Grimm's Tales 2 is just like the other 4 games in the series. This dev has turned a blind eye to making any changes that would certainly make this a more appealing game. It's crazy that a few improvements can't be added. Our simple suggestions and requests always go unanswered. It's a pretty plain and simple solitaire and I dislike that the tutorial makes your plays for you (turn it off) you won't miss anything, the Gold Cards are back that end the game once removed, and you must complete the Newbie Mode to earn the replay option. The features are minimal and don't add anything special to the game. It becomes boring too soon.
Solitaire isn't typically full of bells and whistles but it should contain something to keep it interesting and enhance the entertainment level. Strategy plays and skills seldom get a chance to be used here. This series misses the mark on numerous counts. If you are unfamiliar with Mystery Solitaire, you might find it entertaining and ample enough to fill your needs. If looking for something more substantial that will test your skills and provide some relaxing enjoyment, I think you will be disappointed.
The game has a variety of card backs and fronts, Bonus Cards, Obstacle Cards, Newbie and Professional Modes, and a required number of points to open the next pack of 10 levels. The graphics are okay, the music not so good. I experienced no tech issues. The demo is a good indicator of what to expect, maybe you'll be pleased. I wasn't.
If we had a Rotten Tomatoes category, this game would be a suitable entry, IMO. There are better quality solitaire games on the market. Why do we see them so rarely at BFG?
Two minds are better than one for solving this whodunit. His logic and her paranormal sense get the job done. I enjoyed playing both characters, working to solve the unusual case in this entertaining story. The twin detectives are summoned to find out how and why a beautiful actress ended up dead.
Immortality, beauty, jealousy and the paranormal are at hand in this interesting story and it had a few twists, the ending was a bit surprising and I felt Domini did a good job with this game. It wasn't fantastic but better than most mystery games I have played lately. The characters were depicted well and the voice-overs were good which added more interest to the story. The graphics were nice and sharp with the usual Domini color palette, the scenes and background were full of things to investigate for clues and useful items.
There was a host of tasks and activities to keep the game busy. As always some of the tasks were nonsensical and I wish the devs would stop that and give us logic, things that make sense in the story. I really liked the HOPs and puzzles. They were mostly of the usual variety, not very challenging but the fun was still there. A reasonable amount of puzzles made it even better, for me, since I am not a puzzle lover.
Unless you are looking for something very dark in a murder mystery, this story should do nicely. I think it is a very good whodunit and I always love adding one to my favorites list. Today's sale makes it a good deal, but try the demo for a decent overview of what to expect. The CE, which I bought, is light on the extras but they don't really affect the story anyway. I think the SE is always the better choice when the goodies are in short supply. For me the entertainment remains even if the bling isn't included. I usually go for the CE for the Bonus Chapter and Strategy Guide.
The usual 4 skill modes make this game fun for any player and you can switch when playing, to test the different levels of challenge. I don't think the storyline is too intense and it wasn't scary, so that is a positive note for many gamers. A good whodunit that is hopefully kicking off a new mystery series, with quality stories to satisfy our sleuthing needs.
It was some years ago. I still play it occasionally and still love it. If you are unfamiliar with the original Cave Quest, give it a look-see and I think you will find a bunch of fun to satisfy your need for a great Match 3 game. There are so few good ones these days that I am forever falling back on my older collection.
This one has it all, as other reviewers have stated, including the need for strategy to move you through the game. It will keep you busy with tasks that require you to hang on to your thinking cap to overcome obstacles, complete the quests and battle your opponent. It is really a good, entertaining Match 3. I'm eager to continue the journey after enjoying the demo so much. I highly recommend this and Fishdom: Depths of Time Collectors Edition if you are hungry for top quality Match 3 entertainment.
I don't feel Cave Quest 2 should necessarily be a CE, not a whole lot of extra content to justify the extra $$. But today's sale was good enough to entice me to purchase. For me, sometimes waiting for the SE is only a momentary glimmer of common sense.
to satisfy most any "artist", but I'm not crazy about the images. In spite of the excessive amount of teeny areas (as usual) to paint, filling them in was not a daunting task simply because the images were simplistic and not of adequate size. They were more on the childish side, so not as much fun for me.
Of course I needed help with those pin-head sized dots of color, making the Hint Button my good buddy a little too often. The added improvements make the game more enjoyable but it still needs a bit more work. It would be nice to use blended shading and more detail. Do away with the bold, black lines that chop up the image. Create pictures that spread out, not so many single objects. Forced to complete level one before moving on is a major negative. The poor sampling of images makes painting them drudgery instead of fun. I I hate it!!
