Those fireflies (or lightening bugs, depending on where you live) - what a nightmare for me. The demo I was able to play was fun. The graphics and cutscenes were great. The level of challenge was good. Had a nice map and SG. But . . . flying around the hint button in the lower right corner were these fireflies and they flew constantly. They just never stopped. I started feeling motion sickness from them. I tried to ignore it but it kept getting worse, to the point that I HAD to stop playing. If it wasn't for those dadgum fireflies I would have bought the game as I was really liking everything else. But because the fireflies made me sick to my stomach and dizzy, I give the game 2 stars. If not for the fireflies, I would have given it 4 stars.
One other criticism, which is really very minor, is the voice of the therapist sounds very mechanical. It can be overlooked though.
If you suffer from motion sickness be sure to demo before you buy.
I recommend this game!

Part of the appeal is you can't take it too seriously - perfect for those times when you're a little bit down and need a pick me up. Cute and cartoonlike with an overall brightness that left me with an uplifted feeling - it was an enjoyable hour of play.
I found no HOS's in the demo and lots of simple puzzles which were fun to do. Is a great game for beginner's yet even the experienced can enjoy it. There is no map but the running around isn't excessive or offputting. There is a reference book with four parts to it - journal, constellations, spells and puzzles - which all have their uses. There is a hint button that functions as hint, friend and backstory.
I'm having a hard time putting into words how the game comes across to me and the best word I can think of is charming. Definitely recommended to have in one's repertoire for those lazy, rainy days when a little pick-me-up is always welcomed. A solid 4 stars all around.
I recommend this game!

I like crossword puzzles and I sometimes want a mindless object seek and find and this game is a combination of these two.
There is no storyline. There's a modified crossword layout and you click on a box to read a definition of the word you need. Then you look at a HOS to find the object that fits the definition. It's not always as easy as it sounds because sometimes the definitions don't fit the object very well. Other times the definition will fit more than one object. Still other times the object will be a mirror for example, and you will need to click the right mirror out of several. Each misclick detracts from your overall achievements as do hints. I don't know how many individual HOS's there are and you do see HOS's multiple times but always with new objects to find. That's the gist of the game. Sometimes, though, this is exactly what I want when I don't have lots of time or when I don't want to think too hard. The game can be played a little at a time over however long a time you want to stretch it.
Although it's not rocket science, it is a pleasant little game and I recommend it :)

I bought Moonfell yesterday-haven't had the chance to play it yet but still had to demo Skyward. What gorgeous artwork! I didn't get too far in the demo because I was so enthralled with the artwork and took alot of time just soaking it in. The music is lovely too. In the first HOS I kept clicking the unicorn so I could hear him nickering over and over-it was delightful. Even though I didn't get far I still played quite a few puzzles so seems there are alot of puzzles in this game-hooray. They're fun too with just the right amount of challenge for me. There's an excellent hint system and it refills fast. Items are used fairly quickly so no buildup in the inventory up to the point I played. There's an interactive map-most welcome however the map could be better defined. That's really a small negative though and does not detract from enjoyment of the game. This is a definite buy for me on the 1st, when I start my new punchcard, and I recommend it for everyone who wants an enchanting, relaxing gaming experience. Looks like I'm going to have to get the other two games in the series too since Moonfell and Skyward are so good.
I recommend this game!

I played about 45 minutes into the demo before I purchased the game. Would have done it after 15 minutes but I just didn't want to stop playing.
What a fun game this i!. Love the artwork and fantastic cutscenes - Dr. B. is my kind of villian, lol. Has a good hint system and recharges quickly. Love the animals - what's not to love in a doey-eyed kangaroo and can I get some of those insta-grow seeds, please? The music and background sounds are complements to the game, not just noise. There is no map but, as far as I can tell, one isn't needed. The SG seems adequate but I haven't needed it either, so far.
There is plenty to do. Besides exploring around for whatever you find, there's also the interactive HOS's. It's puzzles within puzzles and so much fun to play. Also, great to be able to open doors with puzzles instead of all those darn keys. I 100% recommend you get this.
Enough now. I've got to get back to my game :)
I recommend this game!

