Based on the completed Standard Edition. I played the hour trial of this game, before I decided to buy it, and I have to say the the first hour is the best of the game, as it becomes somewhat silly after that. The reason that I have given this game such a low rating, is the shockingly abrupt ending, like being slammed head first into a wall. I'm sure the Collector's Edition finishes the story, but the Standard Edition just stops. If the game had been better, I might have considered buying the Collector's Edition, to find out how everything turned out, but as I have said, after the first hour, I became annoyed and frustrated with the nonsensical clues. All in all a very disappointing game.
What a ridiculous game. The voice over's are annoying. The gangster character is more clownish than scary. The Hidden Object scenes were OK, but the puzzles were very irritating, and what made it worse, you couldn't skip them, and unless you figured the puzzles out, you couldn't progress. I was unable to finish the game, because, even with the help of the walkthrough, I couldn't get the final puzzle to work. I play Hidden Object games for fun, and to relax, but if that's what you're looking for, don't get this game. Stress, Stress, Stress!
I have only played the hour trial, but I thought this game was quite good, and will probably buy it. I took a look at the other game in the series of Dark Canvas: A Brush With Death, and after an hour, still hadn't got off the dock. This one is more sensible, and I was able to figure out what to do next, without constantly referring to the hints button. The graphics are wonderful, and that extends to the Hidden Object games. When I first came across it, I wondered what I was supposed to do with the kitten, but he/she proved extremely useful. I never play the music, and if possible I get rid of the custom cursor, which in my opinion tend to be inaccurate and sluggish. I like the story in this game, and I love the Hidden Object games. I find the puzzles in any Hidden Object game annoying, but they will insist on including them. (If I wanted to play Puzzles, I would look at the Puzzles list) The objects found in the Hidden Object games, make sense, as they lead you through the game, and this makes it pleasant to play, instead of straining my brain. Overall, I enjoyed the hour, and will update this review when I complete the whole game.
I have played both the Standard Edition, and have just finished playing the Collector's Edition, of House of 1000 Doors: Family Secrets, and I have to say the Collector's Edition was a bit of a disappointment, and I feel slightly cheated. Not the game itself, which I love, but the abrupt, unsatisfying ending. This and the other House of 1000 Doors games are among my favorite Hidden Object games, and I have purchased both the Standard and the Collector's Edition of each one, and think they are fantastic. I love the stories, and the games are beautifully done, with clear graphic, unlike some games, where the rest of the game is great, but when you reach a Hidden Object Game, the artwork is so blurry and indistinct, you can barely recognize a dog as a dog. I never have the music playing I find it annoying and distracting, so I can't comment on that, but I love the story line. Having played House of 1000 Door: Serpent Flame, Collector's Edition, and absolutely loving it, I expected something similar from this game, but the ending, or in my opinion lack of an ending, meant I am less enthused about this game. If I had stuck to the Standard Edition, and not played the Collector's Edition, I would have given 5 stars, but this one only rates a 3.5, (I gave four, because I couldn't bring myself to give it 3, but there isn't a half score). I really hope there will be more 1000 Door's games, as I think they are wonderful. But I will stick to the Standard Editions in future
I love these games. I'm fairly new to Hidden Object Quest games, and some of them are just too complicated to be fun, but the three 1000 Doors games are super. They remind me of the Sacra Terra games, and they are my favorites. They are just challenging enough that you can get to next stage, but not so easy that you sail through it. I hope they bring out more like these 1000 Doors games, and Sacra Terra games. Thanks.
I am fairly new to this type of Hidden Object game, having only played the straight forward Hidden Object games, where you just find objects, with no story, or ultimate objective involved. I purchased this game in a sale, and after a few false starts, found it really compelling, and addictive. I love the fact that you need to complete a task in order to advance in the game, and the fact that this game makes that process fun, and interesting. I found the story line fascinating, and the graphics very well done, making everything clear. Some of the objects were difficult to find, but that is the whole point, ("Hidden" Object). As a result of my enjoying this game so much, I have now purchased the second in the series, "Kiss of Death", and I enjoyed that one just as much. I have now become a real fan of Hidden Object Quest games, and have bought several more, some as good as this one, some not as good, but this remains my favorite. I do hope the developers of this game, continue this series. Well Done.
It may just be me being really stupid, but I found this game so difficult, I didn't even get through the trial. I was at a total loss as to where to go, or what I was supposed to achieve. I am so glad I decided to play the trial, before throwing my money away on this ball of confusion. I play game to relax, not to give me a headache, which is what I got, trying to figure this one out.
I don't recommend this game.

Feeding Frenzy
Only the big survive this deep-sea challenge! Eat your way up the food chain in your quest to unseat the Shark King!
I have already played "Feeding Frenzy 2", and I love that game, and I had hoped that the first version of the game might be as good, but unfortunately I found it amateurish and crude by comparison. The graphics were very poor, and the animation sluggish. Even if you were right on top of the fish you were trying to catch, you couldn't eat it, as the program seems to be slow to catch up with what you are doing. Overall, not nearly as good as the second version. Disappointing.
