I have to say, I really enjoyed this game! It is one of the best games I've played since Adam Wolfe. No disappointments here. From the sound to graphics, games, and story it is top notch. Much better than the previous games in the series and they were darn good too.
The graphics were really good. Colors were clear and not dark nor "cartoonish." Sound, including the music were extremely well done especially the voice overs. I love it when you get to pick if you are male or female. Effects went along with the action in the scene.
The hidden objects were well done and really varied. I like that in a game. I think this is the most varied I've seen in a game. I enjoyed the mini games which were different, some new to me, and yet I could complete the most of them. A few I skipped because of my lack of patience, but all in all they were actually fun to do. There is an interactive map which is helpful, but a lot of the time there wasn't a lot of back and forth. You picked up an object and would use it in the same scene. That's almost unheard of these days. There is the scarecrow helper. You get to chose if you want to use him or do it on your own. That's a new concept that I like. I happen to be a fan of the little guy and used him.
I really enjoyed the story. It's a straightforward story and not a witch, ghost, or the customary things we usually have been getting. There is some supernatural, but with this game I can overlook it. Others will go into the story in depth, so I won't bore you with detail. I'll just leave it that the story itself made the game for me.
Give the demo a try. I think you'll enjoy this as much as I did.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game! Even though it had ghosts and other things that go bump in the night, it was fun beyond my wildest expectations.
Graphics were really good. Everything was clear and even though it was dark, it went along with the theme of the game. Effects were very good and the voice overs were excellently performed. Just what I have come to expect from Elephant Games. The music was good and not intrusive at all.
The thing I liked about it was the level of challenge. I loved being able to complete the majority of the mini games, which means I have either developed more patience or they were rather simple. I would bet on the latter. If you are one of those gamers who love challenging puzzles, I don't think you will care for this one. I think the only complaint with the minis would be the repetition. When I do a puzzle, I don't like to turn around and repeat it again at the same time. There were several of those. Along with that, there really wasn't much new with the puzzles. Put the dot in the colored hole, etc, etc, etc. You have several modes of difficulty and I chose the custom so I could have the hint and skip charge quicker. The interactive map was a big help, because it does get a bit confusing as to what needed done and where you need to go.
I liked the story. One reason was it is a male lead. No need to go dress in my finest gown and heels to get into the part. We need more of these or at least be able to chose the gender of the player. When the story began I thought they had written my buddy James out of the storyline, but he was there in a minor role. I don't know why I like him so much, maybe it's the voice or just the character itself, but this series wouldn't be the same without him. Others well go into depth about the story itself, so I'll just leave it that there is continuity and it is very easy to follow. It had me hooked from the very beginning to the end.
As always try the demo. If you want a game that is relaxing, yet exciting to play this is yours. Thank you Elephant Games for another winner in the series.
For the first of a brand new series, this wasn't a bad little game. I did enjoy it, although it was lacking some on the technical end of things. I'm sure they will smooth out as the series develops.
Graphics were well done. I liked the colors and the action was well done s well. In the beginning and the end, the people are sitting around a campfire, hence the title, and as I watched the guy telling the story I kept wanting to shove my fingers through the screen to push his glasses up on his face. In other words, I got into the game. Voice overs were okay and pretty well done. Some much better than others, but all in all a pretty decent job. Music wasn't intrusive and the effects were really good.
I didn't see much new in the hidden object scenes and especially the mini games. They were pretty much what we see all the time, some with just a little different twist. Some of the hidden objects were rather difficult, more so than the mini games.
I liked the story. It had me from the beginning. Others have gone into depth about the story so I'll save you from going through that again. It is interesting and has some great potential as the series continues.
All in all, a great little game. Play the demo and see if this one doesn't tickle your game bone.
This game is not the best made, but it isn't the worse either. I played this game in a beta test which seems like ages ago, and just had to see if they got it fixed. Some they did ... some they didn't. All in all, if you are looking for a nice way to spend an afternoon this game offers a relaxing way to do it.
i liked the graphics in this game. They weren't the usual type we see. They might be computer animated, but they appear to have the touch of a human hand. They are well drawn and the colors added so much to the scenes. Music wasn't at all intrusive and added quite a bit. Effects, of course, also made the scenes live and were actually pretty. I really liked the voice overs. Very well done. I was a bit surprised at the quality of the game coming from one of my favorite developers, but as I looked at the credits I didn't recognize any of the names. Yes, I am one that looks at credits. I have found my favorite games had the same producer. There are some out of place words in the text and just a couple little things, but nothing to be a deal breaker.
