I'm one-quarter into this laid-back game and realized I missed the other 7. How? It's beyond me! Like Vacation Adventures, it's an ease-on-up kind of game. Play it at your leisure and find the objects, collectibles, angels; but the puzzles and games, though, not real hard, are tedious at best. No sweat! The items are small to find but that's what makes it a little challenging and lots of fun.
I love Christmas and the decorations and the snow. So cozy! The scenes are very intricate. Music is repetitious but pleasant enough. Love the puzzles and games. For its genre, it's tops in my book!
I highly recommend this game. I'm glad I purchased it and plan to get the others regardless--thanks to Big Fish discounts!
I'm playing the SE version; actually I'm playing three different games as I'm going back n' forth to each of them, so I hope I don't get this review mixed up with the others.
Okay, back to Queen's Quest: Tower of Darkness. I want to like this game, really I do, but it's becoming very hard for me to get fired up. The flow doesn't leave much to be desired. I'm getting tired of clicking away with no results and to be told that there is something needed. No kidding, Sherlock, I got that already! But then I click on another area and it's the same thing. This game is not cuttin' it for me thus far. I'm now forcing myself to go on, but it does have some positive aspects.
I'm given a magical fairy called Violet whose sole purpose is to protect my baby and help me find her. But Violet should be placed on the side of my screen as other helpers are instead of being situated in the inventory. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what Violet can do for me. She already has helped out a couple of times. It's because of this dear fairy and the baby that I want to continue on with this journey.
The graphics are beautiful for this genre. There are cute creatures and characters. The movement of the characters is puppet-like. I was looking for the strings! I think the devs are toying with us or tormenting us, or perhaps they do have a sense of humor after all.
Anyway, back to the storyline: The King's daughter found the husband of her dreams--Prince Henrik. By the way, on my laptop's monitor, Prince Henrik's eyes are aqua blue! He is cute for sure. Amusing at best! He and his gorgeous wife have the cutest little baby who is about to receive the Royal Blessing on her first birthday. An evil wizard called, The Witcher, suddenly appears in the throne room and kidnaps the baby. But it seems that he and Prince Henrik already know each other. Hmm, something is not right here. The wizard has the entire city under siege. Mama needs to go after her baby, nonetheless. Yes, mama. The adventure begins, and I have to admit, it is entertaining.
I know I should try the demo, but I'm not sorry that I bought the game. I think demos can be helpful but not all the time. I am rating this game three stars. It does have its moments. As I mentioned, the flow is sub-par. Just my opinion. This is the kind of game that would be great to play when travelling on a plane or train. There are enough tasks to do for sure but as for me, it's a frustrating journey.
The tasks are clever; lots of HOPs and brilliantly displayed. Right now I'm playing a HOP that has a porcelain doll in the pile of things to find that looks so realistic. The artwork is beautiful!
The music sounds like synthesizer music but it's good. The voiceovers are very good. The map is okay and laid out in a sketch format. it does transport you. I do enjoy reading the Diary, though, which is a big help to me.
I still recommend this game. Try it out first. (I should follow my own advice I think!)
The World of Order is a harmonious and sunny realm and full of magical and mythical creatures. Aspir is the overlord and tyrant of the World of Chaos and is attempting to seize the World of Order. The World of Chaos is a fiery and ever-changing place. Aspir needs the soul of a Seeker. It will help him get into the real world and capture human souls. Then he will be invincible. The souls of Seekers are different from those of ordinary people. Aspir will need an ancient artifact to drain it. I am a Seeker and my sister, Margaret found out that she had this gift, too.
I’m more than half-way through the Main Game in this CE version, so I'm basing my review on what I've played thus far.
The storyline is very good, and Domini Games devs have thought out the game-plan very nicely. It is well-organized and has loads of interesting tasks, puzzles/mini-games, HOPs, and a variety of collectibles to collect to keep the player quite busy. You will get a lot of bang for the buck on this game.
I am fond of fantasy games, but it’s not particularly my favorite genre. Even so, you will have quite an adventure trying to find an artifact that was lost a long time ago. The Knowledge Keeper, Keira, knows where it is. She happens to live in the tower on the highest island. The only way you can reach it is on a magical dragon, but you have to first tame him, and once done he will help you.
The graphics for this particular genre is wonderful. Vibrant, crisp, cool colors and many intricate objects throughout every scene. I have not experienced any blurriness from this game just yet. What I have encountered often is a one to two-second delay upon completion of each task. No big deal but I know it’s not my new laptop causing that.
