I found this game to be very enjoyable. I like how you get to collect lobsters and keys in every level as long as hidden cameras. It gives something extra to the game. Some items are interactive and the mini games inbetween are a nice change of pace. This developers games are all the same and so I like to play them before bed. They are calming and I find myself getting sleepy as I play them. They are not boring by any means but relaxing and Im able to focus and let go the day.
My only pet peeve with this game is that you collect all the extra items within the first half of the game so the rest of the game although you are still finding items, you get no new scenes and no more special objects to find. In the Australian one, you find some but then find more later and even when you get to the bonus section of the vacation you get to collect more. It just made me look forward to playing all of it but with this one, I did have a little bit of trouble finishing it up because it all became the same. Same locations, same objects etc. But overall I really liked it and Id recommend it!
First off, I do not own the first one in this series so I cannot compare games. The first one did not interest me as it felt like same old, same old in terms of gameplay and plot. This game however, gives the player a familiar feeling but also a new perspective. I quite liked the mythology behind it and the gods helping you out somewhat. Meddling when they aren't supposed to. I LOVED the puzzles in this game. They were all very doable but just challenging enough where you had to use some brain cells. The hidden object scenes were interactive and nicely done and I don't recall seeing any of them more than once...They did not repeat and there were far more puzzles than hidden object scenes which is fine by me. I played this game on advance and had skips and hints but they took longer to fill and no sparkles anywhere. Thank you devs as some developers *coughERScough* tend to throw the sparkles in anyways.
However, I have some criticism concerning this game. It is way short and Im not sure if its the game itself or if its the jump map because its sooo helpful. Instead of wandering around aimlessly because there are a lot of locations in this game, you are given a marvelous jump map which tells you even in hard mode where you need to go next. I usually don't use maps but for this one it was nice to not have to wear out my shoes. Because I used the map, it literally cut hours of the playing time and there was no fillers because there weren't many hidden object scenes so in total, I might have played this game 3 hours or less. I recommend this game because its fun and if you don't use the map, it will take considerably longer.
Another issue of mine is the disjointed plot. It starts off about the water turning black and how underneath the ground there might be this evil lurking blah blah but then the story goes elsewhere and the black water issue is never really addressed and you get a crystal that stores energy in it that essentially helps defeat Dagon, the bad energy guy. I felt like there wasn't enough information on Dagon and what would happen if his power was released. I kind of felt like the plot made no sense after awhile and its lucky the gameplay was good because when I lose interest in the plot, its usually over for me.
So to summarize: Its a good game but also disjointed. The gameplay is fun but its still a short game if you use the map. The description of this game makes me think the town is named "Black Water" which would make more sense than the water turning to black but since you actually see the water turn black, I guess its not the name of the town. The graphics are lovely and the crystal energy element adds a flair to this game but don't overthink the plot like I did. Just roll with it. There is an ending in the SE but it doesn't really go into detail what the people you save were actually doing there or how they figured out it had eternal life if it was so evil. It just really confused me. Sometimes these cult, evil, spirit of the ancient games don't mesh well with me but for a relaxing afternoon, this game will do the trick.
Blue Tea Games. I love them, what more can I say? This game is well thought up, has a really nice plot that wraps up in the main game but continues into the bonus to show you how it all started which is very much appreciated. There are 3 modes, I played the hardest and was able to complete all the puzzles without skipping them. The only one I thought I was going to have to skip was the last puzzle BUT when I changed it to normal, I realized I could beat it and did without the skip. Kudos to a game with original puzzles that are challenging but still doable.
I love the beauty of the graphics, the enchanted (morphing objects) that even though they don't help you on hard mode are still fun to look for. I love the fragmented object scenes which usually I am not much of a fan but I love them in blue tea games. I found this game magical, enchanting and I really did not want it to end. The bonus chapter has 3 chapters and took about an hour. I played this game over a 3 day period and probably put over 4 hours into it. I really, really enjoyed it.
The only thing that wasn't up to par was the map. I have no problem not having a jump map BUT this was not even a helpful map. There are a lot of "worlds" you travel to and there would be a big star if you needed to go there BUT it would be a star in the middle of the world so you had no idea where in that world you needed to be. In the hardest mode, you have no hints so I would basically wander around until I found something or resort to the walkthrough. I always play with no hints or skips when I have a walkthrough and this game was very doable but the map was just a waste in my opinion. Also, sometimes worlds wouldn't be highlighted that you actually needed to go to so for the longest time I thought it was very linear where you couldn't go back to a place until they told you but I realized later, I could go to them anytime I needed once I unlocked them and sometimes I needed to go there even though there was no star.
Overall though, this was a very fun engaging game. There seems to be a controversy about "killing" off a race of people. You have to choose between horses and wolves. I chose the wolf people and I don't know why people are saying there are dead horses because there aren't. It just shows the horse people moving on. Maybe they changed it since I see an update but I really didn't feel it was anything terrible AND I love animals of all kinds especially horses. I feel like the game was nudging you to pick the wolves anyways because the temple god said they had been there the longest and a bunch of other things. I really did not feel it was inappropriate as other games have you do such worse and like I said, I saw no dead bodies.