The challenge was right up my alley. I did the majority of the mini games and that is very unusual for me. That means they weren't complicated and I actually understood what I was suppose to do. In other words, they were easy. If you are a die hard mini game fanatic, you probably won't care for this game at all. Hidden objects were well done and varied. Again, not all that difficult, but challenging enough. Nothing new I could see in the mini games or the hidden objects. Just a few variations on the same things.
Others will go in depth about the story, so I won't bore you with the details. However, I did get lost in the story. I have no idea where Scott came into the picture. I'm sure he was mentioned early on in the game, but darned if I could remember it. Other than that, it's a decent story without ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night. That was such a relief and one of the reasons I made the purchase.
Give the demo a try.. If you are looking for an easy going game, with mini games you can do, I think you'll like this one.
This was a decent game. I was a big leery about it from the demo, but decided I would go ahead and purchase it I'm glad I did. It was fun and kept me entertained during a rainy Florida day.
Graphics were well done. They appeared to be more like drawings than computer animation. Voice overs were well done, and the effects went along with the action in the scene. I really liked the colors. They weren't dreary by any means and added so much to the scenes. The music wasn't intrusive and like the effects went along with the action. I really liked it.
The challenge of the game, including my dreaded mini games, were right up my alley. Hidden object scenes were mostly lists, but there were others tossed in to make it interesting. The only problems I encountered were some of the objects were so small I just couldn't see them even after using a hint. In regard to the mini games, they were rather simple. I did most of them which is really unusual for me. The difficulty I experienced was the instructions were difficult to understand on some. I just couldn't figure out how to do them. There is really nothing we haven't seen before in the mini games or hidden objects, but they were fun to do and that's what counts. The interactive map was really helpful. It showed where things needed to be done and would transport. With several degrees of difficulty to choose from, I used the custom to have a quick hint and skip button. I do like that feature.
The story is pretty much like the rest. Others will go into depth about the story, so I won't bore you with the details. People are kidnapped, man trying for eternal life.. etc.. etc... etc. The only big difference in this story and so many others was the continuity. The story held together all the way through and wasn't just thrown together like so many. I enjoyed it.
I keep saying I'm going to take notes as I play to give a more informed review, but I get going in these games and just lose track of what else I'm doing. Maybe next time.
That's about it. Play demo and see if this doesn't tickle your fancy. It did mine.
I just don't know what to say about this game. It was just okay, not bad, but really not very good. I was so wanting it to be good enough to purchase, but it lacked, at least in the demo, a reason to do so. it just wasn't that much fun.
The graphics were good, especially the opening scene. The baby looked almost real. I think I probably lost interest when the hooded monster appeared at the window and I thought not again. Colors were very well done. Not overly dark and were rather pleasant. Sound was very good, especially the voice overs. Effects and music went along with the action in the scene.
So far as the challenge of the game, the hidden object scenes were well done and varied in content. I especially liked the carousel. Well done there. However, the mini games were way beyond my understanding and patience level. I had no concept of how to do most of them. It's either my stupidity or the instructions were not well thought out. I still think they should have a do-over button after you see how it is to be done. There is an interactive map which was very helpful in getting around and showing where there were things to do. With several degrees of difficulty to choose from, I used the custom, so I could set the hint and skip at zero. I appreciated that when it came to the mini games.
I think the story had promise. However, the demo didn't show any of that promise. It was pretty much the same kind of stuff we have been getting lately. From reading other reviews, I understand there is a twist to the plot, but from what I saw that twist must be at the very end.
This is not a buy for me, but play the demo at least. It may suit your fancy more than mine. If you like the challenge of hard mini games and if you aren't tired of things that go bump in the night, you'll love this game.
I own all of this series and this one will fit right along side of the others. I really enjoyed playing and can't wait to play it again. I found about everything in this game enjoyable and fun.
Graphics were very well done. I especially liked the colors used. Nothing dark and dreary. The sound including voice overs were excellent. The effects and music went along with the action in the scene.
My only deduction is for the mini games. I didn't like them at all. Some I couldn't figure out what to do and others were way beyond my patience level. I wish they would add secondary game to play instead of those minis. Perhaps if they would put a do-over feature I might like them better. As they are, I hate them! Hidden objects were really good. A lot of searching as they were well hidden. They were varied and interesting to complete.
