I own another Haunted Train and even though it is an older game, it was much more fun than this one. It was okay, but I sure wish I had used my free game rather than paying for it. The reasons will become clear.
In this age of computers, I can't believe the level of the graphics in this game. They were not good at all. Oh there were some decent scenes, but in total very amateurish. Music was okay. At least it didn't get on my nerves. Voice overs were okay, but a bit over played. If I had been in the mood to laugh I would have in a heart beat.
There are several different types of Hidden Object games which was the saving point of this exercise. There is the list, the silhouette, matching and others. The mini games were relatively simple. I did most of them, well some of them, but they really didn't make much sense to me. There is one toward the end where you have to have beams hit soldiers. Had no idea what I was doing, but did it. Seems like so many were like that.
There is an interactive map which gets you around the town and shows you where objectives are. I played on casual as I normally do, and the hint and skip were very quick to recharge.
The story is a continuation, kind of, of the previous Haunted Train, but Charon wasn't as evil this time around. So far as a real story, there was a beginning and an end. Most of it made sense, but there are gaps, but not too gaping.
If you have a free game coming, go ahead and try the demo and make your own decision. As for me, I sure wish I had used that coupon.
I recommend this game!

This is posted after playing the entire game twice.
I played this game two times. Yesterday when I played it, I had several interruptions and thought that might have clouded my judgement, but even after playing it twice, I came to the same conclusion. This is just an okay game. I have several of this series and this one was the least fun of them all. I am not a master of Hidden Object/Adventure, but I play my fair share. This would be a very good game for a beginner.
The graphics are well done and the sound is pretty good. The voice overs were nicely presented and the music, went along with the the action at the time. Instead of blending into a shot or action, it seemed to just happen. This is not uncommon for ERS, but this one seemed to be more so than others. Dialog was decent, but perhaps was bit over played.
I suggested the beginner, because the hidden object scenes are extremely simple and as much as I dislike mini games, I played most of them. There is a map which will take you wherever you need to go and it shows where there are things to be done, although perhaps not at that time. Yes, it kind of confused me until I realized what was going on with the map. The hint and skip were fast, because of the custom settings. Just as fast as I can get them.
Story is good. There were a few continuity problems, which was one of the reasons I played it again, but all in all, there is a decent plot and the characters were believable. It is a fantasy, so those things are easily overlooked on my part.
The demo is rather short as most everyone mentioned and the game isn't all that long. I believe this second time took about three hours.
Once again, not one of their better works, but it is worth a try.
I recommend this game!

Elephant has done it again. A fun, and interesting game. I really enjoyed it.
The graphics, as always, are top notch and the sound is excellent, especially the voice overs. Music goes along with the action at the time and isn't annoying.
Now the negative for me. If you love mini games, you're going to love this one. It seemed as though they were one right after another with a hidden object scene tossed in to make me happy. There are a lot of mini games and if you're like me and don't particularly care for them, you can always hit that wonderfully fast charging skip button. The minis, while plentiful, aren't really all that difficult. I played most of them. Hidden objects are varied which kept my interest throughout.
You have an interactive map which takes you where you want to go and shows where there are things to do. There isn't a lot of running around back and forth, which I like, but what there is the map will assist you. Hint and skip are fast filling and there are numerous levels in which to play.
Interesting story, that I won't go into. Big Fish does a great job giving you an idea of it. I was caught from the beginning, but I did get lost a bit. The reason is probable I had to do this in two days and lost the connection. I'm sure it will be clear next time I play. Other than that, the writers who develop these stories are darn good.
I really did enjoy playing this and I think you probably will too. With the touch of syfi and reality mixed, the games, the graphics and sound make it well worth the time to at least try out. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I cannot believe this came from the Eipix folks. I played the demo, which I found lacking, but going on their name, I purchased it, just knowing it was going to get better. It didn't. I found this to be quite... abnormal for them and lacking in the fun department. It was okay, but to say I enjoyed playing the game would not be right. Maybe I'm just not a fantasy kind of person would be a reason.
As usual the graphics and sound were well done. Still don't understand the need for the voice over panels, but that's their style and I've grown to overlook it. The colors in this magical world were beautiful and the music, was okay.
There are numerous kinds of hidden object scenes. Really too many to mention here and several were ones I have not seen before. There are lists, matching, you name it they put them in there. I do believe I used my hint more on this game than any I've played. Mini games are not my strong side and there are a lot of them. Some pretty involved. I tried to play, but got exasperated at trying and hit that wonderfully fast filling skip button. To me, all the games were challenging. You have an interactive map which shows where you have things to do and will transport you to that location. The hint charges quickly on the normal setting, but there are several settings to chose from if that is too simple for you.
I won't go into a description of the story, because Big Fish gives you enough of that. All I can tell you is I was lost from about the beginning. There just didn't seem to be the continuity I've come to expect from these designers. One day, I will play this again and it will probably be as clear as can be, but right now all I can say is it just didn't hold together.
Now, with all these negative things I've said, you would expect me to say don't buy it, but there are those who enjoy fantasy and this might be right up their alley. Give it a try, you might like it.
I recommend this game!

