This was an instabuy for me and an awesome alternative to some of the darker themed games launched recently. First there was Dreampath The Two Kingdoms an adventure that took you soaring high into a world of floating islands, talking cats, and magical dragons. Searching for a mystical cure for your sister lying on her deathbed. In this edition Boolat's Curse of the Swamps You play the role of Princess Daniela, who receives a butterfly necklace from an unknown admirer during your birthday party. As soon as you put it on, frogs fall as rain, bringing "swamp fever." Some people shrink and morph into frogs, others, like your family, the king and queen, become ill with nasty blistered boils. You are unaffected and must reach the healer for a cure. You soon learn the necklace is a magical amulet which protects you and also glows during gameplay to offer helpful inventory in your search for the cure to the curse. There is an array of colorful characters you encounter in the journey and when you meet Rowena Mistress of The Forest she gives you the backstory of this ancient curse. She also helps you discover The Lord of The Swamps and his poisonous plan. Fantasy Fans are in for a colorful quest full of unusual puzzles and unique HOS varieties. This unexpected gem meets all criteria of the similar legendary games, with diverse and delicate sound/SFX, gorgeous graphics, a perfectly written stoyline and very cool settings. Dreampath 2: Swamps Collector’s Edition has animated game reality, a charming interface, spiritual soundtracks and thrilling chapters. It took several hours from beginning to end and the bonus chapter. I am definitely a fan of this series now. These developers really know how to create a near perfect Fantasy Thriller. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

In this latest edition of Chimeras, Travel back in time to Scotland and unlock the tragedy of the Heartfell family. You meet Elizabeth and William; her Groom to be early in the adventure. Your ancestor Elizabeth is then kidnapped by a notorious bandit nicknamed "Storm." Your journey leads you back in time where you must learn who is friend or foe in order to rescue Elizabeth. Marrying Elizabeth gains control over the country. You soon learn that The Count of Heartfell (Elizabeth's father) has arranged a difficult task so his successor must prove his LOVE and WILLINGNESS to rule the country when he dies. The story takes a shocking twist when you learn of a Chimera Spell which allows a magical exchange of bodies. Reminds me a bit of the movie "Groundhog Day". It’s all about a curse that has the village reliving the same day over and over again. You somehow manage to travel back in time and become trapped in the same curse, which means that you must find a way to break it somehow. As a matter of fact, the adventure is quite engaging, but the lack of a challenge can be a bit of a bother.
Thankfully, at least there’s plenty to admire while you are aimlessly solving riddles, since the game looks gorgeous in every regard. Starting with the hand-drawn landscapes, all the way to the cut scenes and the short animations, everything looks impeccable. In the end, Chimeras: Cursed and Forgotten is a tad too easy to keep you busy for long, but at least it’s pretty and engaging when it wants to be. Hence, you can definitely fill a few afternoons with it. The CE extras are the usual and the Bonus Game is fun but doesn't add anything to the main story. I enjoyed this but it wasn't as good as previous Chimeras Series.
I recommend this game!

I love the Living Legends series and Immortal Love, and now these developers take the genre to a whole different level. Edge of Reality: Ring of Destiny is a hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of an ordinary woman who gets herself into an extraordinary situation. The gameplay mechanics are pretty much the same as in every other game in the genre, but the adventure is engaging enough to keep you distracted from this fact. Not only that, but some of the puzzles can put you to the test if you are not familiar with the usual tricks. As for the story, it all starts when the main character decides to adopt a dog and is about to take it home in her car. However, the dog (whose name is Ice) starts acting all anxious when they reach a nearby swamp, which is when she decides to let it lead her to the place in question. As it turns out, she finds a powerful ring in the water and she is transported to a different dimension once she puts it on. I was totally captivated with the story by this point which is early in the adventure. Most fantasy stories contain some kind of powerful item that can decide the fate of the entire world, given the fact that the faction with control over it is guaranteed to win the war. There’s always some kind of adventure surrounding the artifact in question, which happens to be the case with the game at hand as well, although it’s a bit more complicated than that. As always, most of your time is spent trying to figure out what items can be picked up and how can you combine them in order to unlock the way to the next area. It actually gets pretty intense after a while, and the objects you have to find are never the same. I thought the puzzles were pretty exciting, although most of them are just asking you to unlock some kind of mechanism or find a specific pattern. Things are quite decent in the graphics department, and there are even some 3D objects part of certain scenes, such as the dog in the beginning. The level of design is very engaging as well, and you can tell that a lot of work went into every scene to make them as detailed as possible. There’s even exceptional voice acting and a nice soundtrack to keep you company along the way. It's a fantastic trip to a different dimension worthy of Editor's Choice Award. Ring of Destiny may not impress players with it's puzzle quality or exciting new gameplay mechanics, but the journey and the story is definitely worth the bother, especially if you are a fan of the genre. In addition, the game world looks gorgeous, and it’s a pleasure to explore it...

