From the dream team that brought New York Mysteries and Lost Lands comes another epic master piece. A young girl named Alice finds a strange box holding an egg. From that egg a Bird of Fire hatches, and somehow enters right into the girl, leaving a burn mark on her arm. From that moment on, Alice is part of the eternal battle between Darkness and Flame. Soldiers are after her, but Alice's father manages to save her - at the price of his life. Forced to flee her home, Alice sets off to find her only relative - her uncle - someone she has never met. Together they'll have to undergo many trials in all corners of the Fertile Lands, meet exotic tribes and races, avoid imminent danger, solve dozens of puzzles, and finally face the great evil threatening the whole fantasy world. Will Alice manage to harness the power of the Flame granted to her by destiny, and save her lands before they are turned into a lifeless desert? It's up to you to play the role of Alice in this long playing fantasy thriller. Make your way thru the Beoglinn Valley, the Mountain River, Cliff Town, the Floating Island, and finally the Desert of Death. This game really exceeded my wildest expectations, and the quest was totally worth every moment of game play. Fantasy adventure lovers are in for a spectacular ride. I love and admire this developer for the talent and brilliant imagination it takes to create a game like this. Thank you BigFish for this excellent journey into the world of Fantasy. xox

This is a great SE where you (Amanda) must save your finance James when he is kidnapped by a masked man who once worked in the town mines. The people in town call him "The Lone Miner". You meet different characters in your quest. Mr. Thompson, a shotgun toting local. Mike, your brother who you come to visit, and Seth a local from your past. Who has kidnapped James and why? It's a fun thriller with lots of great graphics and excellent voice acting. Good sound/SFX and enough puzzles and hos' to entice you further into the game. I just wish the mystery had lasted longer. Players of every level can enjoy this one too.
I recommend this game!

Wow! This is the 8th edition of Haunted Legends and ERS had made one Exceptional, Riveting, and Sensational Mystery Thriller. The Man in the Iron Mask is a great story and you play the role of an investigator for the secret service. The cruel King Louis XIV of France has a secret twin brother who he keeps imprisoned. Can the twin be substituted for the real king? You must find Count Philip and free him but there is a twist in this adaptation. The impudent little Saint Germain is out to thwart your investigation. It wouldn't be Haunted Legends without this essential character! Then there is the Secret book of knowledge you come across in the beginning inside Catherine de Medias library. Find all 12 seals and place them on the jacket of the book to reveal to reveal it's shocking details. The developers have really put an award winning amount of effort in recreating this epic adventure. I loved Leonardo DiCaprio in The Man in the Iron Mask movie too. This is also a return to a longer playing game (4 hours for me) plus the bonus game. I loved everything about this game and I'm such of fan of this popular series. I am glad it is still trending with fans and new players are bound to play earlier editions once they play this one. Thanks BigFish for another excellent Editors Choice adventure.
I recommend this game!

I am a big fan of this continuing series yet I didn't think this edition measured up to previous ones. Once again, you are tasked with a paranormal case. The Red Dragon pub is haunted by a vengeful ghost. It's up to you to begin investigating why. You also get assistance with your investigation when you give drinks to the town drunk (LOL). The spirit is a woman by the name of Florry, who was killed by her husband (drowned in a well, as said), the next wife of this man covered him by telling, the missing wife would have fled town together with her lover, now Florry wants her revenge. You soon discover motives and the back story of this husband is horrific and more than enough to keep you playing to discover who to save, and HOW to save the day. While the story plot is new and exciting I can't say the same about the graphics and the special effects. Hand drawn graphics doesn't seem to work with this game, other reviewers have already commented on. The CE bling has already been described and the bonus game while fun, doesn't add anything to the main story. I remain a fan of the series even though I personally thought previous editions were executed with flawless graphic, effects, and game play. When you demo the game you will have completed enough of the adventure to decide on purchasing. I really liked the story I just wanted more from HOS, Puzzles, Graphics, voices, and game play.
I recommend this game!

In the fifth episode of The Secret Order series Sarah is about to take some time off from her service when she receives news from a long seen friend, Julie who is looking for a lost land. Sarah is about to visit her when things get an unexpected turn and Sarah finds herself in the middle of a life-threatening adventure where she needs all her wittiness and expertise to save the life of her friend and defeat a group of dangerous villains. Playing the role of Sarah on her quest in The Buried Kingdom is a fantastic adventure, just like previous editions in the series of The Secret Order, a secret society sworn to protect against the Dragon clan. Julie may have found the key to a lost city, but what should be a joyous reunion takes a dark turn when she's kidnapped by unknown assailants. Only you can save her with the aid of your baby dragon side kick Droi, whom you meet shortly after arriving in the Kingdom. The special effects and the HOPA variations and puzzles were perfect, not too easy or too difficult. I thought the voice acting was perfect and the gameplay mechanics keep you playing, before you know it hours will have passed and you'll still be enjoying this epic journey! Players of every level will enjoy the combination of Fantasy and Mystery in this exciting addition to The Secret Order series. I loved it and I am a fan of the series!
The Collector's Edition includes:
● Replay your favorite mini-games and hidden-object puzzles
● Collect dragon eggs and morphing objects
● Collect wallpapers, concept art, and more!
● An integrated Strategy Guide!
● Save the Buried Kingdom from certain destruction in the bonus game!

