to a werewolf. There are beautiful graphics and artwork, nice music and pretty good voiceovers. There are lots of HO scenes, I would have liked to have seen more puzzles than were present however. There are two modes of play, but even though I played on the hardest I still found many of the puzzles pretty easy, although there were a few of average hardness. I would like to see the developers offer us puzzles that are more challenging as this would greatly increase the appeal of this game.
