I have all the Hidden Expeditions games and although this one doesn't quite live up the others, it is a very good game. I enjoyed playing it. I've waited for what seemed like an eternity for this to come out in SE, because I don't play CE games, and was not disappointed.
Normally from Eipix, I give graphics and sound 5 stars. However, there was something about this one that was lacking. I can't put my finger on it, but it was different than the others. The graphics were fine and the sound. including voice overs and music, were very acceptable, but just something was amiss.
As always, the mini games were my downfall. I don't think they were so hard as my patience lacks in working them out. I did several of them, but most I skipped after a couple attempts. Hidden objects were varied from the list to silhouettes, my least favorite, and this kept my interest. In the lists, there were several items listed I had no idea what they were. Guess I needed to live back in that time to know.
The fact cards, a regular of this series, were interesting. I had no idea what some of them were talking about, but I did learn something reading them. The interactive map was a big help. It did show where there were things to do and transported me to that area. You also have several modes of play. I chose custom so I could set the hint and skip to the fastest time.
Others will go into what the story was about. All I'll say is it had continuity and made sense. No monsters, ghosts, or witches which was a plus for me. I am so tired of that genre, I could scream. The story had me from the beginning and kept me enticed all the way through.
All in all this is a good game and one I look forward to playing again. As always, play the demo and make your own decision, but as for me, this series hasn't yet lost all of it luster.
This is posted after FiNALLY completing the whole game.
I made a really bad mistake in purchasing this game. It was not fun in the slightest to me. From the story, to the puzzles, to the .. well, the whole game was horrid. How might you ask did I purchase such a horrid game. I decided to check it out. I do not recall playing the demo, but it said I had 29 minutes left. I looked at the reviews and there was nothing posted. That usually means I like a game and would purchase it later. I guess I disliked the demo so badly I just didn't post anything, because I cannot seem to find anything good to say about this game. Perhaps VR is not my thing.
Graphics were acceptable and the sound was excellent including voice overs and the music. Fx went along with the action in the game.
These were the worse mini games I have ever played. Way past my abilities and patience. I couldn't even understand the instructions. If any game needed a substitute for mini games this is one. If you are one who love to agonize over completing a puzzle then you are going to love this game. The hidden objects were okay. There were things listed or in the silhouettes I had no idea what they were. The saving grace was the map which did show places where something was to be done and would take you there. There is also the custom setting, which I am so thankful for, which allowed me to set the hint and skip buttons to the quickest time.
There are others who will tell you the story much better than I, because other than to tell you a monster took over VR and you have to release a little girl and escape virtual reality, there isn't much I can tell you. If this is what the VR world is like in real life, I'm certainly glad I didn't get one for Christmas. Perhaps my age has something to do with it. I have several of the Surface games and this one doesn't hold a candle to the others.
As always, play the demo. As I said if you like to puzzle yourself all day, then you are going to love this game. I know the developers put a lot of work into this game and I hate to shoot one down, but this is not my cup of tea. I will say it is different than the usual ghosts, goblins and witches we have been getting lately. Give the demo a try and perhaps you will find it more enjoyable than I did.
I don't recommend this game.

Myths of the World: Bound by the Stone
Can you stop the evil beasts before it’s too late?
I simply cannot believe this game comes from Eipix. It is so juvenile and poorly done, I could hardly wait for the demo to be completed.
Graphics were well done, if not a bit lame. I have always considered this developer one that sets the standards for graphics, but this was so lacking in movement and action. Colors were fine. They fit it the scene.
You have a stone you get from the master, which is fine. However, when you go to use it, you have to play this simply ridiculous game over and over to work its magic. That really got tiresome. Hidden objects were the saving grace for this game. If they hadn't been well done, I wouldn't have played the demo through. Mini games were mixed with some difficult some simple. Love that custom setting for a quick hint and skip recharge. It came in handy for the mini games.
So far as tools, I mentioned the stone which removes curses and such, but you also have an interactive map. I did have some trouble getting it to work. Don't know what I was doing wrong, but sometimes I would have to move the cursor around the area to get it to transport.
I don't know about the story. I am, like so many, tired of this genre of game. Supernatural has run its course and it is time to start with something else. The story was juvenile along with about everything else, but it did have a couple good connections. The end of the demo was fantastic and I almost weakened and made the purchase, but the other elements stopped me. Others will do a much better job of telling you the story, but all I will add is, it is the same stuff we've seen over and over and over.
Give the demo a try and perhaps you will come away with a much better feeling for this game than I did. I have several games from this series and if this one is a look into the future of Myths of the World, I do believe we can kiss it good-bye.
I so wanted this to be good, but alas, it did not meet my expectations. It just wasn't fun, at least through the demo.
