This is a time management game that I wish other developers would learn from. It really is just that good.
The graphics are detailed, crisp, and clever. The music is pleasant enough to listen to on it's own and it enhances the game. Atmospheric sounds fit the theme and are well done.
Gameplay consists of having your worker collect various resources and then use those resources to build structures that collect more resources or provide a special worker type needed to fulfill tasks.
You can queue tasks for the workers which is a sort of double edged sword...you have to think about what you're doing. There are power ups which also need to be used strategically. Each level is like a puzzle that has several solutions but no matter which solution you pursue you're going to have to think it out a little.
I wanted to get three stars for each level on timed mode and this often required at least a couple tries on some of the levels.
This game is challenging but it isn't challenging because it's a click-fest. It's a well designed time management puzzle that's definitely worth playing to the end. I'm hoping there will be a Northern Tale 5 because I really enjoyed this one.
I recommend this game!

The graphics are cartoonish but acceptable. The music is pleasant and fits the theme. The big problem is that you can't queue tasks for your workers and when you try to click anything while the workers are busy they keep saying "there's a problem here". I heard that far too many times for me to want to buy this game.
Yes...there is a problem here. It's just not fun playing a game when you can't queue actions for the workers. It's utterly ridiculous and completely unappealing. I will not buy a game of this kind if the developer can't be bothered to make a game where I can think ahead and get tasks queued. If I can't it makes the game boring, tedious, and stupid. All I have to do is watch the screen and click...there is no thinking or planning involved.
Unfortunately this game has no queue. It is boring, tedious, and stupid. Developer get a queue please!
I don't recommend this game.

The graphics are clear and you have a good view of your workers as they go about their tasks. The music is repetitive but not unpleasant.
It's a typical gather resources and build structures game but you have plenty of different tasks to do and periodically you're surprised by attacks from mercenaries and trolls. Part of the area you're in is often hidden until you unlock it by paying a wizard to work his magic and open it up. There are also areas where you have to trade for the resources you need to move ahead rather than building a structure that supplies it. These features make for a game where you have to think about what to build and when to build it.
You can queue up tasks and when you want to upgrade something it takes only a single click. Both of these are features that improve game play significantly over many other games in this genre in my opinion.
My only real complaint is that the game is a little bit short. Overall though this game is well ahead of most in the TM genre and I really enjoyed it.
I recommend this game!

The graphics are clear but the workers and items that need clearing from your path are far too small. The music is annoying and repetitive but at least you can shut it off.
The tasks are few and the game has a lot of sitting there waiting for gold accumulation built in. You can use that time to look for the glinting on the screen that indicates a hidden treasure.
The game moves along at slow motion pace even in the challenging mode. I spent most of the time playing this game sitting there tapping my fingers while waiting for something that I could click on to make the game move forward.
While it isn't as bad as some TM games I've played it certainly isn't much fun. Playing it is sort of like watching paint peel. You know the paint shaving will eventually fall to the floor but when it happens you've waited so long that it isn't particularly riveting when it does.
I don't recommend this game.

The game is a little older but the graphics have stood up well.
The story is different than most and kept my interest.
Gameplay involves mostly hidden object scenes and they were moderately challenging.
Overall this is a fun game. I purchased it after doing the demo and enjoyed it all the way to the end.
I recommend this game!

This game cannot stand up to newer TM games and was very tedious. It's very slow and you cannot queue the actions of your workers.
The graphics aren't great and there aren't many tasks...it's very linear. I didn't enjoy it at all.
I don't recommend this game.

This game has outdated graphics and does not allow you to queue actions. It also has this non-stop tutorial thing at the start which is really annoying. It leads you along one step at a time which sort of blows the whole idea of creating a strategy away. I managed about 10 minutes and had to quit...it's truly awful.
If you're looking for a good game in this genre try the Gardens, Inc series or Kingdom Chronicles.
I don't recommend this game.

The graphics are somewhat grainy and the atmospheric sounds are irritating and repetitive. Nails scratching on a chalkboard type sounds.
Gameplay consists of wondering what to do mixed with annoyingly slow "interactive" HOS. In the HOS you click on something so you can watch a very simple thing like a candle being lit in painfully slow slow-motion.
This isn't a game...it's agony. Do yourself a favor and skip it. It really is that bad.
I don't recommend this game.

The visuals are acceptable but nothing special. The music is little Christmas songs over and over. The voice overs are bizarre.
Right at the beginning there is a ghost that, from her dress, hair, and shoes is a girl, but she speaks with a deep male voice. It was just odd in a family Christmas story. I'm fine with transgender people but I think this isn't something most people expect from a Christmas HOPA.
The game does not function well. It is very difficult to close pop up boxes.
The HOS are poorly done with items that are completely concealed. It's fine to make an item partially hidden but to completely conceal it is just annoying.
Overall, this game isn't well made. It has some features that are very strange and/or non-functional.
I don't recommend this game.
