The wild, wild west! Not as wild as I had thought it would be but this game had some charm really. Nice rustic scenes of a ghost town. Just finished playing this SE version and I have to say it had its moments. Reminds me of the games of old. The mechanics of the game was pretty cool actually. I had to click my mouse several times though to complete the task but all in all this was not a bad game. A short one at that and a very abrupt ending. Some of the voiceovers did not fit the character but they were okay. Sound effects were cool. Artwork was okay--simplistic. Good map and hint button; and pretty cool hidden objects--nothing to write home about though. I would still recommend this game. A no brainer and quick.
Considering what I had been playing previously, I'm giving this wonderful game a straight five-star rating! Bravo, Grandma Studios developers. True, the puzzles and mini-games were easy but they were very clever and delightful to play. I love Grandma Studios--they are attentive to detail, artwork is snap-on, the mechanics-structure-organization of their games is one of the best around. The storyline was okay. I enjoyed saving those trapped in the stories. I was able to use the inventory items pretty quickly. There was no map which would have been more helpful, but all in all I'm not the least bit sorry that I bought this game! Collecting the morphing objects, the dragonflies, and a bonus game not to mention unlocking a hidden chapter. I felt I got a whole lot of bang for my buck out of this game! Loved the flow of the game, the music, the voiceovers. Great all around. Yes, I definitely recommend this game.
Good mystery to solve, I'll give it that! I just completed the SE version of this game and it's not bad actually, but not good enough to warrant a 4 or 5 star rating,in my opinion.
I'm disappointed in the fact that there weren't more bells and whistles considering the collaboration of the two developers for this project. The HOPS were boring and old-school; the mini-games were okay, better than some. I liked the storyline; collecting the evidence was real cool, but I'm sorry to say I couldn't take the back n' forth business once again, and the ridiculous tasks thrown at us.
To me, the flow of the game was poor. I was getting bored retrieving items that took forever to complete. All elementary! However, this game had it's brilliant moments, thus, I'm giving it a 3.50 star rating.
The voiceovers were good--some were better than others; graphics the same; lots of tasks to perform, but again, some were amusingly ridiculous to complete plus the fact you had items in your inventory that seemed to have lingered there for an eternity. The map was great and you have a good hint button.
I do recommend this game. Try it or buy it. I'm not sorry that I bought it. It just wasn't a 'wow' factor for me!
I have to say that these developers are pretty good and they have great potential but they need to improve on a few things. I just finished the SE version.
The graphics were really good; many of the objects were foreign to me but I'm used to that. But some of the tasks were senseless to me. The music and chorus were wonderful and I enjoyed that a lot.
What I didn't like was the strategy of the game--the same old amulets, runes; mini-games where you had to find the rune that didn't appear on the opposite side. Those are so boring, that I decided to skip a couple. I hardly ever skip puzzles or mini-games. The HOPS were okay, nothing to write home about.
The flow of the game was not that great to me. I'll use the dungeon scene as an example. I managed to escape but ended up going back to it at least 3 times. This is senseless to me and quite frustrating. Complete the scene and move on. I also had to click several times on an object to complete it. If you didn't click on the right spot, it wouldn't work. Very frustrating and that takes the joy out of game playing for me. Plus you had to find several items in other areas to complete one object. Another frustration for me. I realize this is often the case in many games but this was overkill.
The voiceovers were good; the storyline was meh! The characters were good-looking. This game had some pretty neat moments but not enough for me to rate this game any higher than 3 stars. I wish these developers well. They need to work on the momentum and strategy. Get the glitches out as well. Going back to a dangerous spot over and over again is silly and illogical.
The puzzles and mini-games were so-so. I was becoming a little bored but then a ghost appeared named Gradlon! He piqued my interest at least for a moment!
I still recommend the game. Try it out first. It just didn't float my boat.
I'm giving this game a 3-star all around. Wasn't bad but there was no logic to many of the tasks. The fact that I had to take 3 to 5 steps to complete an item is ludicrous. I honestly do like these devs. Always have and always will, but I think they can do a whole lot better.
I completed the entire CE version and the game does have a lot to offer. It had its moments but with all due respect, the wow factor wasn't there for me, sorry to say.
Also, returning to the same scenes over and over again gave me a headache. Good hint button though. Nice map. But this back n' forth business was silly and made no sense to me. You go through the trouble of nearly killing yourself to get to a destination and to have to return to the previous areas more than once is ludicrous! I thought the gameplay lacked originality. The flow was fair at best.
There's an item that was stuck in the tree for the longest time. Three to four scenes later is where you'll find the object to get it down! I could have used a long branch from that same tree. Not so here!
Also, I was getting a little tired of finding several pieces for strange gadgets. The HOPS were mediocre; the mini-games were okay. Believe it or not, I really do like Elephant Games but I think they need to improve their strategy.
