I liked the storyline, the genre (1940's style) the graphics, the sound effects and the atmosphere. Nice cinematics too, infrequent enough not to break up the story or bore you silly, yet just enough to keep the story going at a good pace. I wish they'd come up with some unique puzzles, not having a go at this game in particular, as a lot of these games are guilty of cliched done to death puzzles, both in the game play and in the mini sections. It tends to be the same uniform gameplay, with the same puzzles but maybe executed slightly differently. If I never light another lantern, cut open a mattress or give another dog a bone, it'll be too soon. The HOS are unique and fun to do. They have different types. In some you start off by finding four object shapes which then unlock four more object lists and also they have matching object HOS. They also have a teleport system, which is handy. The graphics are rendered beautifully, with good detail. The last half of the game, gets really interesting and builds up in pace. What I liked most about this game is the characters, they were strong, mostly likable, quite believable and not too annoying,
I recommend this game!

Left in the Dark: No One on Board
Discover what connects the ship’s disappearance with Devil’s Island and a family’s unsolved murder!
I prefer old/older games because they usually have more straight forward and more frequent HOS, than the newer ones and this game proved to be correct on both counts. I'm sure the graphics were state of the art at the time but they seem very basic now. It also felt a a bit short to me. (I've just recently complained about a game being too long. There's no pleasing some people) The main character's voice was okay but there were others, not naming names, that were terrible, very wooden. Some of the sound effects were funny for all the wrong reasons and some of them downright irritating. Having said that though, I found it very atmospheric, which is something else that the older games nailed. All in all, I enjoyed it for its simplicity, atmosphere and a particular quirkiness that only old games seem to have.
I recommend this game!

Haunted Train: Spirits of Charon
Charon's train has left the station, and you'll never believe who's on board!
A game with a Victorian backdrop, slightly leaning towards the steampunk genre. Well paced game with a strong clear storyline. Clean graphics with fun and interesting puzzles. Quite quick charge on hints and skips. Would have liked more hidden object scenes. There seemed to be a lot to do and it felt like an epic game. It actually felt a bit tiresome at times because it just seemed to go on forever, but better too long than too short. You definately get your moneys worth with this standard version.
The graphics are nice and the story/plot is okay but the puzzles are cliched. Same old, same old and far too many puzzles for my liking and most of them mind numbingly predictable. Not only that, but they actually repeated a puzzle. I was also disappointed by how short it was. On the upside - quick rechargable hint and skip buttons and the hidden object scenes were good but not frequent enough. Some exciting interactive moments. I've noticed that the first hour of games like these are really exciting but then you buy it and you end up being quite bored by it all. The game developers know that the first hour/demo is critical, so they have to work on that the most. The newer games tend to lose their momentum after the first hour of playing, which is obviously no coincidence. The genre pulled me in. I like that blend of Philip Marlowe, 40's style with the 70's overlay. It had potential but in the end, it didn't live up to my expectations.
I don't recommend this game.

Legacy: Witch Island
Reveal the secret of an ancient prophecy! Fascinating tasks and exciting puzzles await you behind the breathtaking scenery of a mysterious island!
I found this a gentle game, no horror, blood, gore, or violent dark scenes. A fairy tale/medieval genre. Straight forward hidden object scenes. The special feature, in my opinion, is the unique and fun little puzzles. Fast charging hint and skip button. I also like the little touches like the raccoon in control of the hint button, who also features occasionally, in the cinematics. Very cute feature. I also liked the graphics in the first hour of the game. There's a scene where there's a enormous tortoise in the sea and another where there's a huge lobster on a beach. It has a kind of Ray Harryhausen feel, but don't be fooled by this. Those exciting scenes do not carry beyond the demo. Disappointing on that level and it seemed slightly shorter than other games and the ending is a little abrupt. Still a decent game though. Light, airy, pleasant and enjoyed playing.

Legacy Tales: Mercy of the Gallows
Solve this maritime mystery to reunite a pirate with his lost love.
HOG's can be cliched and boring but this one is different and tugs at the heartstrings without being overly sentimental, gushing or predictable. Very atmospheric in sound effects and scenes, nice semi realistic graphics. Hint and skip button slow to charge on puzzles and hints. Quite a long game, compared to others. You get your money's worth. Unique Feature - You collect coins in scenes(not in hidden object scenes but everywhere else) then you use the coins to open treasure chests, that will have valuable items, like keys or other objects, to complete the game. I got lost a few tmes, because of my poor sense of direction, but the game really tries to guide you on this. Touching, satisfying ending.

Psycho Train
Save your daughter from an evil ghost in Psycho Train! Begin your journey towards the unknown!
This was the first game I bought from Big Fish and I've bought many games since, but this didn't disappoint. The graphics are nice and the hidden object scenes are straightforward, as are the puzzles and mini puzzles. I like games where you don't get stuck enough so that you have to go to any strategey guide, or walkthrough and this is one of them. The story and plot are very understated and subtle. It doesn't have a convoluted plot or over describes and there are no long and pointless cinematics here. So a satisfying, self explanatory, well paced game. I don't have a good sense of direction in games and am always getting hopelessly lost but not in this one. Also, you don't meet anyone in the game, you are completely alone and if you like that kind of thing in games, then this is for you. Good sound effects and atmosphere throughout. The only downside is, the ending is a little abrupt, but that's a little thing. I played it again, just this week, after a year away, and enjoyed it just as much.
I recommend this game!

10 Days Under The Sea
Locate an ancient compass and ambush fish for five-star photos in this gorgeous underwater Hidden Object game.
This is very relaxing. The scenes and also the background music has a psychedelic vibe which really chills you out and adds to the atmosphere of the game. I don't normally like background music in games but it compliments this one very well. This is quite an old school game. It has straight forward hidden object scenes with some puzzles in between and you can skip puzzles straight away. There are limited hints, only four hints in each chapter but there are also four other special bonus hints that you can acquire in the hidden object scenes. Each chapter consists of five underwater or island scenes and you go to different countries in each chapter. Lots of different fish pass by regulary. If you feed them, you get heaps more fish passing by and there's a chance of getting a fish with a question mark on its body. i.e a much needed extra hint. You can also scare the fish away, in order to see the hidden objects better. You also get to take photos of the many varied fish, which go into an album. There is some photography skill involved here and that's almost like another game in itself! The re-playability is also very good. I'm playing it for the third time right now.
Such an unusual game with lots of crazy, well rounded characters. Hidden object scenes are puzzles in themselves. You have to think outside the box on occasion. Unlike the new HOGS, it will make you work for your supper. It will never lead you by the hand and tell you exactly what to do next but you will be able to complete it without too much trouble. Some objects are diificult to find but not impossible. Puzzles are fun and not predictable. Cartoon type graphics. There's a slow hint button. If it doesn't make you chuckle, it should at least make you smile. A longish game and you will get your moneys worth.

It's all about masks
Travel to 19th century Europe in this mysterious Hidden Object game! Discover who is behind the mask and unravel the case!
A mystery set in the late Victorian era. It's atmospheric with music that sounds like it could have come from a movie. The objects are quite challenging to find at times. Puzzles fairly easy. Hint and puzzle buttons are slow to charge up. While the hidden object scenes are realistic and have attractive graphics, they can be messy and crammed with objects. Ideally, it's a game to be savoured and not rushed.