I played the demo and loved everything about this game.
Graphics were excellent-what I could expect a damaged, unused orphanage to look like. The cutscenes were done well and I loved how I got those scenes from notes lying around here and there. The story was very interesting and I sure did want to help all those poor souls! Getting to use their psychic powers after I'd restored them was great fun. The HOS were just different enough to keep my interest and, thank goodness, not too small or grainy to be seen. No mad, aimless clicking here!
I have no criticisms of this game and recommend it highly :)

Not bad for a Catch of the Week Special but not a game I would want to invest higher $'s into. I, admittedly, am hard on pirate movies and games and your opinion may differ markedly from mine.
I had some technical issues as mentioned by other's. Also found the hint button to be frustrating and a lot of senseless running around. Dialogue without vo's seemed rather flat. One of the musical scores I heard over and over jangled on my nerves after awhile. I played the first 3 chapters in an hour. Per the walk-through that's halfway through the game, so is short.
The artwork is lovely and some of the music is quite relaxing and beautiful. The whale swimming was just enchanting to watch though it went by too quickly. The puzzles I encountered were not hard.
I think it's a good value at the COTW special and I did get enjoyment out of the 3 chapters I played. Even though I don't have a need to see how it ends and won't be purchasing it, I would recommend it at the sale price for those who like pirate/ocean games.
I recommend this game!

. . . but not loving E.P.I.C. so much.
I tried. I really did. I was prepared to love it. I WANTED to love it. I demo'd it and came away disappointed - a huge let down.
It felt cartoony and unfinished, as if the idea was there, just not realized. No vo's, no excitement anywhere that I could find. The HOS were tiny and had too many unrecognizable items-a real chore to search them.
Someone else said to use the hint button a lot to get to the meat of things. I played up to the third chapter. If I can't reach the meat of things by then, it's a no-buy for me.
I appreciate that the devs tried to give us something new and unique. I view this as a first step. Perhaps the sequel will be better? Since I can see potential here, I'm hoping a sequel will hit the mark and I will be watching for one.
It doesn't really deserve 2 stars because I didn't hate it but I couldn't give 2.5, so I gave 3 overall. Unfortunately, I won't be purchasing it and can't recommend it for anyone else either.
I don't recommend this game.

Based on the demo, I love this game! Wonderful graphics and storyline - the cutscenes are just fantastic and very entertaining. I didn't finish the demo because I was looking so carefully for the owls but no matter. I like HOG's but am finding the adventure games to be more to my liking and I didn't encounter too many HOS as far as I got in this game. The ones I did play were very easy. I found the puzzles to be easy as well. Also the sound quality is excellent and I love the sound of rain.
I had a mix of emotions playing the game. The rain was soothing and relaxing. Warring with this was the sense of urgency for the quest. Then there was the question of just what was going on with the hooded character and what was up with that earthquake? Also was delight for the surroundings and then the jumps when certain cutscenes suddenly appeared. When I'm feeling all this while demoing a game I know it's a must have so I will be purchasing the CE on payday (which can't come soon enough for me).
I recommend this game!

I bought this last night and played all night long - couldn't even stop for sleep. That's how good this game is. The cutscenes are absolutely amazing. Good storyline, great picture quality, pleasing vo's, great sound fx-the clacking sound of the jaws when the pirates talk to you is hilarious.
This is a game that will appeal to everyone. It's a bloodthirsty pirate tale and a story of love and redemption. It's creepy and dramatic with a little humor thrown in for good measure. I don't usually go in for pirate movies so didn't expect to like it but thought I'd try the demo anyway. I was caught up from the very first cutscene and couldn't stop til the game was over. The SE has a complete ending so I don't see where they could do a sequel but I sure hope there's one in the works. I may have to get the CE because I want more.
If all games met the high standard this game has set, we would all be in gamer heaven. I definitely recommend you play this game :)