The graphics were fine, but I was growing weary of some of the gloomy, cob-web scenes, debris, and the good, old zipper pull. Ugh! Morphing items were cool; postcards were neat. Voiceovers were good; storyline was interesting. I still recommend this game. Try it or buy it, it's up to you.
I love Domini Games developers and this SE game is right up my alley. I am half-way through it and am loving every minute of it. Yeah, you've got some corny tasks once again, where you have to go through all the hoops and bounds to complete a task and only to come up with lock pick or whatever, but the tasks are so cleverly done that I don't mind it at all. There are mini-games within mini-games, which can be challenging but not difficult at all and are so much fun. I'm actually having a blast!
The graphics are wonderful but I'm hoping I'll see more colors and scenery. I love the special effects and the sound effects a whole lot. Also, if you click on certain areas in the scene you will get a reaction. It's an added touch! Very cool! Love these developers! They are top notch! They've got a great sense of humor as well!
The voiceovers are great especially the voiceover for Sabastian Fleming, the dead director. What a riot! Sabastian's ghost feeds off your fears. He's looking for that special closeup; that perfect reaction!
The storyline, which I don't need to get in to, is not that unusual but I have to find Maya and her colleagues which takes place in this theatre. They've suddenly disappeared!
Try the demo and see what you think. I love this game; it's refreshing to play a game that is intelligently thought out. Well done devs! Well done! I highly recommend this game!
I do love Elephant Games developers and always will but this CE version, though not bad, was not of the same quality as their previous games. It had its moments, but the best part of the game was being able to change the past. You're Anna and you go back in time to basically change drastic events. And I didn't need a time machine to get me there.
I just completed the entire CE version. I wasn't wowed by the game. After you complete the Bonus Game you can then access the Secret Room to find morphing objects in various scenes you have frequented before. I wasn't pleased with how teeny tiny those morphing objects were. Graphics were okay but nothing to write home about. Collectibles, morphing objects, puzzle pieces to tackle and for once I got them all. Voiceovers were okay. The special effects was real nice.
I'm rating the game a 3-star. I recommend this game.
I love 4Friends Games. These developers are very talented especially in the design/graphics field. I'm rating this game a 4-star based on visual context, the HOGs, the mini-games, morphing objects and collectibles. Logic on the other-hand doesn't leave much to be desired. Most developers make you go through loops and bounds, for instance, just to find a paperclip, for instance, to unlock a door or pull a zipper. Elementary my dear! Elementary! But it's all in fun and it's a stress-buster.
This game is visually beautiful, and I love animals. I loved the storyline. I've never been to Iceland but something tells me this is not what Iceland looks like but I'll go along with it. I'd rather play a game like this than those gloomy, depressing, dreadful games where you're pretty much stuck underground for most of the game. I need beautiful scenery, bright, vibrant colors, crisp objects. HOGS that are fun to play. Objects that I can decipher and this game has that! So in that respect, they deserve at least a 4-star rating, though there was far too much dialogue for my taste, the voiceovers were great (you can skip the dialogue.)
I highly recommend this visually, beautiful, fun game! Good job developers!

Pretty clever game & Sunward Games is not without humor, that's for sure. I mean the creatures alone were comical at best. There was one creature who wore sort of a Viking helmet and hanging from its horns were keys. Well really tickled my funny bone. The humor alone deserves a 5-star but, in my opinion, I don't think this game, on the whole, warrants a 5-star. If you want to know what the story is read the summary that is offered with every game by Big Fish.
I'm halfway through the main game on this CE version. You have collectibles and such. There were lots of puzzles, which dominated the game and that's not bad because they were pretty clever. But I was beginning to get bored. The hidden objects were okay, some better than others. The graphics were very good but some of the items were really hard to decipher and/or find. I try not to use the hint button that often because I am always determined to find the darn things on my own. But it was a challenge at times.
The music was very good but the sound effects were annoying and repetitious. Developers need to learn to incorporate sound effects and music strategically throughout the game. The last thing I want is to be annoyed by any given sound when I'm very engrossed in a task or puzzle/mini-game. I hated to turn the sound down but I kept the music on. So it's good that we have the option to lower or mute the sound effects and/or music if we wish to do so.
The flow of the game wasn't all that great to me. I was all over the place with items in my inventory still hanging around, and, again, had no idea what some of the items were but that's part of the challenge I suspect. Even so, I'm rating the game 3.5 stars.
The game was pretty good. Neat storyline but lifeless characters as far as I'm concerned. The mechanics-movement of the characters was not that great, in my opinion. The graphics were okay but I was not dazzled by them. I guess that's because of the topic--gloomy storyline. How do you paint murder anyway? Black and red?
I enjoyed finding twelve of a any specific item and/or even finding sets of specific items over those boring, typical hidden object scenes to be honest. That part I really enjoyed. The flow was pretty good, too.
I do like these developers and will continue to try or buy their games. This review is short because I've noticed so far my somewhat negative comments from a couple of other reviews never made the cut for some reason.
