It is very 'drawnesque' from the story (girl draws pictures that become real) to the look of it. But it lacks the interesting puzzles that the original drawn had.
I like the graphics, and the cutscenes are very well done. I had a slight problem with the story (who would leave a very young girl at the edge of a cliff, when she was safe before you did something).
I played on advanced mode and there were still sparkles.
Story: Girls' 7 birthday, which is supposed to be a magical year. Girl likes drawing photos , and one night on this magical birthday night, a dark force takes her. You and the uncle can follow her through the picture and so the adventure begins.
It was straightforward to me, what to do next and the puzzles aren't hard.
You also collect origami during game to open bonus and I enjoyed that.
I ended up really enjoying it, different kind of game to normal HOPAs. Story of bonus is good as the 'main story' is finished in the main game so SE players will be happy.
I didn't think is was shorter than any other HOPA, but I don't look at walkthroughs or get hints.
Overall a good solid B+ rating.
I recommend this game!

The original game is Dracula 3: the path of the dragon, I bought this thinking BF had just chopped that game into 3 parts (this game being the first part)I don't know if this was made/changed for an ipad etc version. But everything interesting in the original game has been taken out - most interactions, things to do.
I was so disappointed, especially after looking at the walkthrough for the original game, I think it would have been an excellent game with those additions. But this version - I would leave alone and look elsewhere for the original unedited game - dracula 3:path of the dragon (if you can get it to work) BF I think used to have it, as one original game but now they don't. (maybe it was due to tech problems running it on modern computers?)
This version is fine tech wise (I am on windows 7 nvidia card)
SPOILER ON THINGS MISSING FROM THIS GAME
In one of the puzzles, in the dispensary, there was a cutscene and I felt like I was missing something. And I am sadly right. In this new game, you don't use the pipettes for a mini game and the sample slides. Also you didn't have to pick up and find a funnel. There was no gypsy to play mini games. (this is just a small example of the differences)
I don't recommend this game.

You play as pingu who unintentially goes on a great adventure around the world and his goal is to get home.
He meets different characters on his travels who need help with various things. That's where the minigames and fun comes in. In exchange they give him tips as to where to go next. This is quite a long game, and I as a middle aged woman found it to be charming, engaging and pure fun!
At first glance you may think this is a young kids game, with the graphics, sometimes weird cutesy dialogue. But they would definitely need help with it. It would be a game that you could sit down and do together: As it is harder and sometimes illogical at parts (H O scenes clicking random things to move them out of the way to get at other things.), there are a few typos in spelling, so you might want to point that out. Sometimes the phrasing is deliberately wrong/slang.
I recommend this game!

This is an anniversary game not a wedding game. In part it is a true story, I did love that part. And because of that I think true romantics and mature players will especially appreciate it.
This series makes for great family fun.
I didn't like it as much, as I missed the wedding part of some of the others (although I know we had first home). It just didn't engage me as well as bella italia which had brilliant integrated H O scenes and things that made sense related to the rest of the game.
And some of the fun seemed to have gone, from the mini games. They weren't that engaging.
It seems they concentrated so much on the story (I think it was the DEV grandparents story) that they didn't put as much thought into the rest of it.
It's still a nice game just not as good as the rest.
I recommend this game!

This is a really enjoyable game. It is a lot of pick-ups and interactions type game. This is made more of a challenge as you have a limited amount of slots which you can carry items.
You make up magic concotions which you can use to travel to lots of different places and time. The latter is a good addition as you can only do things in a certain time period so it makes the game slightly more difficult. There are a lot of different environments to explore and really fun minigames (and are not hard)
It's not one of those tear your hair out hard adventure games. It's just a perfect balance. In fact I think this is a good adventure game for someone who wants more of a challenge than IHOGs but who is used to inventory items type games.
The only time I was a bit lost, was wondering what to do next as there was so many places to explore near the end but I like that!
For a good length game (it took me a long time to finish it) fun mini puzzles, amazing choice of different environments I don't think you will be disappointed.
I recommend this game!

This game is divided into chapters. This chapter is the first game. You have to buy the other chapters as each seperate game. So don't expect an ending to this game.
AGON stands for ancient game of nations. And the main goal of each game (where it finishes) is to beat a board game.
I found this to be very short, and there wasn't that much to do: after you took out the time of wandering around trying every door.
The adventure side of it was a let down: as though you are in a museum with a lot of rooms, you don't go into many of them (I think 3 or 4). And the whole game is contained in this building.
The puzzles were hard but not many, most of the time was taken up with about 2. If you are an adventure gamer like me, and like exploring and different environments then this isn't for you.
If this game was released here in BF as 3 chapters (as I think it was at some time elsewhere) then I might have gotten into it more. And the adventure side, going to different locations may have been quenched a bit.
so overall the shortness of it, lack of true adventure, concentrating too long on a couple of puzzles, and limited different environments were a complete disappointment to me.
I don't recommend this game.

