Can we say annoying characters? Who picked the voices for this group of people? Makes me shutter. This was not a really bad game just not a good game. This one is a little bit below average. Glad I played in relaxed mode 'cause never would have made it in timed. HO's were a little difficult to find but not impossible and I didn't have to use ALL the hints just most of them. Good thing is on the next level, if you find Al Emmo's coins, you can get them back. Puzzles between levels are what caused my downfall. First one is a jigsaw which is fine because I love jigsaws. Second one, however, was one of those slide type and I am not a fan of those at all and that is where I quit. No skip button that I could see or I might still be playing. Graphics are ok but nothing to write home about and the music had to be turned down. All in all, I cannot recommend this one unless you like to be frustrated. But play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun!
I have been playing these since they first came out and I love them. Only one I missed was 5 and I'm going back to that after I finish this.
Graphics are great and are drawn to intricate detail and almost put you in the scene. This is one of those parks I would love to visit and camp in,
HO's are challenging and you need good eyes, or at least good glasses, to pick everything out but that is what I like. Also finding the wildlife and trash/recyclables is a little added challenge for bonus points. I especially like the map where you put the random pieces in to complete it. Simple? Yes but I enjoy putting it together.
Music is appropriate and gently soothing and then again rousing at the same time. Nice background.
I could go on and on with the pros but I don't want to bore you with an overly long review.
I highly recommend this for someone looking for a game with no time limits or hard to reach goals and a just have fun game. All I can add is play the demo and put yourself in the park. Have fun! Now back to #5
This has to be one of the most boring games out there. The old original Break Out was more fun than this.
One of the reviewers compared this to Peggle but they are as different as night and day. Peggle is fun to play. Graphics are ok but not jump out great and the colors are at least bright.
I didn't play it long enough to get any power ups, if there were any, but maybe that would have added an element of fun. I don't recommend this one at all unless you're having a hard time getting to sleep then this will put you in dream land. Play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun!
This is one of those games that comes along maybe 2 or 3 times a year that is worth buying. Wish there was a 1/2 star I could add cause this is not quite 5 for me.
Opening scene almost turned me off of this one though. I mean, you fight a dragon and supposedly defeat it only to have it return and dump you in the ocean where you drown but are saved because you are the 'chosen one' and you end up on a boat with a sage who informs you that you must defeat the dragon again and save mankind or at least the known world. (phew!)
But that is where this game becomes the must buy game it is now. This is not one of those back and forth games where all you do is find things to open something to get an object to go someplace else and get something else and on and on and on. In this game everything you do has a definite purpose and helps the story along.
Graphics are great and the colors are a nice neutral ground between the dark and sinister and the light and cheery. Nice on the eyes.
The characters are interesting and they all have their own little traits that make them essential in the story. The Bard is a little annoying with his ego but he still helps.
HO's are a nice blend of fun and challenge and the mini games add to the story. Thoroughly enjoyed playing them. Some complained that some of the games didn't make any sense but I found nothing like that. They all had a purpose if you don't read too much into them.
This is one of those games where I will tell you to look at the 4 and 5 star reviews and try to ignore the 1 and 2 star reviews. This is a definite buy for me.
I highly recommend this one.
But play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun!
One of the reasons I played the demo was because of some of the reviews. I mean all those 5 stars this has to be a good game, right? Wrong! As my title states did I play the same game as they did? I saw nothing in the game play that rated 5 stars or anything above 3 for that matter.
This is the typical back and forth, back and forth game play that is dominant in HO's these days. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, I don't like this type of play because the story isn't helped nor does it progress if I have to keep backtracking to do anything at all.
Graphics are dark and not that detailed which is another trait of games these days. Why do developers think dark is good? All it does for me is want me to stop playing and leave this developers games alone. The characters fit right in with this same darkness.
The HO's and the mini games are, again, typical and not anything to write home about and all they do is maybe give you something you might be able to use 2 or 3 scenes back.
Too many cons in this game for any kind of recommendation from me so I do not recommend this game.
Certainly not a 3, 4, or 5 star game but play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun?
I knew this was going to be a pretty good game when I saw the opening cut scene. It drew me into the story and I had to find out what's next.
I was not disappointed. Colin and niece Alice start their trek to save the world. The story never falters and everything you do advances them along the path to victory. There is the usual collect things to do something but it is not the annoying constant back and forth so prevalent in games these days. When you do have to back track it is to get something or complete a task to help you move on.
Graphics are excellent with good detail and nice color. Nothing is washed out or blurry and there is a nice contrast and blending.