This edition of Surface was a must-have purchase for me. Many of the classic fairy tales have been retold in a variety of ways over the years, especially classics like Red Riding Hood and Cinderella. However, one can still find methods to add something new to the formula, even if the only thing that changes is one little detail about a situation or a character. With enough imagination, that small change can lead to very different results. Your ultimate quest is to save a kingdom from utter destruction! In Surface: Lost Tales you play the role of a girl trying to figure out why she's suddenly in a fairy tale and nothing makes sense around her. The game features classic HOPA gameplay mechanics and progression, which means that most of your time is spent analyzing the environment in order to find useful objects. I love this format Elephant uses in the creation of their games.
The story is pretty strange as well, since it’s a combination of Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and Alice in Wonderland. Thus, the main character finds herself in a different world after a doctor’s visit, which is why The Huntsman is after her and she becomes the kingdom’s only hope for survival. Granted, the plot is not too complex, but it’s interesting enough to keep you engaged for a while. There are also nice mini-games to diversify the gameplay. Every now and again you are put to the test with some kind of puzzle, and although they are not very complicated or anything like that, you may have a tough time arranging all the pieces in the correct order. Other puzzles put your reflexes to the test, such as the one that has you speeding through traffic and trying to avoid the other cars as quickly as you can. The graphics are pretty nice, if you do not mind the fact that they are hand-drawn and not very animated. I find that this allows for much more detail than in a fully three-dimensional rendering. The soundtrack is pretty nice as well, especially since it’s dynamic and it evolves depending on what’s happening on the screen. In the end, Surface: Lost Tales is quite the riveting experience, especially if you are a fan of the genre. Hence, if you need to relax for a little bit and you want to enjoy a nice story at the same time, this could certainly be your game. Thank you BigFish and Elephant for continuing this extraordinary Series!!!

I recommend this game!

This was a must-have purchase for me! From the dreamteam that brought the hit series, Fear For Sale and Witches' Legacy, comes a new Hidden Object Adventure masterpiece. I think I am not the only one hidden object puzzle adventure gamer that thinks of hidden object scenes the moment you enter an antiques store. Well, at least BigFish and Elefun Games thought of it too! Not everyone likes antiques stores, but a lot of people do. Even if you don't buy anything, it is usually interesting to explore those things of the past. In this New Series your uncle owns a store like that, but you haven't heard from him for a while. You come down to the store and soon realize that your uncle is trapped in a book of nightmares and desperately needs your help. So, prepare to explore a lot of his stuff and learn things before you get to the point when you can rescue him. It's a compelling click and point story that begins slow but then totally reels you in once you progress beyond demo play. There is a bonus game where you go the 18th century Paris. The story and the gameplay kept me totally engaged. Everything about the game from start to end looks gorgeous. The colors and shades and all the detail made a lasting impression. It's easy to see why this unique mystery received the Editor's award. The game has the usual four modes of difficulty - Casual, Normal, Hard, Custom. The hints (10-35 seconds) and skips (10-50 seconds) are adjusted a bit differently than we are used to. You get a map as you begin to play as well as a strategy guide. The gameplay shows some innovation traits, especially the hidden object scenes department. They are all very well thought out. There are all possible kinds of HOPS, many of which are puzzle-like. Some are shorter, the other are longer and more complex. Some have puzzles within them. The puzzles are fun to play and will suit any gamer, because they differ in type and difficulty too. There are morphing objects (33) to find as well as all the collectibles (69). You also need to earn all the achievements (12) to complete the game. After that, you can download all the media bling prepared for you! I really enjoyed the entire experience and I think fans of the genre are going to also. Thank you BigFish for this Excellent Edition!!!