This game is very puzzle/mini-game driven, so be prepared for that. Some puzzles require you to move an object to one place while others will move as well. With all due respect, I find these boring. They are tedious and require patience but they are not the most challenging and are my least favorite mini-games. But there are other good puzzles for sure.
The voiceovers are one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. Most of the voices fit the character except for one and that is Aspir’s voice. Though the voiceover for Aspir is quite good, it does not fit the character. I would have used an actor with a rougher voice. Still it was very good!
The music and the special effects are amazing. You have several modes of play—the harder you play the less help you get as with most games. By the way, the map is very good. I’m rating this game 4.25 stars. I commend the devs on their efforts. I definitely recommend this game. But if you’re not sure, try it out.
The Code of the Keepers is to 'keep' the existence of artifacts a secret, even from those closest to you. The Keepers maintain peace and safety throughout the world. A Keeper must find artifacts and confiscate them from unauthorized persons. A Keeper must not use artifacts for personal gain. So on and so forth...Alexandra Anderson is the Keeper! (Echo, echo, echo!!)
Anyway, someone damaged the Visual system apparently Paul Anderson got in and blocked the whole first floor. Alexandra, the Keeper needs to get in the building! And in order for her to enter, she needs to get through the security system; she also needs a crystal prism and will have to repair the damaged VISUAL system, which I call the EYE! Bing, bang, boom! Found what I needed, did what I had to, and got in. And it's not that this game is too easy, it happens to be very well-organized. There is a sense of order. That's one of the many things I look for in a good game! The tasks should make sense and they are so far.
I'm 45 minutes into the CE version and I am really digging the storyline, and the variety of tasks, the game-flow, you name it. I know I may very well be running ahead of myself but I found me a winner! My gosh, there was so much to do within this time-frame already! So I'm hoping the flow continues because this is right up my alley, folks! Elefun devs, you're phenomenal!
Ingenious tasks, beautiful artwork for this particular project, and the funky music sort of brings me back to bell-bottom/elephant pants days. I'm hoping the repertoire is not limited to just that one tune though funky as it may be. Even so, I'll be too engrossed doing other things and enjoying myself. The HOPs, mini-games/puzzles are very enjoyable.
I need to get back to the game and find me some morphing objects, collectibles, and there are quite a few of those in addition to all the fun things you will need to do in this game. Oh, yes, there is a gadget and probably a few more but I don't mind. I guess some things are needed to prolong the game. LOL!
I say go for it, folks. Try it out first. I can usually tell within five minutes into the game if I'm going to like it or not, and I'm hooked! I'm glad that I purchased it and definitely recommend it. Great job, devs! But once again, to each his/her own.
Reviews do matter to me and I base a lot of my decisions on other reviewers' comments, whether positive or negative; and I deeply respect everyone's opinions--some reviewers go into great detail about the mechanism of the game, game-play, and whatnot. I appreciate the time they have taken to do so. For me, what I like in a good game are as follows: the strategy, game-flow; wonderful graphics/scenery, music, and a decent storyline. It wasn't too long ago when all that was out there were demons and witches--muddy, murky, and depressing scenery with too much of the occult theme. This game is visually lovely and not as dark (so far) as I have played in the past. The music is very good. Right now the mini-games/puzzles seem to be outnumbering the HOS, but no matter. They are very cleverly done and thought-provoking; and when the HOS do appear, they're not bad.
Compared to the previous game I played, this game is a breath of fresh air! I have to agree with Skullfun. I'm finding this game to be very exciting. Though it's not the perfect game, the fact is I'm not bored and I'm not rushing to finish it. It's a game that does have an interesting storyline--corny and typical, but intriguing.
The neat thing is when collecting multiple items to complete a task, you can still use what you have in your inventory rather than wait until you collect say all three items. This way it eliminates clutter in your inventory. There is a method to Mad Head Games madness, and I'm liking it! I'm almost half-way in to this SE version of Fright Chasers: Soul Reaper, and I am enjoying myself immensely, and that's what matters to me the most!
For your map, you have a cell phone which I love, love, love! Speaking of cell phones, when this one rings, you had better answer it, or that thing will ring for an 'eternity!'
Gadgets can be redundant; Pennmom36 is right about that, but in this case, I don't mind the camera feature. Also, using the cell phone as a map is truly clever! And, oh, I was able to track down an address and inputting it into the GPS--cool, cool, cool! Mad Head Games, bravo! The phonebook and list was right-on devs!