I love changing the background color. A nice option with a full-scale color bar but, as Pennmom stated, the variation between background and highlighted areas is not distinct enough. All the other features are helpful and I've never had a tech issue with any of the Paint By Number games. They provide many hours of entertainment without the threat of some madman or monster jumping out of the darkness. I enjoy these games as a break from "the dark side" of my HOPAs. I find them relaxing and the wide array of colors makes them more fun to paint. I own all but Number 6. Painting with no muss, no fuss suits me just fine as I age, but my kitties don't have the good time anymore of scattering my pencils and brushes about and stealing them away!
I was ready to give a 5 star rating. But due to the on-going first-level issue I knocked off a star. And in support of Pennmom's problem, still not fixed after 6 months of frustration, I deducted another star. I didn't rate it 2 stars since I do like the improved features, I had no glitches to deal with, I love the beautiful color palette and painting is a very calming activity in spite of the dislikes I have mentioned here. I'm not so sure that this dev pays attention to our reviews. After so many complaints on the same issues time after time, it seems neglecting our requests is easier than responding to them.
These color by number games are so enjoyable and we are slowly seeing the collection grow on Big Fish. I wish more devs would join in. We have the same ones all the time. They are great games, lots of fun, but it would be nice to have other devs, too, with different styles and features and a wider variety of images that include nature, animals, people, fantasy. I've seen a good sampling of what's out there. I hope the near future brings us more goodies in this genre!
in this supposedly sci-fi thriller? I found none in the demo which I endured to its end. It was so full of dialogue, the story went nowhere fast and it greatly affected the pace of the game. The storyline sounded interesting but didn't deliver enough plot in the trial to show what it was really all about.
The characters had nothing special about them and the voices were not good. Although the graphics were colorful, they were cartoonish, which I don't typically like, and gave a childish feel to the story. I have no major complaints about the tasks, there weren't many HOPs and puzzles in the demo but they were easy and not very creative. The activities were just average.
To be fair, things might pick up after the demo and the story may be a very good sci-fi adventure. But I'm not willing to spend the $$ to find out, based on the lack of activity and fun elements in the demo. Far too much dialogue used up time that could have been better used. Boredom and impatience took over early on (for me) as a result. I finished the demo hoping for a glimpse of sci-fi fun, but it never happened.
This was a surprising disappointment for me, coming from Mad Head. I hope they are not going down the lazy-path like many other devs are doing these days. I rated 3 stars for benefit of the doubt, since sometimes games do improve after the demo. The trial may give you an entirely different view of the game, I hope you discover more entertainment than I did.
This one is a real stinker! No matter how far beyond desperate I may be for a jigsaw puzzle, I would not even consider this one. I found not one iota of beauty anywhere. The images were not creative, attractive or interesting. I'm wondering why this dev is in the business of designing puzzles in the first place!
I'm in total agreement with Pennmom regarding all the staged pictures of misc boring things and uninteresting people. Things and people are out of place in an Ice Age puzzle, as well. The options are basic and a few features are ok, they work fine but offer little to the fun of assembly. Sorting the pieces is a nightmare but there is the option of working the border separately. There are approximately 300 pieces max to each puzzle, so for me there isn't much challenge. There are four pastel background colors and they are pretty bland with no way to adjust the shades.
Your finished puzzle cannot be saved and dream on if you want to sit and admire your accomplishment. It disappears in a nano second, never to be seen again. I just hate that!!
The puzzles from this dev are more unappealing with each new release, nothing ever changes. Our suggestions, requests, opinions in our reviews generate absolutely no response. It's been like this for years. But I always check the demos hoping to find that everything is fixed, always turns out to be a waste of time.
In the beginning of 1001 Jigsaw, it was a lot different and there were actually gorgeous images that related to the theme of the puzzles with fantastic animals and birds, beautiful landscapes. people in their natural habitat and dress instead of the silly models we now see in the puzzles. There were oodles of great puzzles, now reduced to 500 and the title is misleading.
1001 Jigsaw: Ice Age is just another disappointment . It amazes me that this dev thinks that this is all okay and makes $$ from this inferior product. But try the demo for yourself. You may have a completely different opinion and you'll end up wondering what all the fuss is about.
Even better than the last. Puzzle Pieces 3 is packed with great features that add to the fun of assembling these puzzles. Every single image is stunning, the beauty makes it difficult for me to choose which I want to play with next. There are 36 images in each of the 5 chapters and a Secret Chapter, so there are plenty of amazing puzzles, drenched in beauty, to keep you busy "til the cows come home."