I love all the editions and now Eipix presents the next installment of the much beloved Amaranthine Voyage series! You've received a distress signal from the frozen world of Corra and what a world it is. Exploring an alien world should be a great adventure, regardless of how hostile or dangerous the world in question might be and Eipix really delivers with this edition. Scify fantasy worlds are even more exciting, given the fact that they can also contain all sorts of creatures and magic artifacts. It is also possible to obtain something nice by combining the two concepts together. The main objective in this phenomenal game is to explore a frozen world and save its inhabitants. You play the role of an explorer whose task is to rescue people from different worlds and solve problems. The gameplay is standard for the genre, which means that most of the time you’ll be scouring the environments for useful items, while the rest of the time you’ll be busy solving various puzzles, some more difficult than others and the hidden object puzzles require extra brain power because you are searching for foreign items in the FAR FUTURE which are less than familiar. The story starts with a crash and an unexpected turn of events, although you should probably be familiar with the premise if you are intimate with the series. As it turns out, you end up in a frozen world called Corra, and things are not looking very well. In essence, the people of Corra are dying, and they need someone’s help in order to overcome to hardships ahead. I thought the hidden object scenes were pretty cool, especially since there are multiple mechanics working together to provide you with a much more dynamic experience. In addition, the world exploration is pretty neat as well. The puzzles are not terribly difficult, but they can make you break a light sweat if you disable the hints and you do not use the skip button. Moreover, the graphics are very detailed as well, which works wonders for the game’s atmosphere. The same goes for the voice acting and the sound effects, because they all come together to provide you with quite the experience. The EXPERIENCE is different than any of the other editions in the series. In the end, Amaranthine Voyage: Winter Neverending is well written and very original, and the puzzles are pretty unique as well, but there’s something quite cozy about the game like you are really there. Hence, if you are up for a nice experience and you do not mind the wintery feeling it evokes, this adventure will keep you busy for a while. Excellent job and worthy of the 4/5 star rating!

In the fifth episode of The Secret Order series Sarah is about to take some time off from her service when she receives news from a long seen friend, Julie who is looking for a lost land. Sarah is about to visit her when things get an unexpected turn and Sarah finds herself in the middle of a life-threatening adventure where she needs all her wittiness and expertise to save the life of her friend and defeat a group of dangerous villains. Playing the role of Sarah on her quest in The Buried Kingdom is a fantastic adventure, just like previous editions in the series of The Secret Order, a secret society sworn to protect against the Dragon clan. Julie may have found the key to a lost city, but what should be a joyous reunion takes a dark turn when she's kidnapped by unknown assailants. Only you can save her with the aid of your baby dragon side kick Droi, whom you meet shortly after arriving in the Kingdom. The special effects and the HOPA variations and puzzles were perfect, not too easy or too difficult. I thought the voice acting was perfect and the gameplay mechanics keep you playing, before you know it hours will have passed and you'll still be enjoying this epic journey! Players of every level will enjoy the combination of Fantasy and Mystery in this exciting addition to The Secret Order series. I loved it and I am a fan of the series!
The Collector's Edition includes:
● Replay your favorite mini-games and hidden-object puzzles
● Collect dragon eggs and morphing objects
● Collect wallpapers, concept art, and more!
● An integrated Strategy Guide!
● Save the Buried Kingdom from certain destruction in the bonus game!