The game-flow is SPOT-ON and so far it's been smooth sailing. True, there could be better instructions here n' there, and the storyline is pretty much your typical whodunit, but we shoiuld be used to it by now, or at least I am.
I suggest you try the demo first and see for yourselves. We've all got our own tastes--and we can always agree to disagree. For me, this game is wonderful, and I highly recommend it.
As for my irritation, it stems from having to find not one, nor two, but more often than not, three items to complete a task. Another irritation is those inventory items that are still sitting there scene by scene! Let's get rid of them already!! Exasperation personified!
The storyline is okay; the music is good; the graphics are stunning, the voiceovers are great! The special effects are neat, but I noticed some of the scenes/frames move in slow motion and some scenes were choppy. My laptop is brand new and a 2018 model; I just think there's a bug or two in the game.
I do love Domini Games and the devs really did a great job on this one. I'm playing the CE version and nearing the end of the Bonus Game. Very good fantasy storyline. Odd, but good. This Secret City-London is not like the London I would like to visit someday, and it inhabits the Lakrians, Yotuns, Dwarves and no Human has ever seen or tread their world until now. I'm there to investigate a series of strange murders that threatens the peace among the three races of these magicians, giants and dwarves (or dwarfs).
Speaking of Lakrians, they look so human until you see those second set of hands dangling out of nowhere --creeps me out! LOL!
I'm doing well in collecting my artifacts; puzzles are great--some are challenging and some not. But I'm enjoying those and especially the HOPS with a variety of interactive fun things to do. Way to go, devs!
I suggest you try the game out for yourselves. Even though I'm rating this game 3-1/2 stars, I'm not sorry that I bought it. I still recommend it.
I just completed the entire CE version of this game. Loads and loads of things to do. And the best part is that this CE version with all its bells and whistle happened to be quite useful unlike some other CE versions that just have collectibles and morphing objects. I did collect all the morphing objects in the HOS, and got all the owls and souvenirs. And at the end of the Bonus Game you can retrieve what you missed. The owls were easy to find in some scenes but really tricky in some others. Very good, Eipix! Great job with this game.
The tasks and objects were very intricate and were cleverly stationed throughout the scenes. However some items were a mite too small for me to determine what the heck they were but all in all, Eipix is great for their strategy and game-play. But as with all other developers finding fancy wrenches in a safe that required a combination, blah, blah, blah, is so elementary. But that type of rationale is pretty much typical. But Eipix gave us a variety of tasks to accomplish which I thought was one of the best I have encountered.
The music was nice and unobtrusive. The visuals were lovely, which is usual with Eipix. I loved the variety of mini-games, puzzles and interactive HOPS. Excellent!
And unless I blinked and missed it I didn't witness the actual explosion, (won't give it away here), and I went through all that trouble to piece together that blasted detonator! Eipix is well-known for its special effects and I expected more in some scenes. Oh, well! Such is the nature of the beast.
To me the storyline was very good except again if we intend to continue this journey, then we need more substance. Some of it was a bit too abrupt and choppy for my taste, but somewhat different, which I liked.
The voiceovers were very good as usual. The voices fit the characters just fine, It thought.
The map is exceptional. Way to go, devs! You did an awesome job on this game but you can do better thus the 4.25 stars. But I highly recommend it.
I've completed the SE version, which in my opinion, was rather short but the storyline involved children and I love the kiddies. I think the intro was wonderful and the children were beautiful, especially the little infant in the cradle! I have been playing a lot of SE versions of late because oftentimes I feel I'm spending too much money on whistles and bells that are not always needed. Sure you get the bonus games which may continue the storyline for bigger or better things or not. You take a chance, I think.
I think all devs need to concentrate on strategy, an accurate map, and game flow. Sometimes I don't care about the collectibles or morphing objects. I just want to get on with the game and the storyline should be intriguing. I felt this was a very good SE version. Elephant Games, bravo!
I love the Elephant Games developers. Though this game was short and somewhat boring, it was doable. The game-play was pretty much what I expected from other developers--silly and irrational! Why would I go way back to scene one or two to retrieve an item when I'm in scene six already? Or those games where you climb down a well into a dungeon only to have to go back up the well to the house to retrieve any given item to complete it. You get my gist? It's so typical of most developers I think. But I've learned to live with it. But sometimes I wonder if all devs really read our reviews.
