What a great story! A classic story made into a game. It was easy to follow, the characters made sense, the locations made sense, and it was just one of those games that is worth your time. I played in custom mode so didn't use hints or sparkles or anything like that. So the review below is based on that:
The map is interactive. You can click on the map to see areas that you have something to do. However, the locations have a name but as you move about with the cursor, you are not told the name of the room you are entering. For instance, if the map says you have something to do in the Secret Room you need to know what the Secret Room looks like as there are no names given as you enter. The map will allow you to go there so that's a possible solution.
The games were quite easy. This is the only ding on this game.
The HOPs were varied and easy to determine the objects. Others have detailed what types of HOPs are used so will not be discussed here.
The end was complete and didn't leave you wondering where the rest of the game was. Gotta love the games that actually conclude. :-)
This was not a long game but really worth your time and money.
I recommend this game!

There are other posts with TONS of details on the storyline, the puzzles, and just about everything else so I won't go into details on those. It is a good story and one I haven't seen before. There is an interactive map that will get you between points A and B if you choose. Sometimes this is needed since there is quite a bit of ground to cover and sometimes it's just easier. The taskbar does not lock which is somewhat annoying but not the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. The HOPs are done well with clear graphics and objects are drawn the way that you would expect. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars is that the puzzles are REALLY easy. There was only one that had any challenge to it (for me) where you had to rotate the circles and get the parts to line up. The rest are just busy work without much thinking required. I prefer a game where I have to think about the puzzles. As others have also said, the bonus chapter is really short and the ending is odd and abrupt. Don't expect anything to be resolved because it won't be. Short story is that if you like good graphics, good stories, and good HOPs, this is your game. If you want a puzzle challenge, check out my favorite.
I recommend this game!

This review is based on the demo which I strongly suggest you play before buying. As others have already said, the graphics are quite nice with lots of details and appropriately gloomy.
The HOPs are pretty messy and somewhat difficult to find some objects as they are not "normal" items that you would typically find in other games. The smoking pipe looks more like a hooka, an eraser is just a little square of dark pink that doesn't look much like an actual eraser, and several other odd items.
The puzzles are very easy for anyone that plays BF games on a regular basis.
The map is not interactive which is a big problem as the game opens up a LOT of rooms at the beginning so if you need to get back to the main lobby from the cottage, you need to keep on clicking to get back. The map does have areas indicated where there is something to do so the interactive part is a big miss.
The taskbar where items are located is not able to be locked open so every time you come close to it, it opens and shuts.
And finally, there is no choice for how you want to play the game so everyone has to see sparkles in areas that have HOPs or other areas of interest. I prefer to find my own but you are not given a choice.
Happy game playing!

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why this has such a high rating. I bought it outright because it had such a high rating. Dumb move! I hated it. OK, so to be honest, I didn't finish it (only one other in the 11 years I have been a member of Big Fish games) so can't tell you if it ends well or just remains boring, not challenging, and an outright bad game. Why am I so negative? There are a LOT of HO games. I mean a lot. You get an object, and use it pretty much where you were. No movement required in most cases and you don't collect many objects before they are used. It's not like you have to think about how to use them either. I played a few puzzles which were so basic I would guess a 3rd grader could master them . There are not many of these. The scenery is gray and dreary. Sorry but I have to say that if you think that this is the game for you, try the demo first. I would REALLY have loved it if I had. :-(
I don't recommend this game.

Witches' Legacy: The Dark Throne Collector's Edition
The witches' dark legacy continues as Lynn becomes possessed!
Am I playing the same game as these people that gave this one 5 stars? This is by far the worst of the Witches Legacy games and probably one of the worst games I have played in my 11 years of being a BFG member. I had not played any in this series up until recently so started from the beginning of the series and had been having a good time...until I got to this one. There are way too many cut scenes, the HOPs are lame, and the puzzles are essentially non-existent and when they are available, they take 10 seconds to complete. Their one novelty seems to be having one of the HOPs upside down. Really? I do have to admit that I didn't finish the game so there might be something interesting in one of the later chapters. But after chapter 3, I gave up. It was way too boring. Play at your own risk.
I don't recommend this game.

Dark Parables: Requiem for the Forgotten Shadow Collector's Edition
A dark illness has befallen the townspeople of Anaben!
Let's face it...I really don't care if the storyline is fabulous or not. I want some good puzzles...something to keep me challenged. This game has just that. This particular puzzle shows up several times and gets progressively harder as the chapters go on. It's definitely worth the price of the game. Now the story isn't bad either, in case that's your thing. Oddly though, the end had a summary screen that started typing the words off at a pretty good clip. I was on the last line when the screen went blank. So read fast!!

OK, let's just get past the fact that this is a MCF game. It's not the same as the earlier ones, for sure. But as far as a game goes, this is one to play. This took quite a long time to finish and it was not just a basic find an object and move along type of game like so many of the others. You definitely needed to refer back to your journal in order to complete some of these puzzles. Some puzzles were multi-step ones - some were easy and some made you think.
Now the story...as one of the others already stated, it does get a little confusing. I swear there was a name used near the beginning that was NEVER used again. And then the issue with the Assistant. I never did figure that one out. If you get it and leave a review, please enlighten me.
Other than that, the game was long, had some great puzzles, and was not just a straightforward HOP and basic puzzle kind of game. I'd recommend it.
I am pretty tough to please with a lot of these games, but I found one I really liked. I started with the demo and got about 10 minutes in before realizing that I had to buy it as I would not be happy just playing for a little bit. The storyline is pretty interesting with the player being Lady Jane, the Queen's right hand woman, who is charged with getting proof that the Queen is not a witch. Her "helper" Louis, a cutie with pretty blue eyes and not a cat, dog, or other animal like some of the other games assists her in obtaining the needed proof.
There are only a couple of somewhat tough puzzles that I would love to be able to play again but most of them are pretty easy. The HOPs are not difficult but are not all the "seek and find" variety but a good mix of the silhouettes, matching, and seeking types. Regions that are no longer of interest are closed so you don't have to worry about going too far back to find the location of interest.
This is one of the better games I've played in a while. Have fun!
I recommend this game!

This is a very nice game with good sounds, good graphics, good HOPs and just a generally good game. There is a bit of looking around and going from room to room but that's expected. My only criticism would be that the location stays open after you have found all of the objects in the location. This is a little odd. Other than that, the game is worth the money.

This game has an interesting story and some good graphics BUT there are way too many cut away scenes for my taste. The demo was almost entirely a CAS...OK I am exaggerating but it sure seemed like it. I want to play a game, not watch a movie so sorry, but I cannot recommend this game.
