The graphics were lovely and the storyline had potential but this game was way too confusing and difficult to interact with. There were spelling errors and way too much printed dialogue that seemed like a badly written comic book. I didn't even last 15 minutes.
This episode of Dark Dimensions has you investigating Red Lake Falls, Michigan circa 1918.
The disturbed and jealous brother of an overachieving beauty queen makes for a very suspicious character. There's been an earthquake but where are all the bodies? The ghost of a little girl begs her mother to "make me perfect like your wax figures". Her mother, the matron of the wax museum is hiding something.
+ Challenging HOS - most items must be found in pairs to activate each other + Skull Hint button melts when used
- no map - cut scenes use real people and the gestures, voices and movements are out-of-sync,hard to watch and are not a good fit with the rest of the game - part of the journal didn't seem to make sense and seemed to have repeat mistakes in it.
I recommend this game!

Dark Dimensions: City of Ash Collector's Edition
A dark dimension has fallen over Phoenix Hill, turning its residents into volcanic ash. Help them rise from the ashes.
Travel back in time to 1956 to help solve the mystery of a mining town that was destroyed by a volcano. You meet the ghost of Audrey, the daughter of the mayor, who is trying to shut down the mine because it is making the town and the volcano unstable. Another ghost says that the mayor "got greedy". A strange man is trying to prevent you from discovering the truth. What does it all mean?
Great balance of HOS and puzzles. The HOS were very challenging because most items on the list need to be found in pairs and used to acquire each other.
* Bonus Content includes a bonus game, concept art, wallpapers and a collections page.
This was an extremely fun and amusing little game with high addictive potential. The characters are adorable. The sound effects are entertaining. The level of challenge wasn't too hot or too cold...but JUST right.
Each level assigns various tasks that need to be completed before the time runs out. Tasks involve gathering enough food, wood and gold resources to build homes, processing factories and defensive towers and to repair/destroy important structures. Warriors are at the ready to defend the area and rescue citizens/allies. Additional artifacts allow you to harness 5 weather-related powers to assist you in your adventures.
There are tabs to explain the Awards,Artifacts,Heroes and Buildings as well as the 6 categories of awards that can be earned for farm, gold gathering, repair, rescue, building and warrior-related tasks.
I'm a big fan of the world of Harry Potter and playing this game felt like jumping into the pages of one of my favorite books.
By moving about the castle and grounds you are able to accumulate wealth by finishing tasks in each scene which include HOS, puzzles and interactions with items in inventory. At the beginning, you receive a spellbook, wand and map. The map allows you to jump between various scenes instead of moving via arrow. The wand is used to cast various spells after you've learned them.
After you've finished a scene you are able to do business with a cheeky leprechan and get money for upgrades to the castle. If you don't fix up the castle, the big wigs will close its doors. We don't want that.
Other interesting features include: ~ fairies hidden in the scenes that will eliminate a random object from your list ~ gold reward for finding several items in a row without making a mistake and for clicking items quickly after they glow or hint is used ~ crystal ball HINT button allows you to choose which item you'd like to find ~ gems hidden around the castle ~ pay gold to skip a puzzle
There are many ways to customize gameplay. I would recommend using one of the two pointy cursors instead of the crystal. I found that some thinner objects were hard to activate otherwise.
the villain in this game kidnapped a wolf cub and left him without food or water in a very inadequate crate. :(
I really enjoyed the HOS in this game. You are given a silhouette of an object to find. That object is then used to retrieve or locate other items. It's very interactive and was fun to do.
This was an amusing game with some very unique features.
There are 4 light settings but I've learned the hard way not to use anything except default. There are two modes of gameplay: easy and hard. This review is on easy mode.
Everything was very beautiful and I enjoyed the blue/purple glowing effect.
I loved that the map included graphics of the items that you were supposed to find and use in each scene and also listed the puzzles, HOS, information to be found or characters to talk to. The Hint button also showed a picture diagram of the interactions in each area. Obviously, neither of these need to be used unless you're stuck. The hint button recharged very fast. There were extra blue stars to find that featured an illumination of the entire HOS if necessary.
I enjoyed the interaction between Vida and Mr. Black: the cussing ferret. It was cheeky and conversational, like an actual companion would be.
The HOS were plentiful and very challenging. The music made me want to grab a butterbeer and curl up with a lemon sherbet and a good book.
Rebuild Atlantis during this potentially addictive Match 3 game!
~ Pleasant non-distracting music ~ Excellent sound effects - ahh the sound of breaking glass in the morning! ~ Helpful tutorial voice-overs when new items/tasks are encountered. ~ Use the bricks earned during each level to pay for building construction and upgrades.
Many different ways to play. Play against the clock or go zen.

I love the pirate genre even though it has been done to death. This was a captivating and spooky little HOPA game with beautiful graphics and cut scenes. The opening music had me lost in memories of POCO and Captain Jack Sparrow.