I really like interesting M3 games but this one fell flat for me in a lot of ways. I never played the first in this series so I can't compare. I liked the fact you are just trying to get the water wave stuff to the gem at the end, a little different than trying to get all the blocks to turn one color like other ones. I liked the chain concept in the beginning yet it got tiring after a few levels. I liked how it was a mix of fragmented hidden object, spot the difference, match 3 and other puzzles but I found there wasn't much selection of different puzzles, just the same always repeated.
There are 16 chapters each with 5 levels within. 4 of the levels are match 3 boards and the last is a puzzle of sorts. Within each match 3 board are a combo of the pipe puzzles and move the blocks. Sometimes there are other roads you can go to avoid these puzzles but you do get achievements for doing them. At first I liked this concept but as time went on, I grew wary of doing the same type puzzles over and over again. I became tired of the game too as its just the same repetition over and over. There are no points but it does count at the end how many chips total you have destroyed.
There are lots of achievements, I didn't get them all because I got bored. I really just wanted this game to end. Its timed and untimed but timed I couldn't finish the levels as the water wave stuff doesn't move fast enough so I played untimed and it just wasn't very interesting. I really could have lived without this game. The levels were interesting enough, at least it was different than just square boards but the most intriguing puzzle was the last one. I wish there had been more like the last one but there wasn't much to my disappointment.
This is a take it or leave it game for me. I recommend it to people who want a different aspect of Match 3 games but I just didn't find it too exciting or enjoyable. Some may though. My favorite Match 3 game is Carribean Hideaway or Lost in NIght....
I recommend this game!

Fairway ™ Collector's Edition
Spend some time on the Fairway and take on challenging courses! Try to stay under par in this amazing Card game!
First Id like to say that I had never played the original Fairway before trying out this game so I had no idea what it was going into it. That being said, I fell deeply in love with this game. The concept of the Golf Solitaire game being turned into an actual Golf game with courses and holes is genius. While playing this game, I did purchase original fairway and enjoyed it as well. For the people who say the CE bonus part are the same courses as the original are not correct. They do have the same names BUT this game is different from the original in many ways.
This game has 16 levels each consisting of 9 courses each with 9 holes. There are 3 stars per course you can achieve. To get all 3 stars on a level you must get a score of at least -13 so no bogies or mistakes. There are 426 stars in total to collect and that makes this a very long game that has A LOT of levels. I prefer this over original fairway because the 18 hole courses were extremely difficult for me to finish in one sitting and Id lose my interest quickly. There are more goals in original fairway and the announcers are more quirky BUT this game is extremely humorous as well. There are achievements, trophies, the golf store and a blitz round where you have 1 minute to get as many cards as you can to advance. There are small mini games like picking up wild cards, sand dune cards, water, clubbing gophers over the head like that game in arcades. I found this game to be quite fun, challenging, long and just a great game. Its definitely CE worthy and gave me hours and hours and hours of enjoyment! I definitely recommend!
This is the first ERS game I have really liked in a longgggg time. I like the fact its about zombies which really hasn't been done in hidden object games, its more of a tv/comic book thing so that aspect is great. It has the silhouette and list hidden object scenes and one of the silhouette scenes is really out of the box so kudos for that. The hidden object scenes were spread out not all clumped together. The little man made sense in this game as opposed to the first 2 in this series since I could never figure out why he was there. There were many, many locations to discover. I always thought I was almost done and then there was more and more and since I liked this game so much, I was happy about that. I like that ERS gives you the option to lock the inventory so it doesn't always bob up n down and the Destiny Fish was a nice touch.
However, I do have a few cons and Im being generous with the 4 star rating because I believe this game is about a 3.5 due to the ending. One of the tasks you have to do is to let the baker know who killed him BUT Im assuming thats part of the bonus game because you never get to wrap things up with him. Also, the ending is really really abrupt and thats typically how it is with ERS games however I do not think CE's by ERS are worth the extra money so its a pity this game and others are always abrupt for people who choose to buy the SE. It really kind of ruins the experience. This game was so unique for once (story) and it gets ruined by not knowing what really happens. I also thought the destiny fish could have had a better use than just matching scales against a mirror. My other issue is the puzzles. I know a lot of people like easier puzzles but if Im playing on the hardest mode, I expect it to be challenging so I don't get why ERS doesn't mix up the same games but more challenging on the harder levels. And speaking of playing on the hardest level, lately ERS games have been putting sparkles on the hidden object scenes. Isn't the point of hard to have NO help? You are removing black bar tips, sparkles of any kind should be gone too.
The only other thing that bothered me was the monkey. Oh My God...he screeched during most of the game. soooo annoying. I do recommend this game however because I had lots of fun playing it and you do get some kind of ending but not one that leaves you feeling satisfied.
