Weird match 3 game. Locks on the board and I have no idea how to clear them. Heaps of power ups which seem to do nothing except explode in a shower of sparkly lights and move a few tiles. Bored after just sitting there for five minutes aimlessly matching for little result. Deleting.
The game ran like a dog on my computer which didn't help, but even allowing for this I couldn't see anything new or interesting in it. It started out with running backwards and forwards picking up food and boxes - more food and boxes - how is this fun? The artwork is bland, and the music dinky and annoying. It looked and sounded like something that was created about ten years ago. Awful.
...before deleting this game. Too much clicking and dragging, horrible graphics. Too many customers with no patience at the very early levels; hate to think what it's like if you play on. I couldn't even find the exit button, so had to kill it with the task manager.

I am basing this review on playing the full demo. Marble poppers are a bit of a neglected genre these days, but I enjoy a good one. This one had the potential to be one out of the box but didn't quite make it on some levels. Basic gameplay is standard marble popper; you play as a cat in the middle of the farmyard and shoot matching farm animals at the advancing marbles in order to destroy them. The farmyard theme cartoony graphics are cute, if ordinary, and the awful music sounds like two people went nuts with a glockenspiel and a tuba. These two features could mislead you into thinking this is a simplistic game for kids. It isn't. Each level gives you a task which you need to complete in order to progress to the next level. It might be the normal destroy all marbles, or it might be survive for 120 seconds, or it might be destroy all marbles and collect a certain number of horseshoes of a particular colour. The horseshoes are awarded for achieving certain manoeuvres within the game. Action can get quite frantic and unlike many marble popper games where you right-click to choose another missile, here you have a choice of three and can click on the cat to change them. Of course then you have to remember to click away from the cat to fire it. And you may have to quickly shift your cat to another firing station as the marbles advance. I found the game runs slightly jerky on my computer, so I may have to tweak some settings, but as I am tired of mosaics, don't like HOG and there has hardly been a decent TM for ages, I think this one will be a buy for me.
Chicken Invaders 5 is back with more Christmas than ever! Fight gingerbread men, giant snowmen and chickens dawning Santa hats in this beak blasting space shooter.
This is Chicken Invaders 5 dressed up in Christmas motifs. If you already have CI5, be advised, this is exactly the same game except for the Christmas themes (chickens disguised as gingerbread men, Christmas music etc). The starship Henterprise, piloted by chickens, is blocking out the earth's sun with feathers, and your job as hero is to shoot and destroy the chickens, and collect as much food (chicken legs, burgers, whole roast chickens) as you can while avoiding the eggs that they rain down on you. As you go through the levels, you will collect different weapons and missiles. At the end of each section you do battle with a boss chicken. The Chicken Invader games are fun and quirky if you like a good shoot'em-up. I've never quite understood the dashboard screen but I'm happy just to fire off whatever weapon they give me!.

I think this is the best of the FTP games I have tried on Big Fish. It's Match 3 with plenty of variation in the game play. The main character is the witch Prim, who has been tasked with defeating baddies and freeing up all the other good witches. You get plenty of power-ups to play with. The graphics are fun and bright and I don't mind the music. Instructions are a little lacking, but after a few hours' play you can work out all the little tricks. I find this much more fun than Gummy Drop, which became so ridiculously difficult to defeat some levels that I deleted it.
I have played this for all of five minutes and already I can't stand it. love the storyline and graphics, but I hate the game play of "here's a lock - find a key". I play games for fun - going in and out of rooms thinking "where is the key" isn't fun in my book - I like to progress a little faster in my games. Sorry, I found it boring.
This isn't much different to the previous Hercules games, although a big improvement on the first two. It doesn't really have enough features to be a CE, so I do feel a little bit ripped off. Still, it's hard to get good TM games these days. The level of challenge is just about perfect in this one and I do enjoy finding the little tablet with H on it at the beginning of each level, plus the bonus searches in some levels. I still wish they would ditch the terrible poetry in the cut scenes. It's really dreadful, like something a three year old would say.
I enjoyed the earlier ROR games, although I no longer play them because they are outdated. I was happy to see a new one, but after playing the demo, what a disappointment. The developers don't seem to have, well, developed the game very much. Like other gamers I deplore the lack of ability to queue tasks. The music has had a bit of a facelift but it's still the same music. I also loahe the annoying tutorial boxes that keep popping up right where you're trying to click. Another TM failure.
There has been some thought put into the strategy in this game, but as seems to be getting more common, the developers seem to have forgotten the real reason we play games - to have FUN. Nine minutes into the demo, I was playing the fourth level and ran out of time. Twice. Not fun. I don't understand the reviewer who said this was not a timed game, since it clearly is. The graphics are cartoonish in the extreme. The irritating music sounds like something from an Arabian bazaar. The tasks in the levels that I played were the same over and over ("build a sawmill. Build another sawmill. Oh, and while you're there, build a third one." What the - !!!) Deleting this game from my computer now.