Others will go into the story in depth so I won't bore you with that. While not believable it was well put together and had the continuity that makes for a great story. There were no ghosts, witches or other things that go bump in the night which was such a change from most all the offerings lately. I'm one who really enjoys the fact cards. I love history and learning about things of the past and the cards, not only enhance the story, but teaches a bit along the way.
All in all, mini games included, this is a really good game. Give the demo a shot and see if you don't think it's good too.
I own all of the Danse games, and I have to say this one fell quite a bit short of the quality of the previous ones. The one saving grace, there were no ghosts or things that go bump in the night. It kept me occupied all afternoon, but wasn't all that enjoyable.
Graphics were well done. Not as good as I would have expected from this developer, but passable. Sound was excellent including the voice overs. There was a bit of lapse in the voice overs, but not enough to make it a problem. I did like the colors. They weren't dark and dreary and actually could have passed as a painting. Music was good and the effects went well with the story.
My main problem was the mini games, which were well beyond both my ability and patience. Try as I might I simply could not understand what do to and the ones I thought I understood, I couldn't accomplish. Thank goodness for the custom settings so I could have the skip as fast as possible. One thing Eipix does that creates a problem for me are those little pop-up windows with hidden objects. I simply cannot see what I'm looking for. They come along during hidden object scenes and by themselves. The hidden objects were well done. The goodies were well hidden and I used my hint more in this game than most. If not for the mini games, I would have rated this a much higher level. As is common these days, you have several modes of play, and as I said I used the custom to set my hint and skip times as fast as possible. The map was a lifesaver. There is a lot of back and forth to previous scenes and it transports. The map also shows areas where you have something to do.
I kind of enjoyed the story. I did make sense, but there was just something lacking in imagination. It was well written, but a tad bit lack luster. I just hope this performance doesn't signal the end of the series. Others will go into the story line itself so I won't do that. It has continuity and that's good for me.
Play the demo and see what you think. It's an okay game and one you might just want to add to your collection.
I have all the MCF games and while they have been difficult, this one takes the cake. I didn't find it all that much fun. If you love mini games and mind teasers, this game is for you. It seems like about every time you turn around there is another mini game. Even in the hidden objects scenes there were mini games. Most of them I didn't understand what in the world to do and the others were way past my patience level. Had it not been for the multitude of mini games, this would have been a tremendous one.
Graphics were very well done and the sound, including voice overs were excellent. I enjoyed the music tremendously for some reason. Usually I keep it at background level, but I even turned it up a bit. Effects went along with the action in the scene and were very acceptable.
Other than the aforementioned mini games, the hidden objects were challenging and sometimes just plain tough. I really liked them. They were varied and caused me some problems along the way. There are several modes of play, of which I chose the custom so I could set the skip and hint to its quickest time. The map is a bit unusual in what we normally see. It took me a little while to adjust my mind to see where I needed to go. Once I did understand that map was a lifesaver. There are the super puzzles which I found to be mixed. Thankfully they have allowed you to skip just portions of the puzzle and continue on.
Others will go in depth about the story. It was good. I loved the ending most of all. You do need to pay attention as the game progresses or you will get lost. I kind of did, but figured out what was happening. Not a bad story and it has continuity. That's been lacking in some games here lately.
This is not a bad game at all IF YOU LOVE MINI GAMES. If you don't, be prepared, because you're going to have a ton of them. Just be sure to play in the custom mode.
This is posted after playing the demo, or most of it anyway.
I really did want to like this game, but unfortunately, I didn't. It was an okay game, but with that paranormal stuff thrown in, it was simply ruined for me. The game could have just as easily been a great whodunit, but instead the developers reverted back to the same old monsters, shapeshifters and the rest of the ilk that goes into these games. I'm tired of them.
Graphics were great and the sound was pretty darn good too. Voiceovers were well done and the music wasn't bad either. Effects went along with the action in the scene.
I liked the level of challenge. Hidden objects were more a part if the story although there were the regular types too. I found the mini games to be rather on the simple side which is fine by me.
There is an interactive map which will help along the way to get you where you need to go. There are the usual modes of play. I used the custom. There is something different in this game. You can play two ways. One with a bright side and one with the dark. I don't know what the bright side has to offer. I thought it would be more exciting to play the dark.
I just couldn't make it all the way through the demo, because of the story theme. Pretty predictable and not to my liking. I wish they would take this game and do away with the paranormal, turn it into a great murder mystery and then it would have been a buy for me.
If you aren't tired of ghosts, witches and other things that go bump in the night, this game is for you. As for me, I'll have to pass. As always, give the demo a shot. You may like this more than I.
