I played the first game in this series on my android phone and loved it. It was one of the first adventure games I had played since Myst, but it still holds my interest today. This new one however is SPECTACULAR! I love the atmosphere. Very creepy. The atmosphere alone sold me on this game in the first 2 mins, but then it just kept getting better. Just the right level of difficulty and just the right amount of assistance when needed. I can't wait to play the whole game through and finish the story. Starting the game off in a dream, brilliant. And what I had to use the phone for just cracked me up! You'll see what I mean. I hope a lot of people buy this game and give good reviews because this company has shown itself to have great minds making their games. I am SO sick of HOGs. I don't understand those who want to just pick stuff out of a junk pile all day. I can do that in real life in the dumpster down the street, or in my closet. ;) It isn't fair to judge this game based on whether or not it has HO scenes, its not a HOG. Its straight adventure, and when you rate this game based on that, it is one of the best I'v ever played, if not THE best, we'll see. I wish I could give this game 10 stars.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
To be fair, I haven't played the whole game yet, but it looks like a great game from the demo. I just earned a free game so this is what I pick. I'll update my review when I'v completed the game. But from what I'v read in the reviews I think I'm gonna love it. Most of the games that people rate 5 stars are just boring. All the same. But this one, people are actually getting upset about the content of the game. Even after there is a disclaimer! To me that's a good sign. No one is complaining about the game being boring or short, just gruesome and scary. Which is right up my alley. I'v played far too many games that send me from HO scene to HO scene and I never have to put any actual thought into it because the game just plays itself, I just have to move the objects to where I'm told. Also the Morphing Objects are a great idea, I'v always enjoyed them when they were a part of a game, but with this one they took it to the next level with Morphing object scenes, like HOs with a new, refreshing twist! And I'm not bombarded with these MO scenes every 3 mins like I am with every other HOG these days. I'm so excited about playing this game, I can't wait to get started, I'm just trying to get myself to hold off until I finish MCF: Return to Ravenhurst first. I played some of The first Ravenhurst and Madam Fate but they were just straight HOGs, I developed eye strain and severe boredom from them so I had to stop. I wouldn't have gotten them if I had known they weren't adventure games. My own fault for not reading the description thoroughly. (Well the mini games in those weren't bad though, especially in Madam Fate) But I just got Return on my Android and want to finish that first to understand the story. So yes I will be updating this review to be more specific about the game. I just wanted to refute the bad reviews this game has so unjustly gotten. This game is HUGE, and looks to be a great adventure! What an awesome find! THANKS BF!
A new breed of virus has spread throughout the City of Oxford. You must search the city for a missing girl who holds the key to stopping the global epidemic!
I got this game because I just seemed to come across it over and over and decided to finally give it a shot and I'm so glad I did. I really don't know how anyone wouldn't at least like this game. I loved it. I played it all day, never closed it, just took bathroom breaks & did my daily housework. The HO scenes in this game were my favorite style and I'v never seen them done quite as well as they are in this game. They were interactive but with a real purpose. Along the lines of the object i need is in a safe but the key is locked in a cage, so when I find the bolt cutters I can get in the cage to get the key and open the safe. But it was usually a MUCH longer chain of actions in the game. Of course some of the interactions were silly. Like planting a seed and watering it so the key you need will grow out of the flower bud. That gave me a good laugh. But that kind of silliness is ok because most of the time it made sense. Also another entertaining aspect is the bum you meet a few times. He's a riot. Seriously, if you get this game, the part under the overpass, look at that guy before you start talking to him, just take in his stance and facial expression. Its hysterical. The length was fine, not the longest game I'v ever played, but not short either. I can't give an accurate time because I paused a few times. But I don't feel cheated by the length, so for me that's what matters. I recommend giving this game a chance. I bet you'll like it.
This game was so much fun! For one thing the scenes had real actors and I think they did a great job. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible. The HO scenes were crisp and clear but I'v seen clearer, crispier ones. lol The story line had me interested and I was able to play it through more than once without being bored out of my wits. The only complaint I have are the scenes where the actors repeat the same word over and over and over... It got annoying and you couldn't click to skip it. But that doesn't affect my rating because it didn't ruin the game or story line. There's just something about this game, the atmosphere or the flow of the game play, something... makes it a lot of fun. This is my current favorite on my PC. There's another game that I have on my phone that is my absolute favorite, Stray Souls: Dollhouse Story CE, it's spectacular! But I digress. This game is my second over-all favorite. If that tells you anything. Highly recommended!
I usually go for the darker creepier games. But I found a free game code, so why not? Turns out it was a fun game. The artwork was pretty and the games were fun, not too challenging. It was nice to play this on a gloomy day when I didn't want to get out of bed. Nice to just play and relax without getting worked up or frustrated. The hidden object scenes were clear and bright so I didn't have to crouch over the screen and squint, so no headache. The hint system is the kind I'm not fond of, it doesn't show you where to go, just says there's nothing to do in the current room. I didn't need it more than once, but that one time I had to go from room to room hitting hint to find out what I had missed. Doesn't ruin the game though. :) Overall I do recommend this game for an easy day in bed. Not so much if your looking for a challenge. But It's a good break from the darkness.