The main characters actually look like people and when they talk their lips move in a believable manner and the voices match their persona. All the characters are similarly drawn and animated. Alice is especially nice.
There is an interactive map available and the hint button actually helps. Didn't have to hit the strategy guide once. There aren't an abundance of HOGs but the ones you do play are needed and advance the story rather than send you on a useless back track somewhere. The mini games are a blast and I enjoyed them immensely. Again, they advance the story.
There are so many pros to this game that I could go on and on but I despise long reviews. I like to keep it short and just encourage gamers to play and not ruin it for them.
I highly recommend this game and it will be my next buy. Play the demo and if you don't agree that's fine. Have fun!
Mahjong and 8floor games-2 of my favorites. Again this developer has come up with another winner in my book. I am a big fan of mahjong and this was no disappointment. Graphics are nice, game play is challenging and this is just FUN to me. I know a lot of people don't care for these games because of the monotony but I find them relaxing. There are limits you have to meet and they are difficult but on some of this developers games you can turn turn them off. I recommend this game for mahjong lovers but not really for other gamers. Play the demo and decide for yourself. Have fun!
I've played some confusing, illogical games in my time but this one is a real doozy.
Starts out with a creepy spirit guy/gal dressed in black hood and cape appearing, not walking up but appearing in a black cloud, at your door to drop off a secret package and he RINGS THE DOORBELL! Come on, he/she is a spirit! Why the heck would he ring the doorbell and in a nice manner? But wait, that little attempt at humor may be the highlight of this game because everything goes downhill from there.
From there you have to defeat the orbs in your house, find boxing gloves and fight a punching bag and all kinds of "neat" things to do. Of course the spirit fox that appears informs you that you are the only person in the world who can save your family and, oh yeah, the world but you must travel to another dimension with weird, supposed, fairy tale creatures. I've never seen fairy tales with any of these creatures.
Graphics are not that great and make some of the scenes hard to look at. The characters are almost of the cartoon type but drawn well enough to not be.
Some of the HO's were ridiculously difficult when they didn't have to be. In particular is the drawn picture with the story underneath with highlighted object words you must find. Not well thought out.
I am a huge fan of good, I repeat good, HO games but this one left me wondering what happened. Constant back and forth and seemingly useless tasks to complete. You finally subdue the flying horse that is going to take you where you need to go only to have it knocked out from under you almost as soon as you start your journey. Why even waste my time if you can't use the item?
Music is annoying to me but I forgot to turn it off which I recommend.
I do not recommend this game at all. There are some of you that will probably give this 5 stars and that is fine but it just isn't there. Play the demo first and decide for yourself. Have fun!
Oh, and I apologize for the length of this review but sometimes I start writing and just can't stop. Please forgive.
Those who gave this a 4 and 5 star rating must be playing a different game than I am. This has to be one of the most pointless games I have ever seen. And where are all of the people? You walk around this village and see horses in the barns but no people anywhere other than inside their houses which you can't enter. And nothing moves! Horses just stand in their stalls, no wind outside moving leaves, nothing.
The only thing the "hint" does, which is right click or space, is show you which way you can go or what you can look at. I even checked the help section in the menu and it wasn't much help at all.
Graphics in this game are tending to the dark side and seem to be variations of one color, gray. Only real color is in some of the HO's. Speaking of HO's, I had to break out my magnifier reading glasses to find some of the things and then some weren't shaped like you would think. Very frustrating.
This is one game that goes on my never buy list and for those of you who are thinking of buying this one, don't. Save your money or credits for something that is worth it and fun. For those of you who bought it before playing the demo, you have my sympathy.
For, I hope, obvious reasons I don't recommend this game despite the 3, 4, and 5 star ratings. It isn't worth it.
But, like I always try to say, play the demo first and then decide. Don't base anything on the reviews. Have fun!
I've played these before and there was one some years back that I enjoyed but this one didn't quite measure up. I mean this is typical game play, seat "guests", feed same, collect money, clean tables, repeat, repeat, repeat. Can get boring after a while especially if the characters are zombies, vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein and others, and the diner owners aren't that great either. Graphics are nothing to write home about but the detail is pretty good and at least there is color. I'm not a huge fan of this type of game but I like to play 'em every now an then just because. Keeps me sharp or alert or something. I recommend this but only to the gamers who actually enjoy this type of game. If you don't enjoy it and think it is only 1 star then don't bother with it. Play the demo and decide for your self. Have fun!