The graphics were good and the effects, music and voice overs were well done. Colors were bright and easy on the eyes.
My main complaint, was the mini games. Such repetition. It seemed the majority of the mini games were do this, but it will affect that. My least favorite of all games. I do believe I played one mini to a successful conclusion. If you like, in my opinion, difficult, time consuming minis, you are going to love this game. One saving grace is you have a choice between easy and hard. Hidden objects were varied, but nothing we haven't seen before. Find the matching pairs, silhouettes, but I don't recall a list one. They were okay and well done. The map was very helpful, showing places where things could be done and allowed for fast transport. There are several degrees of playing the game. I chose custom for the quick charge of the hint and skip buttons.
The story.. it made little sense to me. Perhaps it was the genre of the game. Not my favorite, but it seemed to jump around with little or no rhyme nor reason. Others will go into the story much better than I, but for me, it was not well done.
Play the demo. Perhaps you will have a better experience than I. Realizing that the developers work hard in making these games, I hate to be negative, but this one really needed some more work.
This is posted after finally completing the whole game.
If you are looking for the continuation of the MCF series, you are going to be disappointed. This is not like the others, but that wasn't a problem for me. I liked the MCF series, but I'm always up for a change.. if it is a good change. This one fell so short it dishonors the MCF legacy. In other words, I did particularly care for this game.
Graphics were really good and the Fx went along with the action in the scene. The music was fine and not annoying. Voice overs, what there were of them, were well done, but the amount of them seemed lacking. Colors were very well done. Clear and pristine. If you can't tell, I'm trying to find something nice to say about this one.
Hidden objects were fine. They were very varied and took a while to complete. Some were darn right difficult, but solvable. The mini games... I don't think Big Fish will allow me to use the language to describe them. I either didn't understand them (most of the time) or they were so involved my patience level just wouldn't allow me to complete them. If you enjoy difficult puzzles, you are going to love this game. Why they would make something this challenging without an alternative method of solving I will never understand. The journal, which has disappeared in most games lately, is back and a necessity in completing the game. It did irritate me that I had to thumb back through page after page to find something I needed and when I did find the information it was crammed into illegible mishmash of other information. You constantly get notes and messages which end up in the journal and going through it to find what you want is tedious to say the least. Many of the notes you get are very difficulty to read. The writing is similar to mine which is almost impossible to understand. You do have the custom mode which allows you to set quick hint and skip times. That came in very handy. I think I used the hint more in this game than most I play. The interactive map is also a necessity. There is a lot of back and forth. The map showed locations where something needed to be done and would transport you. A few times there was nothing indicated and I had to use the hint to figure out where to go, but all in all it functioned fantastic.
Now the story. I won't go into the nuts and bolts. Others do a better job than I can. Besides, I honestly can't tell you much about it. I know these designers work hard to put out a good story, but this one had me lost from the beginning. Perhaps I just missed an important part at the beginning which is my bad, but there was no continuity and it just didn't grab me like most do. Not being a fan of the supernatural doesn't help either.
In all honesty I bought this by mistake. I played the demo and a couple other games, and simply clicked the wrong game when I went to purchase. I wish I had been more diligent. You be sure and play the demo and make up your own mind. Don't worry that it isn't like the other MCF games. Change is good sometimes. Just make sure you understand what is going on in the game.
This is another hit from this series. I was so glad it came out so quickly after the first. I found this game in all facets to be fantastic and I don't care for paranormal stories.
Graphics were great. So unusual from the normal. More like you are looking at a graphic novel rather than a movie. Sound, including voice overs were excellent. I loved the British accent from the demon and Adam's voice is so ... well realistic. Whomever does these deserves an Oscar. I think the only part of the sound I really didn't care for was the music. It seemed to be stuck in a loop that didn't change very much.
The level of challenge was pretty much to my liking. Used the custom setting so I could use the hint and skip quicker. Some of the mini games I just didn't understand and others I lacked the patience to complete, but that's just me. Hidden objects were varied and some took quite a while to complete.
As I said, I'm not a fan of the paranormal genre. However, this series brings a new dimension to this type of story. It's a detective novel brought to life. I know there is a lot of work that goes into making these stories live and the folks at Mad Head did a fantastic job of immersing me from the very beginning. Although Adam got his wish, I'm sure with the popularity of this game there will be more to follow. I won't go into the story itself. Big Fish and other reviewers do that much better than I can. I will just say that I was hooked from the beginning to end. I can't wait to see how he overcomes his current conundrum.
Give the demo a try and I think you will be hooked too. Great job folks!
This is posted after playing all the game that is available.
I simply loved this game even though it was supernatural in nature. It probably could have been accomplished without the demons, but they were well done.