Kheops was the developer of this game. So it has the same interface as echo secret of the lost cavern. Once I got the hang of this game it was easy to slip into the other one. So if you like one you should like the other game.
You are alone, shipwrecked on an island and you spend the game exploring it and trying to find a way of it. You come across some animals some are helpful some are not. That side of it, is fun.
It is a vast island and you can explore different paths. It's not really non linear as you do have to do some things in a certain order.
I did find this a challenging game.
The backpack has 'pages' which you quickly fill up with the numerous items you find. The goal is to find the correct combination to make certain things you need. Sometimes it was combining 5 or more items. This bit of the game, wasn't as good as sometimes you could never guess the combination. But mostly this was enjoyable and you can earn a hint (don't want to give to much away) to make it easier.
The adventure side was really fun, I loved exploring the different sides/aspects of the island and the interactions you had to do. I played this for weeks it took me ages. The puzzles when you came across them, were nice and hard.
There was a lot of wandering around trying to figure out what to do next, but that's fun of adventure games!
This is a game that requires a lot of time, and patience but you are rewarded with a challenging, great game. If you are new to adventure games, I don't think this is the one I would start with. It is hard in places.
I have windows 7 nvidia card, and I could play this game.
I recommend this game!

Really enjoyable fun, different game. tip- do things in order that the game tells you. I didn't have a problem but apparently later in the game if you don't go to the church/temple first, when it tells you to, you can get a glitch.
Ah adventure gamers, at last a game for us! It does look and play like an "old style" adventure game. It is quite easy if you are used to playing these games but I found that a nice change.
IHOG gamers -
This is a good bridge for you to try an adventure game like the large files games. A couple of things if you are not used to them.
- Forget IHOG play of being penalised when you click. In this type of play you have to click EVERYTHING.
- If you are stuck the hint button will tell you in the scene you are in, what to do and it does refresh quickly.
-There are faint sparkles on a specific object if you are in a scene long enough (personally I would have liked an option to disable it).
-There is a skip for the puzzles, also a helpful 'help' button. -The journal gives you your current goals.
-The graphics are old school but clear.
-There is an non interactive map that gives you vague hints as to where you should look.
- The H O scene is more the find the object in the scene you are in, and not the typical zoom in to a specific hidden object scene.
-There is no junk pile scenes, for those that like hidden object games, then this may not be for you as it is more adventure.
I like how the puzzles are unlocked so I can replay them.
I give it a solid B I would have given it a B+ if it had been widescreen and slightly longer I just didn't want it to end, and no sparkles. I don't give many A's out as then it would have to be as good as dire grove.
TIP - I played the whole game without the custom curser, not knowing the custom one apparently goes into magnfying glass. If you are finding the game easy it may be harder without the custom curser?
This took me about close to 4hrs. (with coffee breaks, rough guess) I don't skip puzzles and like to take my time. Like any adventure game if you skip puzzles then it's going to be short.
I recommend this game!

I loved this game. It was just fun! As a beginner, I like strategy games without a timer. I don't like games with gold stars as it just frustrates me. This does have envelopes which disappear (apparently) but no gold stars so you don't feel an idiot. But it only happened once with me. It had a perfect pace for me until the end.
The not so good -
-There is a 'collection', you can collect different items as an extra, but it was pixel hunting on the most part. I love the idea but badly executed.
- I must have been better than I thought, as I had to play the game for 2 hrs without any goals, waiting for the last map pieces.#
It took me a long while, so it was a good long game. I will leave it to the experts to say if it holds your interest if you are an advanced player of these games.
I am now going to hunt for games like this, made a convert out of me!
slight spoiler -
#So I could unlock the telescope and the last 2 totem poles. I had already completed the cooking competition.
I recommend this game!

This game isn't for children! see very end for spoiler on why.
I did enjoy this game, I loved the interactions of it, maybe one of my favourites in that area, of the Sherlock Holmes games. There are a lot of different environments which is good. For those that don't like the occult, it is in this game.
As this is an older game the controls weren't the best and got in the way of the game. I found in the 3rd person moving around sometimes tedious -somehow a lot of the time clicking at edge of screen didn't work. But being in 1st person was really nausea inducing. At least there was a choice which is good! The graphics also reflect that it's an older game, but they weren't bad.
spoiler alert for rest of review as to why it was a bit squeamish -
It has a head rolling, dismembered parts of the body and lots of blood splattered around.
I am just glad the graphics are 'old-fashioned' so when the close up of the head rolling happened and the rest, it isn't realistic but it still is a bit gruesome - so for the squeamish, kids etc be warned.
I recommend this game!
