with those who pass on this game. And I really wanted to like this game. But the combination of fuzzy drawing/painting, clonky engine and graphic scene of a poisoned cat turned me off completely. It could have been done so much better!
Well done story and sequel about Loch Ness. Good story line, could follow all the actions, and characters. Collectibles especially the constellations are very hard to find. With just clicking around I found some, even the SG (strategy guide) didn't help; there was one scene in the SG that was missing (! which was why it only got 4 stars on fun factor), but I found the constellation just by clicking every square inch of the scene! Especially interesting for youngsters learning about the planet and those new to HO games, it was nonetheless very entertaining and a good solid game.
I loved the first Fox mystery, but this one leaves me cold, mostly because they've left out the involvement of the characters and talking to them to figure out who did it. It devolved into just a HOG. A shame. I'm finishing the game, but it's slow going without the fun of the animal perps. It's a warning to me - watch the whole preview before you buy!
I think Anna Gray and team have finally got their groove back. These were excellent stories, and I quite enjoyed them. Very well programmed, with inventive artwork and surprise developements. I mean, well the baddies are still the baddies, but we get a fresh story and new energy. I'm hoping the next one will be just as great! I especially enjoyed the young person they added, with out going all goth and angst. There was a tiny tribute to Dad, but sadly I guess he's gone for good. Unless....? !!! Strongly recommend this game
I love that somehow some of our Ukrainian devs have come back. Loved the reference to the 1000 year aniversary of the city of Kiev. Also loved the bonus story and hope there will be more of the "cat's cat" and the maid solving mysteries together.
Normally I like the annual "Christmas Stories" even if some of them are a bit simpler. But this year I somehow found it so boring I finally finished up the main game now, at the end of February! Couldn't even muster the interest to play the bonus game. Ok game, but perhaps only for younger players?
I enjoyed this game for what it is: a straightforward Hidden Object game. Lovely photographic illustrations, some of the keys are hard to find, which adds to the interest. Fascinating bits of information about the places you go. I will have many hours of finding hidden objects and letting my brain rest!
in addition I found I had to double click on some items or decisions to get the screen to respond. This is a "companion" piece to "Secrets of Worlds" at least it's the same concept, just a bunch of HOS strung together with a very confusing story/plot. Don't bother
I actually quite enjoyed this game, although it took a long time to get through. Two reasons: 1. Way to much "speachifying" by the characters. I was afraid to skip because I might miss a clue, but then I ended up not playing the game for awhile 2. The story was not tight with their narrative. Needed an editor. Also mixing up Goldilocks, Santa and the tale of the Winter witch was a bit too much, sort of like a bad trail mix!
I had some difficulty finding all the morphs and christmas stockings (I missed one of each) but this is not necessarily bad, as it is more challenging.
Altogether I would recommend this game but be warned; parts are really boring!
I enjoyed playing this, the latest in the long line of MCF games. I've played the from the very first. I liked that there were plenty of HOS; two (more than usually hard to find) "home" morphs in each scene, and a very tiny (and sometimes missed!) puzzle piece. A refreshing change from the easy peasy ones. Also a very handy short wait time before skipping puzzles, which can be problematic for me. (But not always, I was pleased to be able to solve several more than I usually do!)
The story line (friends lost in a spooky isolated manor house in winter) wasn't that unusual, (other than having the obligatory royal in a British themed game) but it was believable.
