I played all the games of the Mystery of the Ancients CE's. These were my first games and I adored them: the plots, graphics, HOGs and mini games were great. I have just finished playing Mystery of the Ancients: Mud Water Creek CE. I was greatly disappointed to say the least: first of all, the game is short: I have finished it in few hours! It was weird to play without any background music as well. But when I got to the butcher's room I was on the point of deleting the game: gory items and corpses, What did annoy me most was having to play one and the same game each time I encountered a new ghost. I am not a fan of destroying skulls especially when there is a time limit. Nevertheless I finished it. I do hope MariaGlorum will come up with another game on a par with the former Mystery of the Ancients series.
This weekend due to huge sales I bought 4 SE games. I didn't even play demos of some games. Big mistake! As a result I deleted 3 of the purchased games after playing less than an hour: blurry graphics, especially in my favourite HOGs. Puzzles also left much to be desired. So I was left with only one SE at the cost of 2 CE's: Dark Parables: Rise of the Snow Queen. I am partial to frozen beauties, blizzards and ice palaces. Usually the graphics is clear and lifelike. Alas, not in this case: the characters are cartoon parodies which remain in the same position like in some of mini games. The animals are pretty good though. What did annoy me most is not knowing what to do. There was a map but it was absolutely useless as it had no teleportal and only blinked. There were few places to explore and having run out of chances, I resorted to Hint. The only hint I got was: 'there is nothing to do in this place".
When I bought the Myths of the World: Black Rose I was really happy as I did enjoy playing all the other games of the series. Big mistake: I didn't like anything in the game: the plot is nonexistent as it were, the graphics is poor especially in HOGs. I never ever use Hint while playing them but in this case I had to rely on it. I was so disappointed that deleted the game from my PC. I love playing EIPIX games but this one is not worth buying and playing.
First of all I want to say that I have never ever seen such gorgeous graphics and vibrant colors as well as attention to minute details. If you look at the statue at the beginning of the game attentively you will see light effect and the marble seems absolutely real. I prefer playing HOS games: I love looking for items and finding them. Once I have read in one review that some HOGs imply domino effect: you are to find the object and use it so as to find another. This game has a peculiar HOS as well along with the ordinary one: I would call it streetlight effect. For instance: you are to find an apple but you can see a tomato blinking slightly. In some seconds it turns into an apple or whatever. There are lots of HOS and I played practically all of them without hints. Mini games are another story altogether: what did annoy me was the time required to load SKIP. And some of them are very hard and take too much time to solve. But in spite of it I do recommend the game.
When I played the first game from the Grim Facade Series: Mystery of Venice I enjoyed it very much. Then I bought another game from the series: Hidden Sins and I loved it as well. Then I made up my mind to buy Grim Facade: the Artist and the Pretender and trial played it. Search me if I know why it didn't win my heart. Because right now I am playing the bonus game and enjoying it as much as the game itself. It is not only beautiful, it is educational as well: as we get to know Leonardo's inventions while solving some of the puzzles and see his most famous heritage during the play. The graphics, the colors and HOS are great. I was sorry when I finished it.
I have just finished playing Myths of the World: Spirit Wolf. I loved Chinese Healer and expected something of the kind. It was a challenge for me at first and I abused hints many a time. But then it became easier and I did enjoy playing the game. I take off my hat to the Eipix team for their imagination and creativity (equal only to J.K.Rowlins) to say nothing of the atmosphere and graphics.I look forward to more games of the Myths of the World series. PS The only drawback is it is unputdownable.
I have just finished playing Christmas Stories- Nutcracker Collector's Edition. Actually I bought it for my kids. But when I began to play it they didn't stand a chance. I love "Nutckracker' ballet and I want to express deep gratitude to the creators of the game. The graphics, games, puzzles are incomparable to say nothing of Tchaikovsky music!. OK, sometimes you find yourself in a fix as there are too many scenes to explore. But the hints are very useful and you can proceed enjoying the game. Six stars to the game!!!!
