It's been a long time since I've played a game that I would give 5 stars to, but this one is a winner. I don't review the storyline since that's not typically a make or break for me on a game. I look for a game that has some challenge to it with good puzzles and objectives that might not be so obvious to complete. This one's got that. The puzzles range from the very easy to ones that require a bit of thought. The game itself is quite long so don't expect to finish it in one night unless you skip a lot of the puzzles or use a walkthrough.
My only concern with this game is the heroine who falls off a cliff and get a scraped foot, gets shoved in the water and swims to shore, or any of the other pitfalls that befall her. It's a little bizarre to give her these superhuman powers. And her comments need to be fixed, too. She's full of inane "don't cry over spilled milk" comments that are just plain weird.
But getting past that, the game is a keeper. I didn't played the demo so don't know if that is representative of it. But I know I feel good about having paid the full price for this one. Happy gaming!!

I haven't had this bad of an experience in quite some time. I should have known it was going to be bad when Jane was driving down the road, in a downpour, without the wipers on. I mean really, how hard would it have been to add wipers in the scene? Anyhow, the puzzles are boring, the story is old, and the HOPs are a snooze fest. Play the demo first in case you agree.

I am usually pretty critical of games since most of them these days are loaded with mini-games that are way too easy and HOPs that are only challenging to a 3rd grader. This is not one of those games. Some of the mini-games are still pretty easy but there are enough of the more difficult ones to offset those. Te HOPs are varied with some being very basic and some not. I was not disappointed. Enjoy!!

WHAT? Am I playing the same game as these people who gave it a 5? I have only stopped playing a game once before (about 7 years ago) so it's unusual that I can't get through one of these. But this one is a huge YAWNER! Geez. It took 10-15 minutes to get out of the carriage and then another 10-15 minutes to get past the first scene. The talking is endless and cannot be skipped. And scenes kept cutting away to be covered with something that was supposed to look like a crime scene or something. I am going to go watch "Cinderella" so that I can think happy thoughts again. Play the demo! Save your money!

This review is based on completing the entire CE. So people are complaining about the lack of a story but I have to say that after a gazillion games have been made, just how many variations in a storyline can there really be? So I am not going to ding this game for a repeated storyline of an experiment gone bad and a town destroyed by a crazy scientist. My review is based on the puzzles, the programming, the length of the game, and the level of difficulty. I use a custom setting for the games with no tutorial, no skip, no sparkles but I use the map to tell me if something is left to be done. There are quite a few puzzles but most are either easy or moderate difficulty. I really like puzzles so these might be more difficult for some. The HOPs are not difficult either but they are a little different than your typical find the object. The length of the game is a concern. For a CE, I would have expected more. This game seemed to be about as long as most standard games. My computer crashed on the second to last chapter and I had to go back and restart my profile. It took about 90 minutes to catch back up. Hmmm.. The map is very useful if you have it turned on. It shows when you have all tasks completed, allows you to zip to a location and will also tell you if you have found a collectible. There is a bonus chapter with extra games if you have found enough of the collectible flowers. A big gripe I have is that you cannot go back in to a location that has been locked to see if you can find the remaining collectibles. All in all a good game to play but I would recommend the standard edition and not the CE.
I don't recommend this game.

Lost Lands: The Four Horsemen
The Lost Lands are in danger again... There's only one brave soul who can face the four evil horsemen to save it – you!
I am not one to give a review on the storyline. There are others that have done this is great detail. My reason for adding a review is so that you can get an idea as to the type of game this is....
The game starts off nicely with the heroine being transported to the Lost Land. There are a couple of locations with easy HOGs and a couple of easy puzzles to solve. At this point it is easy to remember how to get between each of the locations. As the game progresses, more and more locations are opened up. It is NOT an easy task to remember how to get to all of the locations, nor what task was still remaining in those locations when you were last there. The map has a tab section where all of the locations are listed so that you can click on an area and then zip on over there. That's the only way most people are going to be able to finish this game. If you are not a fan of using the map, you are going to be wandering around for hours on end.
I found the jumping all over the place to be tedious so am giving this game a lower rating than most. Also, I like puzzles in my game. Since there are not many in this one, the rating reflects that.
You will not get a good indication of how good or bad this game is by playing the demo as the demo does not go far enough for you to get a feel for how confusing/tedious it is to click a mouse to get from Location A to Location B and have to visit locations C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J to get there. Sorry.
It's not often that I give a game 5 stars but this one deserves it. My review is based on playing the entire game.
The story is pretty interesting even though that's never a deal breaker for me. I have never played any of the Lost Lands games before so have to assume that the lead character is in all of them. There are quite a few cut scenes but it is not distracting and adds just the right information.
There are a lot of areas that need to be visited but there is a map so if you get lost (like I do) you can consult the map for the way to get to a location. Or you can just hit the location on the map and go there if you like the fast route.
Most important for me is the puzzles. If the puzzles are too easy, it's not a good game. This one has just the right level of challenge. some of the puzzles actually take a bit of time to figure out. Some are way too easy but there is a good balance.
I'm going to go and play another one in this series to see if they are all like this. Have fun!

After playing the fantasy Mosaics, I decided to give this series a try and have to say it was difficult to get going on this. The areas that are blocked off (ones that you have marked as not getting a color) are not as distinct as they should be. If the color to mark in that area is also a light color it is even more difficult. I didn't see this as an option in the settings but if I am, then the overall rating should go up as the puzzles are good.
This is not the best mosaic game out there. One of the biggest issues I had with this game was the inability to right click to "delete" the selection. If you select a series of squares, there is no way to not select at least one of them. So counting the series is slow as it has to be done one by one. The images are also somewhat difficult to distinguish.

I bought this based on the high ratings and am not disappointed. It is a pretty good game for most and will be an enjoyable way to pass several hours. A couple of pros and cons...
The balls at the bottom of the screen indicate whether there are morphing objects, spells, roses, or such in the area. This is not common for many games and is a big plus. I don't like it when I get to the end of the game and have missed one morphing object and can't get back.
There are several characters that the game switches between. Some might not like this but I didn't mind. It was easy enough to follow.
Some of the puzzles were way too easy (even playing on hard). A couple were not clear and really needed a bit more explanation. But there were a lot of them. And I do mean a lot. So if you like puzzles, this is a great game for you.
There is no journal to go back to in order to remember who was who. Bluebeard had several wives and each had a kid. I couldn't tell you who belonged to whom at this point. This is a con in my opinion.
The map is interactive. :-)
The bonus game was similar to the main game in content.
You can go back and play the puzzles after you've finished. Sometimes there are a couple that are a lot of fun so this is a definite pro.
