Pretty good game. The storyline was original and easy to follow. Graphics are okay, with some hand-drawn work that is really nice.
There are a lot of Hidden Object scenes, but they are not junkpiles and you can move through them fairly quickly.
There is quite a bit of back-and-forthing, but you end up going to the same main scenes over and over, which cuts down on getting lost.
Several inventory items are kind of hidden, and easy to miss the first pass through, so pay careful attention.
The Hint button will point you in the direction you need to go, but I'd advise going to the main road where the cat fountain is and then using a Hint to get directions. It works less well when you are inside the house.
I wish there had been more mini-games and puzzles. It was a little bit too short, in my opinion.
But it's definitely worth getting with a credit or coupon code.
This one ticks all the boxes. Great graphics, easy to navigate (with a handy map that takes you straight to wherever you want to go), interesting tasks, fun games, generous length... and now I'm salivating for the sequel!
Only needed the walk-through at the very end, where you have to do a little back-tracking. Otherwise, the scenes are sectioned off a main hallway and you mostly concentrate on those areas one at time.
I tried to hold off and wait for the Standard Edition, but there wasn't much out there that interested me, so I went ahead and spent the extra dough.
I didn't use the Strategy Guide much at all, but it's nice to know it's there. :-)
The grahpics are very well done, with lots of bright and colorful things to look at. Sound is unobtrusive.
I loved that the Hidden Object Scenes involved finding 12 of one kind of item, like 12 things made of wood, etc. Such a nice change of pace and they keep the momentum going.
The mini-games were a real treat. Nice variety that started out fairly easy and only became difficult near the end. Many of the games were the kind I usually skip, because I'm not that spatially oriented, but I found that if I experimented a bit, I could figure them out. That's a great feeling!
The storyline will not bog you down, since all the notes you find go straight into your journal, without you having to read them. Sometimes I don't really care that much about the storyline and don't like to be overloaded with background information, so I like that they leave it up to you how involved you want to get.
The Prologue that you get with the CE is of decent length and the mini-games become a little more challenging. You also get access to all of the mini-games to replay at your leisure.
This was enjoyable. The length is pretty good. Storyline, sounds, graphics, are all above-average. Fun mini-games, not too many hidden object scenes, and a helpful map. Everything runs smooth, no glitches.
I wanted more bugs! Seriously, this one is a nice change of pace. The story was unique, the mini-games were fun, the length was about right, and it kept me interested. Hints are very helpful.
A lot of good things about this game. The graphics and sound effects were great. The Hidden Object Scenes were clean and fairly easy. The storyline was interesting enough that I read all the notes that were found.
Hints recharge quickly, and if you're stuck, Hints will point you in the direction you should go next. The Journal also keeps track of your objectives.
However, the Journal was kind of a pain, since everytime there was a new document to read, you had to page through all the previous ones. It should automatically open to the latest entry.
The warning about disturbing content is silly. There is maybe one time during the game when you jump a little bit. That's all.
Anyway, I was really starting to get into it, and then it ended abruptly.
I did enjoy what was there, but it's way too short.
After seeing all the great reviews, I was excited to play this game. But I thought it was just okay.
The storyline is very weakly developed. A whole bunch of back-and-forths that aren't much fun. Inventory items that are mostly obscure as to what their uses will be. Conflicting interests: you are told to put Luisa and the baby in the car and get them away from the area, but once you put them there, there are all kinds of tasks you must do before you can actually get them away. I guess they don't mind waiting? The car changes color and even type, from scene to scene.
Played about half of the demo, thought the storyline, graphics, etc. were okay, but there are no hints in the SE for those moments when you're not sure where to go next, or when you missed something you need to move forward. That's a huge drawback, in my book, so no purchase for me.
Things I liked: very few Hidden Object Scenes. Colorful characters. Scary villain.
What I didn't like: they made the mistake of showing us a map with lots of locations still locked. That gave me the impression this game would go on for much longer than it did. You only end up going to a few of those locations and the rest stay locked.
I don't know why some developers do this, because it leads to unrealistic expectations about the length of the game.
There were also too many times that I had no idea what to do with an inventory item. The Strategy Guide definitely came in handy.
It's a nice-enough game, just not outstanding, in my opinion. But better than many, so for that reason I will recommend it.