I enjoyed this game, but I think my granddaughter would like it even more. Besides, this isn't the first time I've used Big Fish to get her to come visit. It is interesting and easy to follow which makes it fun for me. I'm past the stage of using my mind to extremes.
The graphics are well done and the sound, including voice overs are very good. Colors are nice and pleasant and the music is just about right for me.
The challenge is fairly simple. I did all the mini games and for me to do that is amazing, so hence they must be relatively easy. I found a couple different kinds of hidden object scenes and some that were interlaced with the story, like putting together butterflies to find the correct path. There was a list and an interactive one in the demo.
The demo only lasted about 50 minutes, but in that time, I got involved with the story. Big Fish does a great job setting the scene for the story, so there is no reason to waste your time rehashing it here. It is interesting and I'm hoping my granddaughter comes soon so I can see how it ends.
I don't usually post on demos, but this one is a special kind of game. I would say it will work better on kids than on adults, but it is good nonetheless. Give it a try.
I recommend this game!

Darn good game from these great designers. I really enjoyed playing.
The graphics are excellent. Very clear and the colors fantastic. Voice overs were also great as was the music. It went right along with what was happening at the time.
I found the hidden objects pretty challenging. There are different types, from the list to silhouette, to interactive. Enough variety that I didn't get bored. If you don't want to do the hidden objects you can play a jigsaw puzzle. I didn't play it so you're on your own with that. The mini games.. were mini games. Some I did some I just skipped. Don't care for them anyway, but they will challenge you if you like to play them. There is no journal, but a task file you can check. Loved how quickly the hint and skip buttons filled. There's an interactive map that will take you where you want to go and show you where things are to be done. Even with that, I had to think quite a bit about the actions once I got there.
The story had me from the beginning. It's a very good tale and the only disappointment I had was the ending. I just felt it could have been better. So much went on in the game, that just to close it, was a let down.
I enjoyed this. Be sure to give the demo a try. I'm sure it will go on your buy list.
I recommend this game!

I had a good time with this game. Elephant did it again. I played it the other day, and do to some distractions wasn't able to really get a handle on the game so I played it again today and found it a lot of fun.
The graphics are very good. Several types of drawings and actions made it so. The sound was excellent. Even the music was great. It went right along with the story, kind of like in the movies. Voice overs were well done and the interactive interrogation made it interesting.
There are several different types of hidden object games. From a list to matching pairs, to a "gift of sight" you earn from a stranger as you arrive. This sight thing threw me the first time around, but the second time I actually caught on. I'm a bit slow I guess. The hidden objects were rather simple which was probably to make up for the mini games which are aplenty. I played several of them, but honestly there were some that I just didn't understand what to do and others that I just didn't have the patience to complete. Thankfully the skip button charges quickly as does the hint. You have an interactive map, about which I have mixed emotions. It was a help in getting around, but I was forced to used the hint more than usual to figure out where to go and what to do. There is a lot of back and forth so the map comes in handy getting around. It is a challenging game, especially the mini games.
The story is good and complete. It had me guessing until the end as to who was guilty of the deed. A lot of thought went into this one.
All in all this was a great game and I think, if you like challenging mini games this is for you.
I recommend this game!