Graphics were great. Clear, colorful and realistic. Sound, including FX, music and voice overs were wonderful, especially the voice overs. Not the usual canned voices. These sounded like a real person speaking. Really liked Adam's carefree voice. Sounds so much like a friend of mine from LA.
Really liked the amount of challenge. It was just perfect for me. I hate mini games, but was able to complete them all. That being said they are not difficult, which is why I loved them. The hidden objects, with a couple exceptions were mini games in themselves. They were varied enough that it kept my interest all the way through. If you are a die-hard gamer who likes difficult puzzles, you may not like this one.
This game is all about the story. There is more story than game, but it absorbed me from the very beginning and held my interest all the way through. I guess this may be a spoiler, but this is a multi act story and this game has two of probably four acts. That means there will be a sequel or two to come. I just hope it isn't too far down the line or I'll have to play this one to remember what is going on.
The map is a GPS navigator and there are other helpers which allow you to reconstruct scenes so you can tell what had happened. The watch turns back time and the eye lets you see things that aren't there at the moment.
As I said, this game is all about the story. It is well written and performed. Hats off to the voices, creators and designers. If a supernatural game can get five stars from me, it has to be something special. The continuity, action, and clarity of what is going on is unusual in this type of game, but Flames has it. I just can't say enough about it.
The demo is really short, and doesn't give you the full dimension of the game. It is really a fantastic experience and I look so forward to the next chapters of the story. Just have to know what is what with those demons. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed playing this game. Not only was it well produced, but it was done without any supernatural effects whatsoever! Way to go Eipix! It can be done.
Graphics were very well done and the sound, including the voice overs were excellent. I see they have gone back to the window for voice overs which I really don't understand, but other than that, it was perfect. Music went along with the action in the scene as did the Fx.
Only difficulty I had was with the mini games (nothing unusual there) but I also had some difficulty with the hidden object scenes. They were very well done. Items were hidden deeply in the scene and some were just impossible for me to see. The hidden objects were varied which kept my attention.
The map is a necessity for me. There is a lot of back and forth and here to there. It was almost impossible to remember where things went once I found them, but the map saved the day.
I loved the story and although I figured out the ending well in advance, it had me from the beginning all the way through. It was neat how they blended writers from my other favorite games into this one. That was really an unusual addition. I've got all the DR series and I do believe this one is my favorite.
Try the demo and I think you will be as hooked on this as I. If you are as tired of supernatural themes as I am, you will find this a breath of fresh air.

I had the opportunity to do the evaluation on this game some time ago. It is not your usual hidden object adventure game. Matter of fact, there was only one standard hidden object scene in the demo. The rest are either mini games or close enough to be called mini games even though you end up with a necessary object. The concept of the game is unique and offers a different type of entertainment. Not my cup of tea, but I think those who do enjoy mini games will surely love this game.
Graphics are very well done and the sound, including FX and voice overs are excellent. The music goes along with the action and isn't boring.
I do no care for mini games which is why I gave it only three stars for challenge. There is a lot of thinking necessary in this and I don't do these games to stimulate my grey cells. It will challenge you to the end. Not much in the way of helpers. Of course there is the map which you eventually get which does help quite a bit in getting you where there are things to do.
I couldn't quite figure out the story other than what has been posted and written by Big Fish. Guy marries girl. Girl disappears and he goes into a game of sorts to get her back. I would almost buy the game to find out what the whole thing is about. It's almost like he's dreaming, but not quite.
Although this is not a buy for me, I can recommend it for the uniqueness of the game itself. It is unusual and quite challenging. As always, give the demo a shot and if you are one who does like to stimulate those grey cells, you are going to love it

I did not like this game. Not only is it the same old theme of ghosts, but it was simply not fun. It started out okay and I thought for a few minutes I might just buy it, but as the demo progressed I realized it was not for me.
Graphics were okay. Nothing to write home about. The opening scene was about the best of the demo. They were crafted well, but not exceptional. The music seemed to be on a loop and was pretty much the same all the way through. I almost stopped and muted the music altogether, but thought better of it. Mini games beat me. I just could not either figure out what to do or they were beyond my patience level. The hidden objects were some of the hardest I've ever played. That's not a bad thing, but I do like to be able to see what I'm getting. I would click on the screen and get something no knowing what it was. I don't know if they were just so well hidden or so small I couldn't see them. I believe all but one were the silhouettes, my least favorite anyway, and were interactive at that. So far as a helpers, there is a cell phone which has apps to help you find ghosts and other things that I really could not find the value in having. The interactive map was a great help. Showing where there were things to do and would teleport you to that location.
Story line... same old thing. Monster steals kids and husband and you get to find the eleven keys to free them. Gee, what a new concept...
Although I did not like this game, be sure and try the demo. There are those who really liked it and you might too. As for me, I shall search on.
