fromI'm going to keep my eye on the sky, just in case I see some of those huge robotic creatures coming down getting ready to invade the Great State of Ohio!
This is not one of my typical type games that I usually like or even play, but I wanted to try it out, just the same. Here are my pros and cons:
PROS:
1. Great graphics. Colors fit each scene appropriately (withholding pastels, as this is definitely not a fantasy/fairy-tale game). 2. Good voiceovers with lip movement that fit the voice as well. 3. Music was good, although there was one particular scene where the music seemed more upbeat that didn't quite fit what was happening. 4. The storyline was good, although I haven't played any previous games from this series. 5. Interesting and challenging puzzles that weren't overwhelmingly hard or difficult, but seemed 'just right', IMO. 6. HOS's that were fun to play that offered a mixed bag of what all of us seasoned gamers are use to playing, but like them, nonetheless.
CONS:
1. The different 'magical' arrows that were in this game, didn't seem to function as I think they should. I had some difficulty aiming or just getting them to hit the appropriate target. But then again, it was probably just ME, as I've never personally, shot an arrow at anything in my life before this :) 2. The demo ended way too soon. I wanted to go on and on just to see what was going to happen next.
All in all, give this game a try, even for those of you who don't particularly 'like' this type of genre (as myself feel). You might be surprised and find out that you might just like it.
I recommend this game!

Nightmares from the Deep: Davy Jones
Escape the cold incarceration of Davy Jones' brig and discover the otherworldly origins of his galleon in this thrilling Hidden Object adventure!
I purchased this exciting game on a Daily Deal and what a bargain I found! I don't typically like the pirate genre, but this game has everything.
1. Great graphics. 2. Crisp, clear cutscenes. 3. Suspenseful music that fits each scene perfectly. 4. A combination of HOS (interactive, fragments) that are interesting, and not your 'typical' HOS. You also have the option of playing a Mahjongg game if you don't want to play the HOS, but I didn't even pursue it, as the HOS were enough of a challenge for me. 5. A great storyline that adds a lot to any game. Without a good storyline, you don't have a good game, IMO. 6. Interesting and challenging mini-puzzles that weren't terribly difficult, but still gave you enough of a challenge.
I would recommend trying the demo. Even if this game wasn't offered in a Daily Deal, I would pay the full price, as this game is definitely worth the money.
I was offered to play this game months ago and was wondering how long it would take for it to be released. I am glad that it has finally surfaced, as I have every 'Fear For Sale' game and will be adding this one to my collection as well. It's innovative, compelling, and lives up to the previous ones, though not quite as good as Phantom Tide, Endless Voyage, or The House on Black River (IMO).
PROS:
1. An interactive map that shows whether you've collected the morphing objects/collectibles or not. 2. Music is interesting and fits each scene appropriately. 3. Good voice overs. 4. Within each scene, most of the objects are interactive when you click on them. 5. Interesting HOS. 6. The morphing objects etc., were sometimes hard to locate (which I think is a +. We all want a 'challenge', right?) 7. Just the right amount of FEAR.
CONS:
1. The puzzles/mini-games could perhaps be a little bit more challenging (although I'm not a fan of either). 2. Some of the cutscenes weren't as clear as I'd like to see. 3. The storyline is a bit confusing (at least to me)
All in all, if you're a fan of any of the 'Fear for Sale' games, please check this one out as well. It will probably take a place in your library/collection.
AFTER COMPLETING ONLY 20 (WILD AND EXCITING) MINS OF DEMO:
WOW! I've only played 20 mins of this new game and just HAD to stop and give my review. Here is a synopsis of my gameplay thus far:
1. A good opening scene (which I think is essential is gaining our interest). A young woman is having a nightmare of fire and impending doom. She seeks out your help to find out the cause. (It seems as if she's being haunted by the last remaining witch who has to take possession of her in order to seek revenge for being burned alive many years ago). 2. The music was exciting and catchy, thus adding more intrigue. 3. Your typical choices of what mode you wish to play. I found the CUSTOM mode (which most players choose) to be simple, yet right to the point. 4. Good voiceovers with appropriate lip movement.
Now we get right into the game. Here is what I found to be interesting:
Your first mini-game is a slider game, where you have to move different small squares out of the way of a zipper, which opens up the woman's suitcase. Most of the mini-games I noticed (in only 20 mins of gameplay, there were at least 3-4) you could choose whether you wanted an easy or hard way to solve.
You get a pair of 'psychic' glasses that take you to a PAST event that has happened in that particular scene that you are currently in.
COLLECTIONS (In the first 20 mins only):
36 tarot cards (throughout the game) Dragon device parts that will be used later on in the Torture Chamber (sounds scary, right?)
ACHIEVEMENTS: Check with the other reviewers who like to give the specifics on achievements, morphing objects, collections, wallpapers, concept art, and music tracks for this game.
The HOS were interesting. There is one that when you click on it (the sparkles), a skeleton appears, but then his bones break apart, and you have to find three different objects. Once these are found, then you get a list of items that you need to find. (The background, though, was a dark, grainy color of gray, which made it somewhat difficult to find the items).
**You do get the choice of playing a Match 3 game, but I found that this game took forever, IMO. There are three light posts, and you have to light them up,by playing the match 3**
All in all, this is perhaps the most exciting, fun-filled game I've seen in quite a while. Like I've mentioned in the past, I don't usually purchase CE games, as I don't need the extras, but as soon as I finish this review, I'm heading into my wallet and buying this game, after only playing for 20 mins. That's how much I know that I will love every aspect of it, and I think you will enjoy it as well.
