This is a winner in my book. Elephant has done it again. The only regret I have is I ran out of time and couldn't finish it yesterday. Terrific game with a lot of fun thrown in to boot.
The graphics are awesome! So realist, clear, and pleasing to the eye. The music was not annoying at all, and the voice overs were extremely well done. The sound was excellent. Hidden object scenes were well done as well.
Speaking of the hidden objects, they were not a push over. Although well drawn, they were also well hidden. The hint button and I became pretty good buddies. The mini games were decent. I did most of them so you know they weren't the kind that took a lot of time and yet were challenging enough for me. You have an interactive map which will take you wherever you want to go and shows places where things need done. The hint button recharges quickly and will also teleport you where something requires your attention. There is also the diary which will come in handy from time to time.
The story is well written and easy to follow. I makes perfect sense as you trek through the game. Characters are developed well and I got involved in the plot.
You really owe it to yourself to at least try the demo. It will give you a decent taste of what the game is about. I believe I have all the games in this series and this is the best to me. I can't wait to play it again.
I recommend this game!

This is one for the books. While not the greatest game I've ever played, I really enjoyed it. Guess I'm just a kid at heart.
The graphics were well done. backgrounds are great and while the characters are more of cartoon in nature they are good also. The hidden objects are well drawn as is the whole game. The music is pleasant and the effects are okay. Voice overs are well done, especially the slide shows.
I gave the level of challenge a 3 simply because I could do the mini games. This isn't to say the game is easy. It does have its moments, but anytime I stay with a mini game, it is rather simple. The hidden objects are easily found, but again there are various types of games that weren't so easy. This game would be more toward those who, like me, like to sit back and not necessarily grind the grey matter to a pulp figuring things out. It is entertaining and that is what I like.
You have an interactive map which you will need to get around and figure out what to do next. I did have some difficulty trying to get around the kingdom and if not for that map I would have been lost. You also have the assistance of a lynx that you get to name, who can assist you in tight places. He/she is cute and I do enjoy these additions. Also there are different potions and as much as I hate to admit it, I didn't realize until I was almost done with the game, that you are told by the bubble what to use. I am such and idiot! Also you get to set the time for the hint and skip buttons to charge. I really like this.
The story, while pretty much the same as most fairy tales, is well told. Big Fish does a good job of explaining this. There is an excellent ending with joy abounding, of course, and it leaves open the possibility of a sequel.
My granddaughter is coming to visit this weekend and no doubt we will play this again. If you aren't all wrapped up in the challenge of a difficult game, and just want a way to spend a few hours, then you're going to like this game. I did.
I recommend this game!

I have to say this is the worse game I have played in a long time. It was not fun at all. Somewhere along the line I missed the whole point of it. I am going to play it again to see what in the world I missed that my fellow reviewers caught. I sure missed something.
The graphics were good, but the sound was so-so. This is just not the quality I have come to expect from Big Fish. music was okay, but nothing to write home about. The voice overs were run together in some cases. They were clear and understandable, but along with the whole game, didn't make sense.
The hidden objects were good. They were pretty clear with just enough challenge to keep me interested. However, the mini games... those were way past my abilities. I couldn't figure out how to even do the majority of them. Thankfully the skip button charged quickly.
You have an interactive map that I had to use to figure out where in the world to go. I had no idea. It did a great job getting me through the game. The hint recharges quickly also. I had to use it a couple of times to figure out what to do.
I have yet to figure out the story line. I know things got messed up between the king and his sister, but how everything and everybody else figured into this I have no idea.
If it were not for the map, hint and skip buttons, I would not have finished the game. I was really bored and suffering, if that is possible playing a game.
I don't recommend this game.

I just finished playing NYM and wanted to post this before I forgot all I wanted to tell you. This game had such possibilities, but fell short in so many ways. To say it was fun.. it was okay. I got my anticipation up when I saw the CE version come out and couldn't wait until the SE made its appearance. This game was okay, but to say it lived up to my expectations, it did not. It just missed out on something and to be honest with you, I can't tell you what it was. I just wanted to finish it.
The sound was excellent as were the graphics. The characters were drawn, but very well so. The music was bland, but the voice overs were fantastic. I did have a little trouble seeing the hidden objects, but eventually got them. No complaints whatsoever with the sound or graphics.
Where I did have a bit of a problem was in the level of challenge. I didn't count them, but there seemed to be an over abundance of mini games. I know there are those who love them. I do not an these were extremely difficult at times, well most times, some hard to understand and do, and most we have seen before. I never could get some of them to work. I'm not the brightest bulb in the box, I know, so don't put too much credence in my opinion of the mini games.
The hidden objects were all silhouette where they give you a shape and you have to find it to unlock another part of the scene to continue. I've played these before, but I have to tell you these were the most challenging I have met.
You have an interactive map which makes it a snap figuring out where to go next or where there were things to do. You can set up how long or fast you want the skip (that was a blessing) and the hint button to recharge.
The story was decent. It baffled me how in the world the writers were going to blend the Mafia and a the supernatural, but they did it. The ending was as expected and a job well done to the detective/journalist for solving the problems and saving the day.
All in all this was a good game. I would have done some things differently, but that's what makes these games so darn good. A little bit of something for everybody.
I recommend this game!