This was a fun game. I enjoyed the characters and the all the foolishness that goes with this series. I think my granddaughter is going to love it even more than I.
The graphics are really good and the sound excellent. Voice overs are a bit over played, but still good. Music is the same as before, but I turn it lower so it doesn't bother me or cover the up the effects and voice overs.
There are various types of hidden object games not just a list. That keeps it interesting for me. There are even some simple mini games in the hidden object scenes. These were rather simple and didn't take a lot of effort. The mini games... Oh how I hate mini games... :-) but they are there and the ones I could figure out what to do I did, the rest, well that's what the skip button is for. You have an interactive map, and I have to admit it took me a little while figure out what the symbols meant, but once I did, it was a piece of cake. There is a lot of back and forth so it comes in handy. The hint and skip buttons are relatively quick in charging. There is a puppet that will assist you. She's cute and just adds a little humor and different dimension to the game. This game would be good for beginners, even though there are some rather challenging things to do.
The story is about like all in this series. The puppets take over and you are the hero and save the day. It was a decent story, I just think they could have had a better ending, it was just too abrupt. Other than that, it was an okay story and easy to follow.
There has been a lot said about the game being too short. I've been playing off and on all afternoon between chores, and I didn't find it all that short. I didn't get bored and finish it the next day like usual. I do believe it was a good length for me.
Give the demo a try and see what you think. I do believe you will enjoy it also.
I recommend this game!

I was so excited when this came out in SE, but what a let down it was. This is the last of the series and maybe, if this one is any indication, it is a good thing. I really didn't enjoy it very much at all. This one takes you on a fantasy, and not an interesting one at all. Perhaps it gets better on into the game, but not from what I played. If you are a fan, as I am, of the 1000 Doors series, you will probably be disappointed.
The graphics were good and the voice overs were pretty good. Music, it was okay, but not up for any awards. This game is just, for the lack of a better word, weird. The graphics, while pretty, just didn't make any sense.
The challenge was there. I normally have difficulty with the mini games, but I blew right through them, but was at a loss with much of the hidden objects. There are a couple different kinds of hidden object scenes which did give some variety, but they were just hard. This is my kind of challenge. You have a journal, an interactive map, which was kind of helpful, a cat and your magic stuff, like the hand. That's all I got while playing, was the hand which kills the menace. That got rather boring in itself.
Story.... still trying to figure that out. There was an asteroid which passed on this killer "thing" that you have to rid the earth. The story doesn't really take place in the house as before and takes you to a place left to the imagination.
Unfortunately this is not a buy for me. I just didn't care for it. Of course, you play the demo yourself. You may love it. It's just as shame that a great series like these games were, has to end like this.
I don't recommend this game.

This was a really good game and helped me spend a day inside watch our liquid FL sunshine pour from the sky. Sure made this day more enjoyable.
As always the graphics and sound were excellent. It was very pretty and the sounds, especially the voice overs were great. Music was tolerable and not irritating.
I found this to be one of the more challenging of the Eipix games I've played. It may be my computer, been have some difficulties with Bessie, but I did have a little trouble seeing some of the things we were to get from the hidden object scenes. Some seemed very small and others just hard to make out. There are several types of hidden objects, the list, silhouette and mini games within the hidden objects. All great fun with the difference things to do. Mini games weren't as difficult as usual. I actually did the majority of them and that is saying something for me. You have quick charging hint and skip buttons. The hint that will take you to where you need to go if necessary. There is an interactive map showing where you have actions to do and will take you there in a flash. There is an evidence case with suspect files. I really didn't use it at all. If you wish there is another game to play if you don't want to do the hidden objects. There is something in this game for everybody.
Big Fish lets you in on the story so I won't go into it. It is a good story, well written and executed. The characters are believable and it has some twists and turns that will keep you guessing.
This is great game from Eipix. I hope they keep it up. Try out the demo and see for yourself. I think it will be a buy for you.
I recommend this game!