There are 3 modes...I chose the middle option which had hints. Since you can't change it once you pick it, I thought it was better to have a hint or 2 if I got stuck and Im glad I chose that option as sometimes the hidden objects were dark or really well hid. The puzzles were average difficulty. I didn't find any that were so hard I couldn't do them but there was one I did skip due to the fact I didn't want to sit there for hours trying to do it.
This is a solid 4 hour long game. You play each hidden object scene twice and there are an average amount. Im a person who doesn't like to be bombarded with lots and lots in adventure games and this was just enough to engage the story and not make me sigh every time I came upon another one. I was surprised how long the game was actually as I thought that it would be over once I got off the pirate ship but to my surprise it had another 2 hours left. There are A LOT of locations to visit within the different scenes especially the last chapter on the island.
The pearls you collect for the necklace tells the story and what happened to the town. There were voiceovers but not to tell the story forward and I would have liked that instead of just reading it. I also wished there was a lock option to keep the items up at all times. Thats just something I like.
This has a COMPLETE ENDING in the SE. There is no pressure to buy the CE as you have a good solid ending here and I only hope this developer puts out more games as I have liked this and the ulthar cat town one they put out very much.
I recommend this game!

Unfinished Tales: Illicit Love
After the Raven Queen crashes her wedding, Thumbelina must save her prince to reclaim her happy ending!
I love elephant games and although I enjoyed this one, I don't think its one of their best games. Its more of a filler game, not as long as their previous offerings and kind of a lackluster story in my opinion. It has 3 modes casual, advanced, hardcore. I played on advanced. It has the usual things I love about elephant. Beautiful graphics, hidden object scenes you only play once, mini games that are medium difficulty. Some are easier than others but you can usually figure them out and they aren't tedious.
Where this game fell apart for me was the storyline because it was oh so corny. You are Thumbelina and she's small, the size of a thumb so in some areas you can't reach things and need to grow magic spells to get to higher elevations like growing mushrooms however sometimes it doesn't seem like you are small when you can pick up rakes that are huge and shovels in waterfalls you would drown in being so small. Kind of like an Alice in Wonderland type feel. There are a lot of different kinds of creatures and people you associate with including pirates, wizards, talking animals. There are voiceovers but its just a person standing there with a voice bubble, no actual lips moving.
I thought this game was fun but the corniness of the plot and the fact halfway through it got a little illogical and I had to press the hint button a lot which I never do, made it not as fun as some others. I give this a 3.5 but rounded to a 4. I do recommend this game and there IS an ENDING in the SE.
This game is amazing. There are 3 different kinds of matching: Group, Chain and Swap. There are 140 levels of each kind. There are hexagon boards and regular boards. You can choose which one you want to play with however I do not know if you can actually finish the whole game playing only one kind as I played all of them. You can play timed or untimed and you can change that in the options menu as the time goes on. I started with it timed and was able to do it but found the game quite relaxing and wanted to not be rushed so I untimed it and I really quite enjoyed it that way.
There are achievements and I was able to receive all of them. There are little houses to buy with the gold you earn. I finished the houses about 3/4 way done but there is an achievement to earn 100,000 points which is almost impossible to do while building the houses so after the houses were done, there was still the other trophies to get.
This game took me over a month to play. I enjoyed every bit of it. It was a colorful, magical game. I liked the icons you swap and group together. They were unique to the game and really made it feel special. I am sad I am done playing it but this game gave me real joy playing it. I definitely recommend it to Match 3 fans but also people who want a relaxing game that isn't dreary. This game made me look forward to Spring which has just barely arrived here in California. I can't say enough good things about this game =)
I recommend this game!

Vacation Quest: Australia
Grab your passport and get ready for an exotic Hidden Object Adventure in Vacation Quest: Australia!
This might be a little biased considering my Fiance is from Australia so I not only got the geography lesson from the game but also from him at the same time. It made the experience of this game absolutely wonderful. However, the game is just as good if you don't have the fiance commentary as well.
It has been a long time since I have played a hidden object game that was purely just finding hidden objects and not some adventure part to it and I really enjoyed this game. I've never been a fan of popcap games or so I thought until playing this game. I found it to relaxing, both the game and the music. I in turn have purchased a lot more of these types of games however, this one will always be dear to be because its Australia.
It plays great. If you get 50 boomerangs you get the hide and seek infinite search and a match 3-35 level bonus and about 7 more vacation days where you encounter new levels. IF you get all 84 boomerangs you get 100,000 bonus points. I loved looking for them. It gave the game something special extra. This game helped me relax in the evenings and was just interesting to learn about different cultures and visit places my fiance has been to and explore it all within a game.
This game also has really interactive parts like "put flash on camera" "put camera on tripod" within the lists. And between each level is a puzzle of some kind. Jigsaw, match 3, spot the difference (which I usually hate but these were doable) etc etc. I look forward to more.