This was the most enjoyable game I have played in a long . long while. It had me from the opening scene of the Demo. It was fun from the beginning to the very end and well done . The developers did a great job. I seldom ever check the credits at the end, but this time I did. Living just a short ways from the Big Easy, it seemed so realistic, I just knew there was somebody with a Cajun name on the staff to have captured the flavor of New Orleans. I don't remember the last time I gave 5 stars to a game, but this one deserved it.
The graphics were fantastic! I do believe they were the best I have ever seen in a game. So realistic. The music was awesome and the voice overs were superb.
Although not the most difficult game I've played, it was the most enjoyable. You have several different varieties of hidden object games including some I have never seen before which kept my interest all the way through. The min games were not so challenging that I gave up as usual. They actually had some I enjoyed playing. Tough enough to challenge you and yet attainable without spending too much time trying to figure them out. You have a journal and an interactive map to help you get around the city. The hint button refills fast enough for me and the instructions for the mini games were understandable.
The story was well thought out and kept my attention wondering what was going to happen next. The ending was just as good as the beginning and left me satisfied for a change.
I know somebody isn't going to like this game, but the folks at Bad Head did a wonderful job. I'm looking forward to another from them. In case you couldn't tell, I really enjoyed this game and I think you will too.
There is just so much to tell about this game, but the best way is for you to try it. I don't think you will be disappointed.
I recommend this game!

This was a fun game. It caught me from the very beginning and kept me interested all the way through.
While I was taken aback by the graphics, especially from Elephant, they were decent, but more in a cartoon drawing rather than the live people in the game. Having said that, they were fitting with the theme of the game, it was appropriate. The sound was excellent. Music as good and went along with the action and the voice overs were well done. The effects were excellent as well.
The hidden objects were clean and fairly easy. They had some where you had to go to the inventory or elsewhere in the game to find the piece you were looking for, but it added a bit more to the game. I even did some of the mini games. I normally don't care for them and next time I will work harder to play them, but the ones I did were unique and just hard enough to keep me interested.
There is an interactive map which will get you where you need to go, but there may no be anything to do once you get there. The hint recharges quickly and will show you where there is something to be done. You have to figure that out, but that was the fun of it.
The story was well told. I won't go into the story, because BF does a great job describing it, but it did keep me guessing and wondering what was going to happen next. I have to admit they fooled me in the way it turned out.
I think you will like this. It isn't the same as the other Surface games I have, but it is very good. I do believe you will enjoy it.
I recommend this game!

This is posted after playing the entire game plus bonus.
This game had such possibilities, but those possibilities got lost along the way. I am just glad it is over. What started out as an interesting game quickly became uninteresting. It was an okay game, but definitely not a four star.
The graphics were not very good. Amateurish would describe them quite well. The hidden objects were difficult at times to see even with the help of the hint. I was just clicking away and I would hit something that would disappear. I would have to look at the list to determine what I had gotten. The music wasn't bad and the effects were acceptable, but the voice over, what there was became distorted. As much as I do not like the dialog boxes, they were necessary in most instances.
While the hidden objects were sometimes extremely difficult to see, they did have a novelty I hadn't seen before. Morphing objects to find. That was interesting to figure out. The one thing I found odd was normally you will seek objects and one of those objects will end up in your inventory to be used later. More than not, sometime entirely different would pop up as your keeper. Strange. The mini games were the usual. I hate to admit it, but I had difficulty figuring out what to do. I would just wait out the skip button and move on. Along with the hint button is an interactive map which does come in very handy in getting around and knowing what to do next. The hint and skip buttons do recharge rather quickly. That was a big plus for me. There are collectibles for those of you who pay extra for CE games and there is a bonus chapter. It would appear you get a CE for and SE cost, but don't be fooled.
I still cannot, after spending all this time playing, tell you about the story. It lost me fairly quickly and I couldn't get back into the story. The bonus chapter started off nowhere and ended up back there by the end.
I kept playing thinking I would get into this, but I didn't. One day I will play it again and perhaps I will find more enjoyment. As always you owe it to yourself to try the game. Although this game fell well short of what I expect from Big Fish, I can recommend it, especially if you have a credit to use up, but don't get too excited.
I recommend this game!