This edition surpassed my expectations of the popular series. In Grim Facade: Monster in Disguise you play the role of a detective trying to find and stop a serial killer named Bloody Stanley. The game feels and plays like most ERS HOPAs, except this one features a much more pressing atmosphere with excellent graphics and sound/SFX. Your job is to investigate scene after scene and gather enough clues to lead you to the next area, where more PUZZLES await you. This edition of Grim Façade will be remembered for it's extraordinary puzzles. It’s important that you pay attention to every little detail too, but don’t expect too much complexion either. As such, there are a couple of areas you can interact with in every scene, and each one of these areas holds at least one valuable item. You get to choose questions to ask characters in the story. The whole thing is pretty linear, especially since there’s only one way to solve each puzzle you come across. Speaking of which, the actual puzzles are in fact mini-games you have to tackle every now and again. Even if they look differently and feature different components, the core concept of the puzzles is more or less the same, since you have to either find patterns or rearrange various jigsaws. There’s some variety later on, and the difficulty level is moderate, even for inexperienced players. I think that was a smart move on behalf of the developers.
When you learn from the inspector that they fear they have the wrong suspect in custody you really begin to feel immeresed into the story. I think the device you discover which allows you to find memory fragments once you find all of them results in a cut-scene that shows you secrets of past events relevant to the murder mystery. It adds to the overall experience of the adventure. Fans of the genre and Series will be able to truly experience the story and the location thanks to the gorgeous hand-drawn graphics. The artwork is very nice and detailed, which makes every scene look like it holds some kind of terrible secret. Moreover, the sound effects go perfectly on top of all this, not to mention the voice acting and the soundtrack. I have always been a fan of the series and Grim Facade: Monster in Disguise is a pretty strong adventure game, at least for the casual crowds out there. Hence, if you enjoy finding items and combining them to solve puzzles, this is certainly a good choice in the genre.
Players of all levels can enjoy this one, except children. The game warns you in the beginning that it contains GRAPHIC CONTENT and I loved every moment of it!!!

This was an insta-buy for me. A remarkable edition that embraces ground breaking technological advances with an extraordinary mythological story. When gods are fighting each other, mortals suffer the consequences. In Dark Romance 3: Kingdom of Death you will play the role of both mortals — Elias and Persephone. Hades had chosen Persephone, Zeus’ daughter, as a lure for her father. So he kidnaps Persephone during her betrothal with Elias! While they were changing flowers promising to marry each other, Hades changes Persephone’s flower into thorns and drags her to the Underworld, the world of Death! Poseidon, God of the Sea also has a hand in this devious plan to bring Zeus (King of the Gods) to the Underworld. Now it's up to Elias the male character to retrieve and assist Persephone in her quest. By playing both roles in this exciting adventure it adds an element of difficulty and intrigue you won't be able to get enough of. The graphics are stunning and the sound/SFX and VO's are extremely detailed. I didn't even look at the tiny text of dialogue because the lip-sync is perfection. You will also meet other famous characters from Greek Mythology as you work together to solve problems and put their romance to the ultimate test in this intriguing twist on the tale of Persephone! I think this release is a contender for 2016 Game of the Year. Good Luck and Enjoy!!!

People have always feared secret societies that control everything from the shadows, but it would seem like they are either very good at hiding themselves, or very fictional. Granted, there are some examples of what one may call exclusive clubs, and some are trying to rule the world. For me, such ideas make for very engaging books and films, not to mention video games. Your ultimate mission is to recover a powerful artifact from a villain who is robbing society of their emotions turning everyone into EMO'S who gets in the way. The Curio Society: New Order is a clever, well written hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of someone within a secret society. Granted, they are actually trying to help the world rather than hurt it, but it’s still a pretty well-guarded secret. As for the gameplay, everything is more or less the same as in every other HOPA out there, except that the PUZZLES are quite different every time. The story starts when someone steals a powerful artifact from the Curio Society, which prompts a special mission to find the object and bring it back. This item has the power to eliminate all kinds of emotion from the world, thus leaving everyone as empty and as boring as a lifeless husk. You must return the artifact before the one who stole it gets to make use of its powers, and it’s quite a long journey. A journey well worth the hours it takes to complete. Most of your time is spent jumping from scene to scene and trying to spot useful objects in the environment, objects that can be used to unlock doors or perform various other such actions. Some items can be disassembled or combined in order to obtain something else, which prompts yet more searches after that. It really engages you and you feel compelled throughout the entire adventure. You get plenty of wonderful landscapes to look at throughout the adventure, both indoors and outdoors. You can tell that a tremendous amount of work went into the environments, especially since the level of detail is so high. Granted, the cutscene animations could have been executed a little better, but that shouldn’t affect the overall experience very much. I think this series combines Great Mystery with Fun Adventure. I would give this edition more than 5*****. The Curio Society: New Order is quite able to keep you engaged for many hours, especially if you are a fan of the genre and I am definitely a fan. Thank you Big Fish for continuing this relatively new series! xox's