I 'highly' recommend this game. Give it a try, and see if you don't agree :)
This is a rather 'strange' game, but fun nonetheless. Here are the highlights:
1. A transporter map (but it's not available right away). 2. Easy and fun puzzles. 3. Interesting HOS: storybook-type HOS that we've seen before, but this seem to take it a step further by adding more pages of a book, thus giving you more of the background of the story. 4. The voices used for this game were nice and appropriate: nice and distinct.
Here are the lowlights of the game:
1. The cutscenes weren't clear at all. Colors were grainy in appearance and somewhat blurry. 2. No lip movement from the various characters. You heard the voiceovers, but the lips did not move. 3. A rather simple game, not much of a challenge. 4. An extremely EASY ability to locate the HUGE wine glasses that you need to collect.
All in all, this isn't that bad of a game, if you're looking for something laid back with an easy flow to it. But if you're looking for something with a challenge, then you might just want to skip this one.
However, I recommend this game, as I oftentimes want just that: Something to play to immerse myself in, to escape reality, if only for awhile :)
1. An interesting and intriguing storyline. 2. A transporter map. 3. Interesting HOS, although on the dark side (in relation to the color palette used). The first HOS was somewhat different. Instead of finding objects, you are given a list of numbers to find, thus leading you to various objects that you need. 4. The puzzles weren't very hard, at least as far as what I came across. 5. I felt the music inappropriate for certain scenes. It was oftentimes fast when the scene called for more of a subdued tone. 6. The game/storyline had an edge to it that I found nice. It is a mystery, after all, so giving it that extra 'OOMPH' (can't think of what word I want to use) adds to the overall gaming experience.
All in all, if you're a fan of the 'Dead Reckoning' series, check this game out. Enjoy.
This is another fantastic Dark Parable game, but I will have to pass until the SE comes out. I don't necessarily have to have all of the bells & whistles.
It starts out with a young man in a cloak (all you see is his smirk of a smile), as he holds a magical object and continuously catches the forest on fire. He then makes his escape, and it is your job as the 'detective' to find out who he is, and what his motives are.
This game has:
1. An interactive map. 2. Many frog-related HOS, which I found that some of the items were difficult to see as the scenes were dark and drab in color (Thus the name: Dark Parable). 3. Many interesting, and sometimes complex puzzles, but enjoyable, just the same. 4. Sometimes you have to interact with somewhat 'magical, robotic' creatures (?) that you have to defeat in order to obtain entry into certain rooms. 5. The music is very scene appropriate. 6. Some of the cutscenes weren't as clear and concise as I would like to see.
This game has your usual achievements, collectibles, etc.that other reviewers can enlighten you with. It is filled with excitement and a good storyline. The only negative thing that I can say about it, is that there seems to be a lot of switching back and forth between scenes in order to get what tool/object, you need to proceed further into the game. Without the map, you would definitely be lost and not know what to do.
When a famous shapeshifting alchemist is charged with looking into the murder of the king's most trusted agent and friend, the last thing she expects to discover is an intricate network of shadowy criminals, intent on bringing chaos to the land.
From the introduction of this new and exciting game, I knew it was an instant buy for me, and I don't buy many CE games. Here's what I like about the game so far:
1. The colors and graphics are the best I've seen in awhile. Each scene is picture perfect with everything crisp, clear, and concise. 2. The initial cutscene draws you in instantly with the wolf chasing the young girl. 3. An interactive map that is provided for you at the beginning of the game. 4. For those of you who like to put ingredients together to make a potion, this game is perfect for you. These potions give you the ability to fly and to shape-shift into various animals. 5. Interesting HOS and fun mini-games.
Please check out the demo, as you might find that you like this game just as much as I did. Enjoy :)
** Please check out the forum as the developer of this game has offered anyone a chance to give him your opinion (s) of what you like or dislike about this game. It's too bad that other developers don't take the initiative and do the same for other games.
BASED ON 30 MINUTES OF PLAYING THE DEMO (I COULDN'T PLAY ANY LONGER THAN THIS):
I have to say that the WARNING that is given at the beginning of the game, even before you sign your name, (which incidentally is written in BLOOD), is right on point! From the two puppets that swing down letting you choose a MALE or FEMALE character, to the skeleton hands shuffling the cards, letting you also choose what your character will look like, gives you a little idea just how creepy this game is going to be.
EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT THIS GAME IS EXTREMELY SPOOKY, SCARY, AND FLAT OUT CREEPY!
I won't go into the story line as other reviewers have covered that already. Here is my opinion on the brief (yet unsettling) time I spent on this game:
1. The cut scenes weren't as clear. 2. The music was appropriate for this type of game. 3. The colors fit the game nicely (dark, drab, and colorless). 4. A transporter map given at the beginning of the game (even the map was on the creepy side, showing two puppets hanging from a tree, while the bad guys point at them, while wearing their eerie-looking masks). 5. The HOS were difficult, IMHO. It was difficult to see what exactly I was suppose to be doing. I found myself using the HINT button, more than I like to use it. The scene where you have to find the parts of the robotic cat (which is your HELPER, BTW, and he isn't your 'typical' cat either) was difficult for me to figure out (at first), and I don't usually have problems with HOS in most games.
This definitely isn't my type of game, but for those of you who like the creepy, the disemboweled eyeballs, or body parts, or headless dolls, THIS GAME IS JUST PERFECT FOR YOU!. Enjoy........................IF YOU DARE!!
An exciting addition to the 'Reflections of Life' series:
1. Full of intrigue and non-stop suspense (A true cloak-and-dagger type of game). 2. An interactive map that shows if you've got things to complete and then closes the scene. 3. Interactive HOS, that seems somehow a little different than what we are used to. Some of them are not as easy to solve, but this adds more of a challenge, IMO. 4. Graphics were very distinct and crisp. 5. Music added just the right touch of flavor.
I recommend this game, but like everyone else has said many many times: try it for yourself. Be adventurous.