The pictures can be customized and used as wallpapers. That is so fantastic since I am a wallpaper nut. Upon completion of the puzzles you earn coins and gems which unlock more puzzles. We have a good range of puzzle pieces to exercise our skills with up to 1024 pieces to increase the challenge. I love the features, especially the background choices, puzzle shapes and brightness adjustment. The achievements are always fun and I haven't, nor do I expect to, run into any tech issues.
It all adds up to a bundle of fun that we puzzle lovers have been craving. Graphium sure knows how to create a quality package! They have made an immense improvement in this genre! It is so delightful to see something that isn't cheap, childish and full of glitches. I'm eagerly anticipating their future releases, I feel confident that we won't be disappointed.
Detective Dana STRANGE is called upon in STRANGE Investigations to solve a STRANGELY familiar crime!! Very STRANGE that the abduction is so similar to her sister's that occurred 15 years ago. The culprit is still locked away for that terrifying crime. Or is he?? This new whodunit is just what I needed! I felt the demo was a great sample of what's in store in the full game. It was an easy decision to buy and as I move through the game, I'm not disappointed. The storyline is excellent as a creep is aloof doing all that makes this a good crime mystery. Sure wish we had more of these detective stories at BFG, with the more adult subject matter.
I've been well entertained as I continue on. The game is busy with many activities and the pace is good. The tasks are not grueling and I don't expect to become bored at any point. The graphics are sharp and the colorful scenes have plenty to investigate as we search for clues to solve this case. The characters are well depicted in dress and voice-overs, they add extra interest to the story. Especially Dana. I feel the music is appropriate to this type of story and the more mature theme in this game is a big plus.
The HOGs and puzzles are just average. Creativity is somewhat lacking, challenge is minimal. But still fun, just not enough of it. There are book pages and puzzle pieces to collect, 2 rooms to continue search. This time, for me, the collectibles and extras don't warrant the price tag. If not for a CE coupon about to expire, I would've waited for the SE. I always hope the Bonus Chapter is a good prequel or sequel to the story and I do enjoy the few extra games included.
I hope that Strange Investigations is a sign of good things to come. A new series is always good news. IMO, each game in the series should bring a new detective with adult themed mysteries to solve. I tire of seeing the same characters umpteen times and the storyline going in crazy directions, it eventually diminishes the quality. This new release is entertaining, the story has held my interest, no tech problems interfering with the fun. There are 4 play levels which include a custom mode, so you can pick the challenge you enjoy most.
I think the demo may give you a positive opinion of the game, at least it did for me. If you like detective stories, I recommend for a few hours of mystery-solving fun.
for this Match 3 game and let the fun begin. It's a real treat, for me, after all the underwhelming Match 3 games we've been getting for too long. It's amazing how much the quality has fallen in this genre. Ancient Jewels: Babylon is a big step up! I really enjoyed the demo and snatched it up, pronto!
The graphics are nice and sharp, there are 120 levels of bright jewels to keep you busy, the power-ups are great, the fun obstacles are a good challenge. A different goal must be met in each level in order to win. If playing in Timed Mode, you must replay the level if you fail to meet that goal. I was saved from that, as I played the demo in Relaxed Mode. The coins you collect will be used to restore the Ancient Temple.
All the features worked easily and there were no stalls or tech issues. Good, quick response which is essential in Match 3 games. I haven't bought one in over a year, I am looking forward to this one based on the demo.
I demoed the CE and found it to be disappointing. I was surprised that Domini didn't do a better job with this game. The storyline fell flat and it held no challenge, everything felt like a chore to me but the pace of the game moved along okay in spite of the many tasks.
Secret City caught my attention when it was a new series and I own several of its games. The hidden city with its unusual citizens brought us a decent storyline and a good adventure. But it has become watered down along the way, as has happened to so many other games offered today. Thank goodness I have a huge library of the oldies but goodies to fall back on.
The graphics were sharp and brightly colored, the usual Domini neons were present, there were no tech issues. There was nothing special about the characters but the voice-overs were good. The music was suitable to the story, background sounds were okay, the scenes were full of the usual hodge-podge to sift through. I busied myself with silly tasks, searched for lots of artifacts, and diddled with the interactive items in each scene. But eventually, boredom and monotony took over even though I finished the demo.
There weren't many HOGs and puzzles, they were pretty easy and an alternative Match 3 was available in the HO scenes. The CE didn't have a lot of collectibles, the ones in the demo were not hard to spot but I enjoyed them anyway. I don't think you'll miss much at all by purchasing the SE.
Many Secret City fans will likely love this new release and probably not share my opinion. Try the demo and maybe you'll be more entertained than I was. All ages and skill levels can play, with its helpful features and variety of game modes