The mini-games were pretty good and so were the puzzles. Not very challenging but tedious. Some puzzles required a lot of patience and others were way too easy. The HOPS were very good. I loved it all! Interactive, silhouettes, you name it!
I like a good transporter map but sometimes this map was lacking, so the hint button became a good navigator for me at times. I like to challenge myself and not refer to the map at all. But when you need to get rid of your items in the inventory and have to go back n' forth, it is direly needed.
Nonetheless, this is a very good, short game. I love the kiddies and I loved the ending. But as games go, it's all elementary my dears!
I always look forward to the Chimeras series, so devs keep up the good work!
A mysterious plague casts a dark shadow on the people of Persia. The young apothecary Tara must discover the cause of the illness before it's too late!
fromDevs we could have used the available resin around the orb rather than the belt. Even better-- you had a couple of genies who could have done the trick!
Minu is one of the genies in this great game, Persian Nights: Sands of Wonders SE version. I'm almost nearing the end but I wanted to write a review while my thoughts were still fresh in my mind. With all its sketchy rationale, I still love this game! Be prepared for a lot of dialogue though. The game-flow is wonderful! Right up my alley!
The graphics are eye-candy gorgeous! The colors are vibrant, beautiful purples, teal greens, pinks, reds, gold, blues, you name it. I'm thoroughly enjoying the visuals on my new laptop, too!
The demonic Zaved holds his subjects in an iron grip and is bringing the country to ruin, and suddenly a plague appears. Enter Tara, an apothecary, who must find the cause of the plague and prevent it from spreading. Tara, with the help of the ever so handsome, Darius and a couple of genies must save Persia. I think the storyline is very good and I feel as though the flow is that of a cool action-packed movie.
Many of the mini-games really aren't challenging but they're fun to do. However, some of the tasks were clever and others were quite humorous, maybe even questionable. But the storyline and dialogue and the voiceovers were exceptional. I felt as though I was watching a movie.
The background music, though repetitive, was quite beautiful. I wish the one tune had been longer. It is lovely and rather sensual--very Persian, and now planted in my brain! I would have loved to have been able to download it and save it as a ringtone for my android. Oh, well, it is only the SE version after all!
You can skip the dialogue if you wish, but I like listening to the voiceovers and they were spot-on great! Again, I love Tara but Darius, be still my heart, is a hunk!
The mini-games were really easy and most likely some reviewers will not find this game to be challenging, but as I said, I am enjoying this game for its fanfare.
One of the hidden object tasks is you will need to find 15 keys to obtain a master key. It's always the last two that are challenging to find.
I highly recommend this wonderful game. Well done, developers. Well done!
Stunning visuals in this SE version! This game sparked my interest!

fromHey, Devs! When I make repairs to any given appartus, please let the darn contraption not crash to smithereens with me in it! And after all of my hard work. Just once I want it to reach its destination in ONE piece!
Mad Head Games Devs are awesome, no doubt. This game is esthetically one of the most stunning of all time, in my opinion. The graphics are incredibly vibrant, colorful, and the objects that we must find are unique. A lot of attention to detail went into this scientific and engineering platform of this game. Incredible and tedious on the devs' parts for sure. So, bravo to the devs on those points.
The music and special effects/sound effects are amazing. The characters and voice overs are outstanding. Lots of expression and the voices pretty much fit the characters.
The strategy is a bit off from time to time. Also, I would click on an object to complete the task and would then have to repeat the action more than twice. I'm growing weary of collecting some of the mechanical parts to retrieve, intricate as they are, a wrench and more keys. Redundant! But most games are no different in that area. The puzzles/mini-games are easy; my favorite part though is the interactive HOPS.
The storyline is okay, daughter searches for daddy, blah, blah, blah. Cyrus is a power monger. Sparks will fly! So what's new about that? I'm nearing the end of this game and I'm not the least bit sorry that I bought it, though. It's just that retrieving those objects are getting more ho-hum to me as I venture on. Oh, in one of the scripts/text, a word was left out as follows: "My magic is almost depleted. I must to my daughter Gaia." A word is missing after 'must.' I realize not all folks read the script but I do and more attention to the editing is needed in all games, to be honest.
I'm rating this game 3-1/2 stars. The best parts are the graphics and voice-overs and HOPS. I do like the Nevertales series and always will. This game is no exception. So either try it or buy it; that's what I recommend.