This is the second edition of Invasion, the first being "Lost in Time". Once again we journey with Mike on another excellent expedition. This time to an Island in the Pacific where his plan crashes. I think both editions are great SE games just different story lines. You don't need to play the first to understand this story, although they do refer to the "aliens" from the first game a bit. By Itera Labs, it is a pretty basic, bare-bones sort of HOG. There are just two difficulty settings, casual and difficult, with the difference only being the speed the hint refills. Keep a dictionary handy, if you want to know exactly what your inventory items are, or what you are missing! I was just curious, it isn't needed for the game. I think the translators used a thesaurus and picked the most obscure, archaic meanings for simple items, as well as using scientific terms. I never took chemistry, so didn't know a "permanganic acid" was one that is unstable and only exists in a dilute solution! But, there it was... sitting there for us to use. After all, don't you ever run across a permanganic acid in a pile of rubble? LOL. I really enjoyed this Scify thriller and I recommend playing the first Invasion too. The gameplay has no voice overs only written dialogue. Some words are lost in translation but doesn't affect gameplay. During the adventure HOS always sparkle.
HOS:
1- three silhouette items open an interactive list.
2- the same
Although the scenes are pretty much junk-piles they are enjoyable and well made.
PUZZLES:
Many more than HOS.
1- click on balls to remove from board, leaving no more than 10. But... clicking one may remove more than one, or add more! I skipped this, it was taking too long and frustrating me.
2- position arrows to point at certain flowers. Easy.
3- move balls to correct color. I skipped, although I think I'd be able to do it with time.
4- "Hit all the aims." Which meant, using a repaired "arbalest," aim and hit targets. I couldn't figure out how to control the arbalest to aim.
5- switch tiles to restore the picture. This reveals the story from a notebook we find.
EXTRAS:
No collectibles, but you can replay HOS and puzzles you have completed. There are match-3 puzzles in the "crystals" area. Also, jigsaws of scenes from the game. These and the match-3 are accessible at all times, even without completing the game.
I recommend this for everyone, beginners to expert. If you have been waiting to use a free game coupon this is one to consider. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Eipix goes full throttle with this edition of Hidden Expedition. The H.E.L.P. academy has been broken into and robbed. It seems that the burgler was interested in one particular thing from there - a map that is tied to a Norse artifact that has some immense powers that can lead to a catastrophe noone is prepared to, not even the Nordic gods. And the whole Norse myth is about the end of the world. Things get pretty hot as you try to find the one behind it. You are going ot have to travel around the world from Budapest to Greenland to figure this case out. There is also a bonus game where you follow a madman in Arctic mines. Eipix Entertainment really deserve to know that they did a great job with this game. The story is interesting and even informative as you travel from one place to another. The graphics are gorgeous and very detailed and the audios are excellent and well fitting the characters and the story. There are four modes of difficulty to choose from (Easy, Medium, Hard, and Custom). You can adjust your hints (10-120 seconds) and skips (10-400 seconds). A Map and a strategy guide is provided as you play to help you find your way to the very end of it. There seems to be a good balance between the hidden object scenes and the mini games. Both are very well thought through and seem to have something new to offer to those who have been in this genre for a while. They are also not easily solved, so the game may take quite a lot of time to complete. There is quite a lot to collect as you proceed: 43 Thor's Hammer signs, 20 H.E.L.P fact cards, and 15 morphing objects. There are also achievements and a souvenir room. You can also expect all the usual media extras, like concept art and wallpaper. All in all this was my favorite in the series, and I have played them all!
I recommend this game!

Within the peaceful West Indies, a growing threat appeared. From the remnants of scattered swashbucklers a powerful force rises know as The Pirate King. In this game you play as a governor's daughter who has been kidnapped by the order of the infamous evil Pirate King. While he thinks that his evil intentions are being carried our by this group, there is actually a plot against him, and you are in the middle of it.
The pirates who kidnapped you let you live, but leave you on an island full of pirates. Now you really need to be smart and witty to pretend to be one of them and help destroy the Pirate King. It is a fantastic pirate story with a lot of interesting characters. GOLD TEETH, NO FINGERS (the mechanic who builds the indestructible Waverunner ship) TERESA 'LA TORMENTA GARCIA and her brother SKYTE, and BARTHOLOMEW ROUS (the shaman pirate). You get to meet all kinds of personas, but you can not trust them all.
During your journey you are assisted by colonists Bowen and Amara who help you learn for yourself who to trust and why the Pirate King is collecting Souls. I was fascinated by this exceptional Pirate tell and very impressed with the superior graphics, sound/SFX, Voices, and soundtrack. Then there is a bonus game in the CE version where you play a bit more discovering the history of the pirate's curse. The visuals of this game are absolutely wonderful - the depth of the sea or the ship cabins look great. The game is available in four modes of difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Custom. The hints (10-120 seconds) and skips (10-400 seconds) are adjustable as you would expect from this kind of game. A map is provided as you play as well as a strategy guide if you usually use one of those. Most of the game play seems to be quite easy. The hidden object scenes are going to feel quite familiar for those who have played any of the series' games before. You have a Match 3 if you are not in the mood for hidden objects. You still need to be on the look out for morphing objects, though.
The puzzles differ in their type and difficulty. Both HOP scenes (18) and puzzles (25) are up for replay. You get to earn 17 achievements and collect messages in the bottle and chests. You can not only replay some of the game but also enjoy some of its media (concept art, wallpaper, videos etc...) once you are done with it. Eipix as the representative of the next-generation of casual Adventure games, Sea of Lies: Leviathan Reef Collector’s Edition and Standard Edition contains unmatched video cut scenes and will keep you overjoyed from starting to finale. What a finale it is too. I will miss this series, but know that Big Fish and Eipix are busy continuing creating New Worlds for game club members!
I recommend this game!