Within the peaceful West Indies, a growing threat appeared. From the remnants of scattered swashbucklers a powerful force rises know as The Pirate King. In this game you play as a governor's daughter who has been kidnapped by the order of the infamous evil Pirate King. While he thinks that his evil intentions are being carried our by this group, there is actually a plot against him, and you are in the middle of it.
The pirates who kidnapped you let you live, but leave you on an island full of pirates. Now you really need to be smart and witty to pretend to be one of them and help destroy the Pirate King. It is a fantastic pirate story with a lot of interesting characters. GOLD TEETH, NO FINGERS (the mechanic who builds the indestructible Waverunner ship) TERESA 'LA TORMENTA GARCIA and her brother SKYTE, and BARTHOLOMEW ROUS (the shaman pirate). You get to meet all kinds of personas, but you can not trust them all.
During your journey you are assisted by colonists Bowen and Amara who help you learn for yourself who to trust and why the Pirate King is collecting Souls. I was fascinated by this exceptional Pirate tell and very impressed with the superior graphics, sound/SFX, Voices, and soundtrack. Then there is a bonus game where you play a bit more discovering the history of the pirate's curse. The visuals of this game are absolutely wonderful - the depth of the sea or the ship cabins look great. The game is available in four modes of difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Custom. The hints (10-120 seconds) and skips (10-400 seconds) are adjustable as you would expect from this kind of game. A map is provided as you play as well as a strategy guide if you usually use one of those. Most of the game play seems to be quite easy. The hidden object scenes are going to feel quite familiar for those who have played any of the series' games before. You have a Match 3 if you are not in the mood for hidden objects. You still need to be on the look out for morphing objects, though.
The puzzles differ in their type and difficulty. Both HOP scenes (18) and puzzles (25) are up for replay. You get to earn 17 achievements and collect messages in the bottle and chests. You can not only replay some of the game but also enjoy some of its media (concept art, wallpaper, videos etc...) once you are done with it. Eipix as the representative of the next-generation of casual Adventure games, Sea of Lies: Leviathan Reef Collector’s Edition contains unmatched video cut scenes and will keep you overjoyed from starting to finale. What a finale it is too. I will miss this series, but know that Big Fish and Eipix are busy continuing creating New Worlds for game club members!

I am a really big fan of ERS games and their unique stylized, unconventional design of the games they release. I do realize that not everyone appreciates these details and themes. At Deaths Door follows the same format as previous editions of Redemption Cemetery including 3 stories in one by giving players an opportunity to transport via supernatural portals and access each story. In this installment after strange attack on your night cab you found yourself locked at the cemetery and surrounded by tormented spirits! Your quest is to help each of the 3 people in the story in the afterlife and save their souls. The catch that makes you want to continue playing is the Cemetery Keeper and the Protagonist who is set on destroying the worlds borders of life and afterlife in an attempt to rule both for eternity. The gameplay mechanics are not cutting edge and neither are the puzzles. The journey however is, and there are some great graphics and "SPOOKY GOTCHA" moments. The voice overs and sound/SFX as well as cut-scenes have also been ramped up a notch or two. The Bonus game is a prelude of sorts to the main game but provides answers to left over questions you have once the main game has concluded. I would demo this one to see if it's worth your interest and money spent. I think it deserves the 4/5 star rating and players of every level can enjoy.
I recommend this game!
