I enjoyed the whole ambience of this game, especially the luxurious first class dining car, and of course the mega-ton of HOPS.

You get lighthouse with moody skies, caves and mines, island and home. Some lovely, artistic touches. A simple and solid game. I liked the characters you come across, that you must help.
I recommend this game!

(2016 game) REVIEW BASED ON COMPLETION OF MAIN GAME AND BONUS GAME. Just when I thought 2016 games couldn't get any more mechanical or souless, we have this action-packed, miserable game, with indoor settings of hospital and prison which are utterly dilapidated - and not in a good way. You are outside to begin with and around mid-way again. The characters are deranged, and I couldn't stand them so much so, that I used the skip button on cut-scenes (just a few seconds of their conversation was enough to get the gist). The ONLY thing I truly enjoyed about this game was the PUZZLES. The game does improve a little midway, perhaps the change of scene helps.
Maybe the die-hard Mystery Trackers' fans will still approve.
HOPS - 6 and an extra 3 in the Bonus Game (The HOPS in the Bonus actually look nice!)
PUZZLES: About 12, with an extra 2 in the Bonus Game. Thank goodness for these! Mid-difficulty.
SOUNDS - with 4 adjustments. Pleasant, appropriate and atmospheric. Music is suitable and totally separate.
MAP: TRAVEL
JOURNAL: NONE
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 4 interchangeable
HINT: Guides and leads you.
INVENTORY - Lockable
CHARACTERS: Unpleasant, but not in a fascinating way, just unpleasant and creepy.
Please let 2017 games have more thought put into them, for the characters, the artwork, and meaning of the story. Games from 2012 were better! What's happening to current games?

Loved this! What a surprise. Moody, artsy graphics. In places we get Salvidor Dali/Tim Burton/Dr Seuss weird wonderfulness. Occasional subtle sense of humor here and there. Travel from your normal existence to nonsensical land, a strange building full of doors, a tree hide-out, a land of boarded up, gray, abandoned dwellings...The skies are dark and angry. Very laid-back and relaxing. Nothing like most 2016 games.
STORY - Unfulfilled dreams and desires ...are the chains that bind you to this world! Will you manage to escape? Or are you going to be in this nightmare FOREVER!..........................Forever!.....Forever!......................
GRAPHICS -Not colorful. Graphics are grays, browns and neutral. Just so you know, I had to set my computer to full brightness and it was still a little on the dark side, and my computer gets pretty bright. Fullscreen, widescreen, and windowed.
HOPS - 11-12 wordlists with 1 or 2 items extra hidden
PUZZLES: All skippable.
SOUNDS - 2 Sound & Music. Pleasant, appropriate and atmospheric. Music is suitable and totally separate.
MAP: NONE
JOURNAL: NONE
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 2 , NOT interchangeable
HINT: 20 seconds to recharge on Casual, and 60 seconds to recharge on Expert. Guides and leads you, and there's a walkthrough available from BFG.
INVENTORY - Lockable
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction

This is not your action-packed game of 2016 with endless cut-scenes. This is a nature-filled quest, with great artwork. You will get to venture to 4 different lands to obtain various items to complete a search for a special ring that will remove a curse.
If you play on Expert, you'll be glad that there are zero sparkles, although you will get some verbal clues if you use a hint, and a circling of an item in the scene.
STORY - 1. Stunning coastal waters/lake, with castle 2. Mesmerizing woodland cottage with vegetable patch, cow and chickens and stream (loved this, and wanted to live here), 3) a town 4) lost gardens with cave, waterfall and cemetary. Of course, I liked 1. 2. and 4. best.
GRAPHICS - Stunning in places. Disney-like in some places, and at other times like a painting, but a mix in general. Only Full Screen or windowed (not wide). Option to adjust BRIGHTNESS.
Some of the fragmented objects to collect are pretty blended in, and I had to get closer to the screen momentarily, so I wouldn't recommend this game for anyone with eye struggles.
HOPS - i) FRAGMENTED OBJECTS - 15 or more - where an object fragments across the entire scene.
ii) 5 or 6 typical wordlist HOPS.
iii) GOLD COINS ( 3 - 4) must be collected from each scene. A tally, middle-top of screen, shows how many you must find and how many are left. You MUST find them. If you don't hints will be used for this purpose too.
PUZZLES: A handful. All skippable. About 2 puzzles didn't seem to work for me.
SOUNDS -2 : Music & Sound. Music is suitable and totally separate. The sound is everything else unfortunately. I did find the mouse-click action effects a bit loud in comparison to the ambient sounds. But overrall ambience was ok.
MAP: YES - TRAVEL. Interestingly, one of the coins you select in the scene activates the ability to travel to this scene. Didn't see any map
indicators. But I played on Expert, so maybe there were on Casual.
JOURNAL: NONE, but the number of tasks for each scene are listed at the top of the screen.
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 2- Casual / Hard. NOT interchangeable.
HINT: 40 seconds to recharge on Casual, and longer on Expert. I played on Expert, so not sure how much leading you get on Casual. There IS a WALKTHOUGH AVAILABLE FROM BFG.
INVENTORY - Visible AT ALL TIMES.
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. Appropriate voices when they occur. Not big on characters or character action.
I recommend this game!

Get really close up to giant, mechanical, steam-punk machinery, and watch components and tubes towering away into the distance. Lovely! It's nice to feel really small, surrounded by vast spaciousness. Clear, realistic graphics accompanying the unrealistic, airy, fantastical settings! Collect glass shards from 3 worlds, and escape back to your own in the 4th.
STORY - World 1-Steampunk. World 2-Glorious, lightfilled and breezy, watery, nature-kingdom. World 3 - Asia and dragon statues, more water. World 4. Medieval-looking Persian kingdom.
GRAPHICS - A mix, but all good and clear and appealing. Obviously where different landscapes are used, different techniques have been applied to create each world, and so they're slightly different from region to region. The steam-punk world is super sleek and sharp!
HOPS -12-15 FROGS ie fragmented parts of objects must be found. Once found, they compile themselves into an item, which can then be used. Mainly useful items to be used in the scene.
PUZZLES: A good handful and all skippable.
SOUNDS - with 3 adjustments. Music is suitable and totally separate.
MAP: NONE
JOURNAL: YES
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 3 interchangeable. Although the beginning choices have a selection of Casual or Advanced, when you go to options later, there is also a Custom setting.
HINT: Guides and leads you
INVENTORY - Remains visible at all times
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. You can mute any voice if it starts to become annoying. You'll get a "menacing" voice of the main character trying to destroy worlds, that occurs as you transition from worlds and make progress. A strange owl that's had too much caffeine, and a quirky
upbeat Hummingbird (the last two are only for moments though).
I recommend this game!

Roam around various places, sometimes indoor, sometimes outdoors. A very relaxing journey.
GRAPHICS - I liked them! There was a dreamy, soft quality (not blurred), along with great shading. Windowed & Full Screen. Widescreen on my computer had that stretched look, so I was happy to play in Full Screen. Good visibility.
HOPS - 17 -straightforward wordlists with 1 - 3 extra hidden. On the whole, objects have excellent visibility.
PUZZLES: A handful, enjoyable & all skippable
SOUNDS - with 3 adjustments. Pleasant, appropriate and atmospheric. Music is tied in with background sounds unfortunately, but the music is fairly unobstrusive and in many places truly enchanting. I think it helped that the effects sounds were significantly higher than the music, so that although they were tied together, I could keep the music low.

