I LOVE decorating games but there are too few of them on this site [well I'm not into fixing up fishbowls, btw]. So when I saw this game I was excited. It's advertised as free-to-play but LOL LOL you will need to shell out money to buy required items at some point: so although it IS free to play, it can be costly to continue playing heheh. That said, I figured this out by reading other reviews [ty] but since I have a bit of "mad money" to blow on whatever [now & then] I decided to buy some of the game cash and stars needed to get items [although you CAN earn a lot of them in the game]. What I really appreciated is that I got a 30% discount on the buying because I'm a Big Fish member. YaY. So this game has cost me some money for decorating 2 homes. [Also, there are more floor plan designs available.] I did really enjoy the decorating and overall, I like this game and would recommend it but be forewarned: it's slow moving [though that suited me fine because I get anxious with the fast-paced games]. Developers PLEASE note: MORE decorating games are needed---and cheaper ones! Thank you.
I recommend this game!

I simply adored this game and I recall being misty-eyed at the visual beauty which took place (and moved me) in a few of the puzzle solutions. I was determined not to use outside help for any of the mysteries in this game but I finally broke down and received outside guidance occasionally. But this did not spoil things for me as I can get frustrated if solving clues is overly long. Sometimes, I even paused the game when I logged off because I wanted this game to last longer. Why? I was enjoying it so much. I have played the first four of the Virtual Villagers games, loved them all but this was definitely my favourite. PLEASE LDOW, create more Virtual Villagers games? PLEASE?
I recommend this game!

This game is SO satisfying [at some level] to me...because I keep playing it for a short while EVERY day but never seem to get bored with it for long even though it's repetitive at times. The people always change and the family dynamics do too. Last week, my couple had triplet boys: they were very active and naughty lil rascals so I had to pause the game when I went afk just so they would age as slowly as possible. Omg it was such a fun lively home when they were running all over and giggling and testing all the COOL new toys that are now available here. My only complaint is that I'm unable to buy money anywhere [even though you can with an iPad] so in my laptop, I have to earn everything by working my people hard. And long. The music is haunting & lovely in this game and in its predecessor. To be honest, I LOVE both versions of Virtual Families [even though they are slow-moving] and I rate them both five stars. *****
I recommend this game!

I enjoy SOME of the puzzles in this game (especially all the word ones which vary in play-out rules). After I went through about fifteen levels, I moved from general "Challenge" play to "Practice" play which enabled me to focus on just the puzzles that I enjoyed most. There, you are able to choose from three levels of difficulty and the hardest one is not a cinch in my opinion. However, SOME Big Fish fans seem to be geniuses so maybe the puzzles are simple to them, idk. Anyway, I do like this game but would only enjoy it for somewhat small periods of time, then have fun with it on other occasions later. The roller-coaster ride at the beginning has cool graphics and the puzzles are colourful with excellent directions. (You can click the language you want at onset of gameplay...there are appx. half a dozen choices.) The music was jazzy-okay but BE FOREWARNED: the sound is extremely loud right away and it takes a while before you can adjust settings so turn down your computer volume BEFORE you load this game. (I was fine with sound level #10 out of a possible 100)
I recommend this game!

This springtime game is full of Easter eggs and bunnies to locate in each HO scene in addition to the list of items to find. Most of the scenes are different and have moving parts in the pictures as well as objects inside things (behind doors, in manholes, etc.) It appears to be a child's game with simpler puzzle challenges BUT I found that I needed to use the hint for some items in most of the HO scenes so it was reasonably difficult for adults as well as for youngsters. The music and images and colours are all happiness-producing: this is definitely a "feel good" game and I would recommend it for all ages. Simply put, I enjoyed playing it a LOT.
I recommend this game!

This is a terrific game to my thinking: I have no idea why some reviews are so bad because I enjoyed it immensely. [Mind you, I have not seen the movie but a PC game's a different medium anyway so of course, the experience is altered.] But I saw the preview and felt I would like it...and I read one very positive review so I trusted that and bought this game. I was not disappointed: the graphics are wonderfully atmospheric and the music is suspenseful throughout while gradually building the tension. You play U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels investigating one patient's disappearance in a hospital for the criminally insane. There is occasional dialogue but it's short and only for plot development. The revelations take place mainly through HOs and some mini-games as well--though the latter can be skipped if desired. What made this exciting for me is that the game is viewed through your eyes [Teddy is never seen] but you suffer from migraine headaches, so...when this happens, you see spots in front of your eyes and blood vessels in your peripheral vision as you try to find objects! LOL. Also, in some HOGs, sea mist rolls in and you try to find objects through the motion of it. So fun! Then, later on, the building's generator begins to fail and the HOGs are in blinking, fading light with momentary blackouts. Finally, there's power failure and all Teddy has is a flashlight for solving the clues. If you don't enjoy Hidden Object games then, this will not appeal to you but please consider playing this IF you like them...because this is my favourite HOG ever! And yes, some items are/were hard to find but so what? [Because there are unlimited hints available.] Oh and incidentally, there was one part in here when I jumped out of my proverbial skin in real life. Buy this game and you'll see!
I recommend this game!

