This game was amazing! I was so engrossed in play that I actually jumped when my hour ran out.
After skipping the annoying intro with an unimpressive backstory you are taken to the map. Your journey starts in America. The year is 1795. The movie contains historically interesting facts and you are asked to journey through the next few levels to recover the peace pipe of the First Nations people. The background art, artifacts, and sound FX reflect the culture of the current map. Your task is to get the broken pieces of artifact to the bottom of the screen to replace them. Meanwhile, matching > 4 tiles at a time charges a medallion that blows up multiple tiles when activated. Other power-ups are thrown in for good measure and are collected when they reach the bottom of the screen. Your next virtual vacation is Renaissance Italy where you are restoring the Atlas of Claudius Ptolemy to its former glory. I made it to level 13 before my hour ran out. Is that unlucky?
In addition to THAT, you can earn over 40 achievements which are viewed with the Achievements button. You can also opt to review the History movies with the click of another button. If you're not a History buff, there are also options to skip the commentary and movies.
This was a delightful game for the young-at-heart. It was almost like playing with an interactive fairytale storybook. The characters, movies and music are adorable. Everything is relatively easy to find/solve so it's a great game for a beginner or younger child. There are 16 achievements to unlock and a collection of 40 cupcakes(nom nom) to find. Your adventure equipment includes a friendly gingerbread man hint button, a journal with objectives tab and an instant teleport map.
or am I the only one who finds these broken childood games disturbing? Eek!
Your husband has disappeared. Your daughter is having prophetic dreams about him. He's managed to leave a few cryptic messages which lead you to a world of possessed puppets, talking dolls and evil clowns. What does any of this have to do with the plane crash? Is that Tim Curry behind all that make-up?
There were alot of puzzles to solves...not as many HOS. The graphics and cutscenes are top notch. You are equipped with a journal, map, talking hint doll and a dollhouse to assemble along the way. Bonus points were awarded to the store keeper for cussing at the "damned costume".
This is a wonderfully disturbing and eerie game with crisp graphics, spooky characters, and plenty of mysteries to unravel. I enjoy games that tempt the player into learning more about the historical events and people whom they have encountered. At the menu, the player is given the option to explore other games in the series that will encourage interest in the lives of Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
I appreciated the lack of annoying narration. I prefer to read dialog boxes myself. When interacting with the ghosts, the player is given a number of response options. Collecting ravens and lucky clovers will unlock hint options and a bonus game in unlimited HOS mode. There are also 14 achievements to collect. The HOS objects are historically accurate and appropriate to the setting. They are well-hidden and fun to search for. The strategy guide is available for clear step-by-step instructions for the lost and confused. There is an option to skip puzzles but it charges VERY slowly.
I will keep checking the Daily Deal section for the other titles in the Midnight Mysteries series. They are definitely worth collecting.
and they think that this is a delightful little game. When I saw that this was the Daily Deal, I just had to try it. I already own Barn Yarn which is the sequel. I actually like this one more than Barn Yarn! The characters are adorable, even though some of their solutions to problems defy the laws of physics, and you get to name the dog whatever you want. *grin*
Bright, colorful Match 3 fun is paired with an assortment of scattered HOS, mini-games and fixer-upper projects. There is a healthy crop of trophies to collect and you can feature your finished farm design as a screensaver.
Yes that is correct...you begin your adventure with a cheeky companion owl and a pocket dragon who accompany you on your journey. The storyline has been done to death but it's a cute little game nonetheless.
There are 15 achievements to earn. A few of them encourage you to complete each chapter in less than an hour and complete the entire game in under four hours. The rest are given for acquiring all of the morphing object collectibles, not using hints/skips and playing the game on the most difficult mode of the three. The CE also includes a Bonus Chapter, collectibles, concept art, wallpapers, soundtrack, cutscene replay, and a strategy guide.
The graphics are bright, colorful and visually interesting. I appreciated the lack of voice-over as I prefer to read things myself. Everything is well-explained in tutorial the first time you play a level. The sound effects are adorable;from grumpy man muttering to the curvy viking lady saying "I'll do it". The time limit to complete the level with 3 stars is a challenge. I enjoy figuring out what will get tasks accomplished faster and replaying the level to acquire all the stars.
My only complaint is that I would prefer them to pick up the gold and materials themselves and bring them back to headquarters.
This is a cute game and will keep you very busy! ++++
I was disappointed not to find a glass filled with spicy tomato juice, vodka, a large pickle and a skewer of olives on one of those neat little cocktail swords.....yea...wrong Bloody Mary.
This was the most creeptastic game in the Grim Tales series yet. The toys and drawings take on a life of their own in this latest edition to the collection. The artwork is hauntingly beautiful and the careful use of color and lighting definitely add to the chill factor.
The CE includes a bonus chapter, wallpapers, concept art, music, collectibles, achievements, screensavers, a hall of memories and a strategy guide.
Elephants Games never fails to impress! 5 stars and top marks in all categories! Bravo!