To be honest, I love these kinds of graphics, they're super clear without being cartoony. Certainly not 2016 type and yes, it's true they're Full Screen or windowed only, but they're more on the realistic side than anything else, and I like that for a change.
An excellent game for anyone who plays Expert, because there are no sparkles in that category, only minimal black-bar comments AND you can change difficulty back to an easier setting, if you need to.
STORY - You get: docks, treehouse complex, leaves, bark, moss, skies, more leaves and bark, seas, ship and volcanic land. There enough story to carry it through, but really
it's a HOPS game anywyay. Just when you've really had enough of the tree houses complex (travel map is helpful here!), the chapter changes to ship and then volcanic area.
GRAPHICS - Not your 2016 graphics. But I find them very pleasant and enjoyable - SEE ABOVE.
HOPS - 30-33. Some silouhettes, but mainly wordlists with 1 or 2 items hidden. My favorite HOPS was in the Admiral's cabin - a lot of real looking stuff - it just looked nice - and gave me that hypnotized, "I'm a bird that collects shiny things and here are my treasures" feeling - know what I mean?
PUZZLES: All skippable. A few.
SOUNDS - 3 adjustments. Pleasant, appropriate. Music is suitable and totally separate.
MAP: TRAVEL - and THANK GOODNESS! Because you will be up and down that tree house...a lot.
JOURNAL: YES
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 3 & interchangeable.
HINT: Recharges after about 15 seconds on Casual. Guides and leads you.
INVENTORY - lockable
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction
I recommend this game!

Nestling amongst everyday objects, we have silks and satins, iced cookies and jewelry, fruits and embroidery, tassels and ornnaments and flowers all blending together into one glorious visual...; a feast for the eyes. All objects are clearly visible.
We get to roam around puddle strewn cobbles, with wisps of fog trailing our footsteps, townsquares with towering architecture of magnificence in Europe, train stations covered in shiny granite flooring, industrial-age architechture and endless spaciousness. A jaunt into the underground sewers had me feeling like cave explorer because of the quality of the sound and graphics and clever use of light.
Wonderfully enjoyable. - Great graphics and a great story. This is the first 2016 game in a long time that I've enjoyed playing and wanted to write a review on. No scooby-doo type action or antics or comic-book scenarios.
# Not scary or disturbing either. #
I like to play a huge mix of games and I like the fact that they're all a bit different.
STORY - has a consistent flow and an edge of creating interest, that keeps me wanting to play more and find out more.
GRAPHICS - and the artwork is so much nicer than many games.Full screen or widescreen. Color, depth, perspective, and good use of lighting and shadows creates enjoyable to be in scenes.
HOPS - 18-20 - LOVELY to look at and the items used are often REAL looking. ITEMS ARE CLEARLY VISIBLE. These kinds of HOPS almost have a hypnotic effect on me
PUZZLES: are not that easy in places. All skippable. SOUNDS - with 4 adjustments. Pleasant, appropriate and atmospheric. Music is suitable and totally separate.
MAP: TRAVEL
JOURNAL: NONE
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS - 4 interchangeable
HINT: Guides and leads you, and there's a walkthrough available from BFG

I almost didn't play this game because of the reviews and because the last game of this series wasn't my cup of tea. However, this game IS absolutely worth playing, and definitely whisked me away. It was the selection of cutscenes shown that made me give it a go. I liked the fact that to remove blurs in the time-field, you use a special crystal instead of any clock.
Incidently, you can skip the song at the beginning by hitting the "skip" in in upper right corner ;)
I recommend this game!

I found this game to be the best of the Midnight Mysteries so far! I was gripped by the main characters of Abraham Lincoln and Jesse James. The graphics were great - I liked the quality of them. The feel of the story is not comic book fantasy, but deeper and scarier in the sense of you can almost believe it. Well, that’s how I felt!
GRAPHICS: Wide screen or full screen.
SOUND: Only two: Music and Sound.
HOPS: 12-15 Straightforward word lists with some hidden objects requiring further interaction.
PUZZLES: 10 or so. Mixed ability. All skippable.
DIFFICULTIES: 3 - Casual, Advanced, Expert
HINT: Guides and leads you. There are no sparkles on Expert, but you still get a hint, even though it takes a while to charge 1-2mins.
JOURNAL: Yes, to which you must refer occasionally for stored clues.
MAP: Not required since the game is chaptered. But there is some sort of map. Never used it.
INVENTORY: Was it lockable? Hmmm…..
CHARACTERS: Really good voice-overs.
I recommend this game!