The original game was wonderful to play and this sequel is even better: the island's area is larger, access to new clothes is available; there are no grey-haired children [like some in A New Home]...and more differences, too...but I don't want to spoil this by revealing too much. The challenges are all new and the game is exciting---especially when you're given the choice of playing at whatever speed is enjoyable for you. I'm rating this 5 stars and here they are now *****.

Virtual Villagers is a WONDERFUL game. I was not sure I wanted to play a "tribal" game but it's truly exciting! The instructions are explained well in a short tutorial and then the player is left on his/her own to solve the mysteries from some visual or textual clues. I enjoyed taking my time figuring out how to enable the islanders to survive and thrive [after fleeing their previous volcanic island]. I like this first game of the VV series so much that I went to Big Fish and bought the ensuing four sequels ... because I think I will love to play them too. KUDOS to LDW for creating their charming and fun games!
PS. Once the islanders got busy, I liked turning off the music and just listening to sounds of the ocean & splashes, the building taking place, children giggling, lovers kissing, babies cooing, apprentices sighing "no", etc.
I recommend this game!

Magnificent, noble, special, brilliant, mesmerizing and even loving! These just a few adjectives that pop into mind when I think of Virtual Families: What a game it is! It's simply about people in one home and the lives they live out in your computer, whether you're online or not [though there's a pause setting to use if you're going to be away for long]. So what's the draw here? I'm NOT sure but it DOES tug at you, draws you near to check out how each generation is faring and moves you to help out in simple ways. This is not a challenging game but OH how lovely it is! The music is sweet and poignant like our own very lives and as soon as you hear the tune, it plays your heartstrings like an instrument...with a melody that maybe only your soul recognizes. [Pliz pardon my sappiness] And how is this game so loving? Well, when you come online, the people have ways to greet you warmly, even going so far as to send you occasional emails [via their onscreen PCs]. WoW! And they include you a bit in each of your visits. If you imagine this is like that other famous game of simulated people, it really is not: this is far more mellow and haunting in its tenderness and beauty [imo]. Need I say that I ADORE this game? I do and I give it FIVE+ in stars.
MAJOR TIP: Log into your home at beginning of game [with one or 2 avatars], then log off. Set your PC calendar back 2 years and return into the game for a few minutes. Then, log out once more and correct your PC date to present. When you come back into the game, you will be RICH to buy all kinds of cool items from the store.
My ONLY disappointment was/is that there are no expansion packs for the families to have more new things to buy AND places to travel: They keep emailing me they want trips and I cannot help them yet: I hope the developers will give us more for this game, it would be SO appreciated by gamers like me.
P.S. Yes, I know the avatars have kinda bushy eyebrows but you WILL grow to love this on them as you grow to love the people they represent.
PPS. Finally, I'm aware there's a Virtual Families 2 [I like it & have it in my iPad] but I actually prefer this fabulous earlier version, exciting in its almost slo-mo style.

To be honest, thirty-eight levels of the first four parts to this game were exciting and musical and pleasant and fun! Especially, I LOVED catching the thieves and I enjoyed the creative challenge of how to approach each individual set of difficulties for new steps. Two of the others (Part 3, Level 6 and Part 4, Level 10) were excruciatingly repetitive and arduous to the point of tears. Then, this afternoon, I began Part 5, Level 2 at 1:00 and by 4:30, I was still trying to click my way to delivering 200 scaffolds and 200 metal beams for the virtual Titanic. MY hand was hurting and I said to myself, "People have a LIFE...surely I can exit this game and the three and a half hours I have put into this level will be saved!" Well, it turns out the developers did not build this into the game and worse: it appears they have not heard of carpal tunnel problems that can arise from hours and hours of clicking on the same few virtual spots!!! I guess this was a test of stupidity-endurance but in fact, it was pointless and laborious and totally without regard to wrist-safety. Now, I'm too disgusted to continue and will never know how all my many days devoted to what I hoped would be fair play culminate in the game's finale and certainly, when I had earlier planned on buying the set of "Eiffel Tower" and "Statue of Liberty" Monument Builders games, umm....THAT WON'T BE HAPPENING NOW. [Yeah, I am mad atm!]
I don't recommend this game.