I just finished this game and I have to say it was not the most enjoyable time I have spend playing. Fun, no. Just doesn't have it. I spent more time trying to figure out what to do in the hidden object scenes than I ever have. More on challenge later.
The graphics were fine. They were of a cartoon nature rather than realistic. The voice overs, what there were of them were also fine and music went along with the story.
I don't mind a challenge, but this bordered on impossible. Not only do you have to find objects, but you have to figure out what they to with. I've had these before and found then generally good entertainment, but this was beyond that. It was so bad it got boring. These were more like the dreaded mini games than hidden objects. Compared to the hidden objects, the mini games were a piece of cake.
There is a map, that goodness, or I would still be wondering around in some dimension somewhere. I did not find the hint button to be very helpful at all. It just points to something, but no hint as to what is to be done. This is a very challenging game for sure.
The story lost me in the demo. I still don't know why I bought this, except that I thought it would get better with time. It didn't, but maybe the next time I play through my games I will have forgotten this experience and enjoy it.
Play the demo, and that is just about what you are going to see, well maybe worse, as the game progresses.
I recommend this game!

This is posted after playing the entire game twice.
Yes, that's right, twice. The first time I played the game I had so many interruptions, I couldn't get into it and really didn't like the game, but I felt I owed it a decent shot so I played again. I am so glad I did, because I really did enjoy it. Final Cut is a good game, and was fun to play. The interaction between the characters I think make it fun for me.
The graphics were good with a minor exception. There are hidden object scenes within the hidden object scenes, and those were extremely difficult for me to see. It was't a deal breaker, but I did have to use my hint button to finish quite a few of them. The sound was really good and the cut scenes were very good. The music went along with the action so it wasn't boring at all.
I mentioned the smaller hidden object games, but the normal ones were fine. Relatively easy as matter of fact. The mini games were good, because I could do them for a change. So that must mean they were easy. There is a match 3 game for the hidden objects, but I forgot to play it, so you will have to check it out yourself. There is an interactive map which gets you around and shows what needs to be done, and if you really get lost, the hint, which refills quickly, shows you were to go.
The story was good as have all in this series. I won't go into the story, because Big Fish does a great job explaining what it is about. The continuity was great! It has twists and turns I didn't expect and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I don't say that about too many games, but this one had me hooked, if not from the beginning pretty close to it. With the back and forth between reality and what the projector gives, you will find plenty to keep you wondering.
I really liked this one. I think you will too. At least try the demo, but like most it doesn't go far enough to let you get the feel of the game. Try it, I think you'll like it too.
I recommend this game!

This is another that is difficult for me to review. It might have been my expectations being set way to high, but this just wasn't as much fun as I expected. I waited what seemed like an eternity for the SE to come forth from the vaults of Big Fish and when it finally arrived I was excited, because I really enjoyed the other games in this series. This one I'm afraid fell short. It wasn't near as much fun as the others.
The graphics were extremely good. Easy to see hidden object scenes and the voice overs were fantastic. The music was about the same as the others in the series, but I expected that.
Hidden object games were fun. They were relatively easy and if you wanted you could switch to a different kind of match 3. I hate to admit it, but it did take me a while before I caught on. I guess that's why they put instructions in there. I am such a dope. Mini games were somewhat different. There were the standard ones, but a few threw me. I could not figure out, even after reading the instructions, what I was suppose to do. There was something in the options I had not seen before. You can not only set the level at which you wish to play, but you can set times for the hint refill and the skip button. I thought that was an excellent idea. I hate nothing more than to be stuck and sit there for a couple of minutes waiting. This was an excellent concept. You have an interactive map and a journal of sorts which is kind of helpful, but even with that, I found myself lost and could not figure out what or where to go next. Maybe I'm just losing it, but that was a big part of my disappointment in the game. The hint button came in mighty handy in this respect.
The story got me a bit confused along the way. Some of the things you had to do or go, just didn't make sense. The line was fairly easy to follow, but it is confusing at times. It did NOT leave you stranded and there is an ending.
After sounding so negative about this game, I want to tell you it is a good game. I bought it and I'm glad I did. I can't wait to play it again. Give it a shot. I'm sure you will enjoy the Fall.
I recommend this game!
